Thought it would be worthy of its own thread as most people will be keen to know which young kids play. 1. Marc Lock 4. Maverick Weller 5. Jarrod Harbrow 6. Alik Magin (Rookie) 7. Karmichael Hunt 8. Luke Russell 13. Hayden Jolly 14. Nathan Krakouer 16. Rory Thompson 17. Josh Fraser 19. Joseph Daye 20. Joshua Toy 21. Daniel Harris 22. Tom Nicholls 23. Charlie Dixon 24. David Swallow 25. Danny Stanley 26. Matt Shaw 27. Michael Coad 30. Campbell Brown (C) 32. Brandon Matera 34. Jack Hutchins 35. Michael Rischitelli 37. Harley Bennell 41. Dion Prestia 47. Daniel Gorringe 48. Sebastian Tape 51. Jake Crawford (Rookie) Some guys missing: Sam Day Zac Smith Gary Ablett Jarrad Brennan
Damn. Sam Day was one I really wanted to get a look at this weekend. Usually KPPs take a few years to develop (see Watts), but Day seems further along. He finished top few in tests like agility, sprint over 20m and vertical leap at the combine, so is obviously an extraordinary athlete for his size, and may not need to grow into his body like a Watts. Perhaps his athletisism will allow him to play a more roaming role, where he won't take the big hits you usually try to protect a young KPP prospect from in year 1 and 2, giving him more game time now?
any reasons of why sam iles or zac smith are not playing thought they would be a shoe in 4 supercoach
Is anyone of the same opinion as me that GC will play their rookies for a few games then give them a spell for a week or 2 and play them again for a few and spell them again which will slow down the downgrade/upgrade process.
It will be good to get a look at a few of the kids, especially ones that are in the "either player X or Y" brackets, such as Toy vs Coad for example, and Matera vs Prestia. Interested to see whether Hunt has adapted to the game yet or not. Can't say I've been considering him but you can guarantee as long as he's fit that he'll play for no other reason than marketing purposes. Looking forward to watching Swallow, Bennell and Harris too, and seeing whether they all look like potential choices or whether one is significantly ahead of the others. It never hurts to save a few bucks if the cheaper options look just as good.
My current Squad has got Gold Coast Fever !!!!! 6 Suns for my bench, I will watch their NAB Cup matches with great interest. Thoughts fellow D T's Back Goddard,Deledio,Duffield,Grimes,Birchall, Otten,Hibberd (Coad,Stanley,Puopolo) Mid Swan,Montagna,Jack, Anthony,Heppell,Mzungu (Swallow,Prestia,Buckley) Ruck Cox,Warnock (Smith,Derickx) Forw'd Chapman,Franklin,Sylvia,Riewoldt,McGlynn Dangerfield,Richardson (M Brown,Matera,Michie)

Quote from itsinmydna on February 17, 2011, 19:24 + that they have 2 early byes !!
@Allstar. I reckon this is a big reason why having so many GC players is a bad idea. If any of them are burning for their first couple of games - then downgrade to them before their price changes. and look to upgrade to their premiums after their second bye. Thats my opinion anyway. In saying that, I am planning to start with a few though - Swallow and Harris almost definitely Prestia (maybe, just for MPP), Hunt (maybe as he should play a lot - possible keeper on the bench), Maybe Fraser but Petrie is ahead of him at this stage. thats it for me i think... until R4 maybe
I'm hoping they gun out the SC points, and that not many people jump on them because of the byes! Will be great to see my friends kicking themselves saying "I shoulda had him, etc" haha
GC rookies are a far king gamble............But I'm a gambling man .....Big risk big reward in these kids GL people lol.
Not sure about Toy in the full strength GC backline. Hunt will be there, either short or tall as required Bock and Brown Harbrow and Krakouer Toy has a few competitors. We shall see anyway. Stanley worth a look for mine as listed a defender, but all Magpies know he is bred for the bullocking midfield role he played so well in the VFL. No doubt he will be part of the initial midfield rotation, to take the physical punishment of the younger guys for 2 years (then put out to pasture, or put down)
Ah yeah Coad Toy Hutchins - bit of a craps shoot 3 rounds of the nab will sort this lot out. Still there are going to be some nervous coaches when R2 selection comes out
Yeah true, when you do the numbers it looks like Coad could take his spot. Hmmm. That Campbell Brown article citing himself, Bock, Harbrough Coad, Stanley, and Toy was kind of promising though.
