For those thinking Grimes, I'm not so sure he will be so unique as ironically everyone seems to have him as their "Point of Difference".

Not that he will be a bad selection of course...

What about Sam Fisher? Will Gilbert play more of a forward role this year. If so you'd think Sam Fisher would be a good selection. He scored very well in 08 and 09 from memory.

    Hi Guys

Still planning my completely "outside the square" team

so at the moment my defence is:-

Gibbs, Delidio, Fletcher, Scotland, Newman, Shaw, Chaplin (Duigan/Bathcelor, ???, ???)

will wait and see on Otten's first 2 games and still think Gold Coast may want to get as many 6 - 10 games into the majority of their rookies so not completely sold on Toy or Coad yet

    Cheers

Havent seen Adcock mentioned, is he no longer flavour of the month? Awkwardly priced, high potential. Also, any thoughts on Chaplin?

Shaw has also been spending time on the wing during intra clubs, which would make him more valuable if he runs more through the mids during the season proper. Grimes is the other one who is looking great in training, but having both him and Broughton in the same line could spell trouble if their typical injuries strike. Stiffy seems a good upgrade option with his high starting price, early bye and great potential.

    Then there's Enright.

Who'd have thought that one of the best defenders over recent years is potentially a POD..?

Are people put off by his age or the potential tag?

Struggled with a tag for a couple of weeks, but ended the season with a 116, 152 & 133 before being rested in Rd 22.

which back doesn't get tagged out of the game sometime or another?

Fisher, Shaw, Stiffy, ceski, drummond, enright...apart from Goddard they will all score low at some point, just have to cop it.

I know he probably isn't a POD because he is one of the most expensive priced defenders, but I see from most teams that there is not alot of love for Cam Bruce. I see the main factors as price, age and now at a club that you would think can challenge for a flag, less points available with others taking a slice of the pie. Having said that he is my D3 atm-peoples thoughts?

And Adock definitely on the watchlist. But I think having Broughton, Grimes and Adcock all on one line spells injury trouble for the future.

Geez, I'd forgotten about Enright! Shame on me.. I'm not quite sold on Geelong players just yet as I want to see their new game plan under Scott. What he does with many of the players inc Enright will be very interesting... Bring on the NAB Cup I say!

I know people will give me $#!+ for this but a good preseason would put Mark Nicoski back in the running.

Injuries have curtailed him, but at rookie prices he would present a type of player who could hit 80s unlike most other defensive players.

Danny Stanley might be another to keep an eye on this NAB cup.

Don't think these two will be in most teams, but interested in knowing the thinking behind most rookies in your defenses.

Heppell is certainly there, Duigan a likely starter if he gets a run early, and then you have a mix of players like Nick Lower (ex Port now at Freo)

No one seems to have mentioned the Duff this year at all. More of a DT player?

What's people's thoughts of Duff vs Broughton?

Either or in relation to those two

I guess Bruff-ton just came of age half a year earlier.

Ive got thoughts on H.Shaw but probably shouldnt say what they are!!!!
    </blockquote>

It was his 'smother of the millenium' wasn't it?

But in all seriousness I can't trust Shaw after sitting in my side last year.
