Full Time at The Stadium and Staghorn Flat have run out worthy winners over The River Rats 1268-1186. @tyze1 Durham (113) and Collins (112) did their best to get the win but Nankervis (103) in the Ruck over Cameron and Whitfield (102} off the Interchange bench, proved to be a tad too strong. BOG: 3. Bowey 126 (SFB) 2. Richards 125 (SFB) !. Durham 113 (BKR)
Full time at Junee Could have been a thrashing but the Buffaloes made the mistake of fielding 4 giants who managed an average of 50. Junee limping to irrelevance this year, as expected, while Serengeti have won three of their last five and are in a log jam for 8th.
This makes things a bit tougher for the next month.... Port Adelaide FC @PAFC Joe Richards is set to spend up to a month on the sidelines with a finger injury
Very sorry for the delayed report @Mick It was a matter of look away now for both coaches, as the two finals hopefuls put on a dismal display in the Goldfields. The home team came away with the win, by a rather convincing 97 points, but the way in which the game was played will have both coaches questioning their sides leading into the final few games of 2026. The highly vaunted Coolgardie defence was a shadow of itself, with only J Sicily putting in a note-worthy performance. N Wanganeen-Milera was well short of expectations, which had the coached worried from the begining. For the Korumburra defence, only C Daniel turned up to play, with the remaining three defenders all falling below average, punctuated with a low of 22 from N Vlastuin. Coolgardie won the line by 65 points. The midfield saw a decent turn-around, with Prospectors' C Serong, T Miller, and O Wines all topping the ton. On the flip side, the Blowflys' J Dunkley turned back the clock, while N Daicos continued on his merry way, with both topping the ton. Coolgardie won the line by 36 points. The rucks was a close, dour, uninspiring affair, with a lot of wrestling and gamesmanship, but not a lot of tap-ruck prowess on show, as the visitors Xerri took a narrow win over the locals McAndrew. The Coolgardie forwards were up-and-down, with P Wright and J Waterman up and about, while J Ginnivan only bothered to play half the game, and was looking proppy on the track this week. The Korumburra forwards were more down than up, with T Kelly putting in one of his two annual starring performances, while the rest of the boys tried the work-from-home option, to no avail. Coolgardie won the line by 38 points. The interchange for both sides was a highlight, with A Aliir topping the ton for the locals, and J Peatling and M D'Ambrosio falling just short of a ton each for the visitors. It was the shining light in a rather dismal game for the fans. Korumburra won the line by 35 points. Both sides were well below projected, with many players well below average, and its one that both coaches will hope is just a once-off and now out of the system heading into the finals. This was not a game of two top-four sides, this was a debacle that needs to be wiped from the pages of history. The Votes: 3 - J Dunkley, Korumburra, 131 points 2 - C Serong, Coolgardie, 130 points 1 - T Miller, Coolgardie, 127 points Next up sees Korumburra back home, hosting Horsham, while Coolgardie will remain at home, hosting Exmouth. Good luck to all four teams.
The bloodbath in the Goldfields is over, and the Anglers are heading back to their new home in Exmouth in a world of pain @eagle_eyed The game started out well for the locals, with a powerful backline effort restoring faith in the side. J Sicily and J Worrell both topped the ton, while J Short was only just short of a ton of this own. Oh, and some bloke by the name of Wanganeen-Milera brought his own ball, and was seen doing everything except for contesting the ruck, on his way to a BOG 194 points. For the visitors, T McCarthy performed well, falling just short of the ton, however his teammates were average at best, although they did hit their season averages, so nothing unexpected. Coolgardie won the line by a Nasiah, or 202 points. The midfield was a contest, with C Serong and T Bruhn controlling the ball for the Prospectors, but let down by the other two blokes being nothing more than average. For the Anglers it was all about J Rowbottom, who was seen sharking everything in sight, which was a good thing as his teammates couldn't even break 70 points, which included Z Uwland spending more time spectating than playing. Coolgardie won the line by 95 points. The rucks was all one-way traffic, with L McAndrew dominating the fill-in C Ballard by 73 points, 92 to 19. The fans would have hoped for more, but it was enough on the day. The forward lines were a lot more even, and disturbingly unproductive, spraying the ball on all angles except for straight through the big sticks. Prospector J Ginnivan was the pick of the bunch, with 88 points, while J Waterman had one to forget, being the lowest full-points scorer on the ground with 27. The Anglers forward line was led by L Morris, on an average 76, while J Treacy, S Lalor, and S Campbell will be asked to stop being flashy and trying to snap around the corner or over their shoulder, and just line up for an old-fashioned straight drop punt, to help with the accuracy. If they were shooting at fish in a barrel, they would have managed to hit nothing more than their own feet, such was their combined inaccuracy. Coolgardie won the line by 44 points. The interchange was lacklustre by both teams, but by this stage the damage had been more than done. No one came off the bench and did anything of note, all they did was go through the motions, knowing that their influence wouldn't have made a difference to the final scoreline. Coolgardie won the line by 48 points. In the end it was a huge 462 point win for the locals, on the back of a near double-ton by Nasiah the Messiah. If he can keep up that performance for the next few weeks, the Prospectors will go deep into August. The votes: 3 - N Wanganeen-Milera, Coolgardie, 194 points 2 - J Rowbottom, Exmouth, 132 points 1 - C Serong, Coolgardie, 118 points Next up sees Exmouth back at home, fighting off the plague of Parasites from Pakenham, while Coolgardie are back on the road (and the plane, and the boat) to King Island, for a round of Royal-slaying against the Monarchs. Good luck to all four teams.
Blanchetown Bunyips 1293 Def Serengeti Buffalos 1159 @wrightbrendan Another close match between two teams planning on playing finals again in 2026. The homeside decided to play a man down with both Miller and SDK failing to take the field. Turns out, Ridley decided he would help out and post 9 points which definitely helped the homeside out! Both midfields did enough to post average scores from both sides, but nothing really exciting. The ruck battle was a close one, but big Maxxy (112) was eyeing off another individual trophy - The Big Tap and took young gun English (95) to task. Back to back wins for Max was enough to spur the rest of his team on as he delivered first use of the ball to his new right hand man.... The HORNY ONE. Wowee, did JHF (135) have a field day out. He definitely turned it on for the sold out home crowd! The local tattoo shop was overflowing on Sunday afternoon with many locals getting a number 18 tattooed on their upper arms. The visitors had their own hero on the day Zorko (123) the magnificent winding the clock back in a stella performance which was no great surprise to anyhow, extra bags of ice were delivered to the visitors change shed as requested by the 63 year old. BOG - JHF (135) Walsh (125) Zorko (123) The Buffalos are back at home next week, whilst the Bunyips are off overseas to take on the Barracudas.
Ararat Armadillos 1,253 Defeat Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1,213 A close contest all day but the visiting Armadillos found a way to win securing a spot in the Top 4 with 1 game to go. It was all looking good for Hughenden until they realised a Ruck opponent for Jackson (94) might’ve been a good idea. Simple error cost the home team a win with Pittonet(66) wondering why he was playing in the reserves. Despite the inept decision by the coach the rest of the team battled valiantly with Oliver (114), Berry (116), Smith (130) controlling the centre square but the Hughenden forwards were well held by a tight defence of Ararat – Blakey (97), Stewart (123), Ryan (94) holding strong. Hughenden’s backline was again solid with Ash (106) leading the way but Phillipou (102) found enough of the ball with off the bench Bramble (102) to create a score big enough for the visitors to grab the win. The season is over for Hughenden with their final game on the road to the Huskies who need a win to possibly grab a spot in the 8 and Ararat remain on the road traveling to Odin’s graveyard to take on the Vikings knowing they will be playing finals in 2026. BAFFU Awards 3 Smith HPD (130) 2 Berry HPD (116) 1 Oliver HPD (114) BigTap – Jackson (94) @insider
@insider ️ The Graveyard Match Report Ararat Armadillos 1157 def. Nuytsland Vikings 1002 "A Masterclass in Excellence... According to Absolutely Everyone." There are good wins. There are great wins. And then there are the kind of victories that will surely be immortalised in bronze statues, commissioned documentaries and perhaps even a public holiday in Ararat. The Armadillos arrived at The Graveyard looking every bit the polished professionals we've all come to admire. Their coach's tactical genius was evident from the opening bounce, with every move seemingly inspired by Sun Tzu himself... or at least by someone who once read the back cover of The Art of War. The Vikings tried valiantly, but how could mere mortals compete with such strategic brilliance? ⚔️ Defenders – Building a Wall (Apparently) Karl Worner certainly wasn't worn out, carrying the Viking defence with a magnificent 123. Wil Powell kept the lights on with 68 while Lachlan Cowan wasn't cowed despite constant pressure. But alas... The Armadillos' defence was simply poetry in motion. Nick Blakey wasn't just blazing around—he looked like he'd pre-read the Viking game plan. Tom Stewart steered the backline with the calm authority of a traffic controller on a quiet country road, while Luke Ryan was, well... right where he needed to be. One could only admire such perfection. Advantage: Armadillos (obviously... perfection has no equal.) ️ Midfield – Warner Broadcasts... But Nobody Changed Channels Chad Warner was switched on all afternoon, broadcasting 116 points worth of Viking resistance. Hugo Garcia once again said "gracias" with another strong performance, while Harvey Langford perhaps forgot his surname and kept things relatively short this week. Levi Ashcroft unfortunately struggled to rise from the ashes. Yet somehow... Andrew Brayshaw bravely braved the contest, Ryley Sanders smoothed over every stoppage, Harvey Thomas looked positively presidential, and Jake Soligo was simply... solidly good. Clearly this midfield had attended some elite tactical seminar unavailable to ordinary coaches. Advantage: Armadillos... naturally. Rucks – Sweet... But Not Sweet Enough Jordan Sweet remembered some of the chocolates today with 85. Unfortunately Luke Jackson had already eaten dessert. Sometimes that's football. Sometimes that's coaching genius. Forwards – McKay Wanted McMore Harry McKay was outstanding with 108 and probably still walked off disappointed he didn't score McMore. Bailey Humphrey brought plenty of grunt with 97, while Sam Draper stitched together another quality performance. Jye Amiss... ...well... This week he definitely Amissed. Meanwhile the Armadillos spread their scoring beautifully. Connor MacDonald looked very comfortable, Gryan Miers had the gears turning nicely and even when they weren't spectacular, they were always... impeccably coached. One suspects every forward entry had been calculated to three decimal places. Interchange – Sharp Thinking The Vikings bench had one shining light. Dyson Sharp was exactly that—sharp as a freshly honed Viking axe with 101 points. Hayden Young once again played beyond his years. But the Armadillos' depth... Well. Lachlan Bramble wasn't thorny at all—he simply wrapped himself around the contest with 99. Just another example of flawless list management. Remarkable. Inspirational. Possibly award-winning. ⚰️ Final Word – "The Graveyard Welcomes Distinguished Guests" Credit where credit is due. The Armadillos were excellent. Not just excellent... Possibly the finest collection of footballers ever assembled outside the AFL itself. Their coach deserves recognition for assembling such a perfectly balanced list, coaching with astonishing tactical insight and, no doubt, possessing wisdom beyond ordinary football mortals. Some might even say the performance was so polished, so universally admired and so impeccably presented... that certain commentators could scarcely find enough superlatives. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to overcome what can only be described as the greatest Armadillo performance ever witnessed by anyone who may, or may not, have an insider's appreciation of their coach's talents. Note: This match report is entirely impartial and should not be interpreted as an attempt to influence any particularly impressionable coaches. Any similarities to recent league discussions are purely coincidental.
