Alright, so here goes with the first attempt of a change with the new process. Top-line idea is to fold two current FU teams, reducing the league to 16 and thereby having a workable finals structure in 2026. Proposal: Christmas Island and King Island to fold. Reasoning: no activity, match reports, community engagement, positive impact on the FU. Also the aforementioned finals issue. Specifics: all players on the two lists go into the free agency/psd pool. League goes from 18 teams to 16 teams. Are there two other coaches who second (and third?) my motion, thereby moving to a vote?
I agree with @insider, except the priority picks. Nobody gave me any priority picks when I had (and still hold) the longest losing streak in ORFFU history. Not salty, just against priority picks.
Ok so the motion is carried - I will remove the priority picks part, that was just an idea for equalisation. Will setup a different thread for overall vote on the matter.
Let's just take a moment to think about priority picks. What will happen as it always does bottom teams will pick the best kids and the finals teams will cherry pick the best talent from the folding teams thus making the gap wider. Instead how about we have a separate draft for those folded players , teams would need list spots at the end of draft. Another option would be each team gets two picks in a row, if any picks have been traded out you get that pick back only to use on the folded team players
Not your worst idea mate. I still think they can just be rolled into the free agents pool and first in best dressed. It will help those teams rebuilding do so quicker, hence evening things out again. Hang on, I am the reigning champion for the first time ever.... I should get priority picks!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA
I know there is a vote to reduce to 16 teams, but Tylo mentioned he would be back for 2026. Is there a reason his team was the chosen 2nd team to fold?
We could have an EPL type ladder/winner Team with most points scored wins the title If you want to boot a team out, make it the worst scoring team

I'm not against the idea of a 16 team comp, I'm not a fan of the way this is being conducted, particularly when it affects a coach that's been involved from the start. Tbh, I read maybe one match report every couple of weeks and Tylo and I tend to have some sort of trade discussions each year. He does the primary functions that make this league operate (delisting, drafting and team submission), I don't really care that he doesn't do match reports, that's secondary to this comp. I'd prefer to see if there is a coach that reluctantly said yes to continuing on next year because they've invested years here and feel like they have to or should but don't really have their heart in it.
each to their own mate, that’s why there is a poll; eliminates any debate or need for commentary. “the way it is being conducted” is transparently, as a black and white yes or no, without drama or angst.
I've ummed and ahhed about what to type but I'm just going to keep it short. If King Island gets voted out then I'm out too. I think it's really poor form that a poll like this has been put up and is allowed to be voted on.
I’d recommend everyone take a deep breath. I know it has been a long year and a lot of people are wound up pretty tight, but please try and be objective and look at facts not at implied or perceived sleights. People are allowed to disagree. These polls, by definition, are rooted in democracy. The vote in question was 100% transparent. Allow me to expand on each point. Despite what Generation Z or M or whatever it’s up to would have you believe, it is ok to have a different opinion. It is ok to have robust conversation. It is ok to disagree. This should be able to happen without abusing someone or cutting up rough. the very fact that these motions we put together have to be voted on, make it inherently fair and democratic. Majority rules. Pretty simple. specifically to this poll/motion/vote, it looks like it will be voted down, and that’s ok. On a personal note, I’m not going to write a big long sook of a post, I’m not going to go on a witch hunt to find who didn’t support it, I’m not going to lose a second sleep over it. I posted a ‘warts and all’ suggestion that I think would benefit the competition moving forward. The majority disagree, and that’s ok!! one last piece of indulgent material if I may - before commenting that this was an outrage or done dodgy or secretly or ulterior motives or anything along those lines, please consider: if I were trying to be malicious or sneaky, would I not have attempted to manipulate? Perhaps obtain buy-in by not naming names or making suggestions, then once everyone was on board with that, be conniving or underhanded by demanding it be King Island who is removed? Alternatively, if there were sinister motives, would I not have started some sort of PR campaign or tried to ‘recruit allies’ or something to ensure whatever victory I’m alleged to be pursuing? I didn’t do any of that, but my suggestion was as transparent, honest and straight up as it actually reads; for the betterment of the league I suggested 2 specific teams be removed. Nothing more nothing less. anyone is entitled to think whatever they like, and people are allowed to disagree, however I would again highlight that my (inbox) door is always open and I always respond to all messages. If anyone is outraged and offended as seems to be the norm in 2025, feel free to drop me a line and I’m happy to chat any time. if TLDR, then>> Only thing I ask is to take a breath and consider that I may just be honest, blunt and transparent, not a conspirer trying to pervert justice and outrage everyone
Hmm. I can see where your logic came from. You were looking at bringing the competition to 16 teams to retain 3 rounds of finals. I can even see why you chose Tylo. He didn't do as many match reports in the end of the season. However, a fairer thing to do would have been to tag him.
