Their challengers are the second first-time Grand Finalists since 2021, after the Magpies managed to be the first in a long while last year, the young, brash and exciting minor premiers the Black Swamp 29ers who having lost their first 3 finals are now 5-5 all time. Yep the Noahs have played and won almost as many Grand Finals as the 29ers have finals, and with a lazy 12-2 Head to Head advantage including 2016 Qualifying Final and 2024 Preliminary Final victories the task looks as tough as it can be for the first time Grand Finalists. It wasn't lost on me that the Shags recently traded Blakey to the 29ers and Bice to the Noahs. We're trying to build a strong culture at the Shags, definitely prioritising it over winning games of football. Good luck to both grand finalists! Should be a great game.
