    How so?

Melb-Freo-Crows(not very taxing in other positions, potentially 1 ruck and 2 forwards)

Okay defense wise(grimes/broughton/otten), that takes 3 bench spots to cover.</blockquote>

2 if you consider that you aready traded out Grimes due to an LTI back in round 8 ;)

    Ain't that the truth AJ

Yeah I've got Otten and Lower marked down but yeah they'd be certainly changed by mid season.

I've got faith that my team will be able to handle losing Broughton and Grimes in the one weekend. If it can't then I will trade around it.

I've got Shaw in currently but a Newman-Shaw shuffle seems like a great way to preserve value and take advantage of the bye situation.

Certainly Alfred first 10 rounds. Averages against teams he plays against is solid for these games, and the Tigers don't play out of Victoria for 9 games.

WIth most going the "cookie cutter" D1-3, and most having Otten and Heppell/rookie D6-7, the D4-5 will be the real make or breaker in defence this year.

For me its between Broughton, Duff, Grimes, Adcock.

At the moment Broughton and Grimes are locked in but the Duff-man could be an interesting POD. However if he gets a forward tag it could become a Shaw situation and &#60;50 scores. </blockquote>
Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Broughton, Grimes, Otten, Heppell?

    "Cookie-cutter" back seven right there ;) </blockquote>

Who else has Puopolo and Duigan as well haha? I reckon Toy would be in a fair few teams also, which means my back line is almost universally owned haha</blockquote>

Haha I have Puopolo, Duigan and Toy on my bench. This is beyond cookie cutter similar!
However depending on round 1, I may swap Puopolo with Lower as I am concerned with Puopolo's job security.

Yeah, my backs are similiar too walesy. Lookin at my team....again, it's a shame Jarrad Waite didn't have the same D/F capabilities as Gilbert. I reckon he could be in for a big year.

Great news. At the moment is sitting on my mids bench facilitating a D/M link. If he gets early game time what a bonus!

    Sweet re Hibberd.

@Lucas: Yeah I got Alfred sitting in at D5 and absent a stinker of a year, can't see that changing unless he drops to a D7 later on. Maybe we'll get a bolter in the backs and by dropping Pendles to Jack in the mids I am very well placed to catch any such players. Rockin the Reg at D6 as a handy POD and MPP completer. Whether he makes it to round 1 depends largely on what we see in teh n00b cup, of course

    Good to read about Hibberd.
He helps to ease the pain of Jacobs getting glandular so hopefully we get that second D/M link back.

With the bombers having a late bye it would be sweet if Jacobs was back on the park and about to play his 3rd game right as Hibbered/Heppell are about to have his bye(or hit max price), to preserve the DPP link.

If Goldsack is ill again and with Nathan Brown down, could Lachlahn Keeffe (SP?) get a few games and earn some &#36;SC.

I think so but you'd have to look in the Ruck position for this not DEF

Could be a good prospective R4.

But he's up against players like Derickx from Richmond who looked OK in the NAB

Yeah I noticed that too late. Stupid by myself. I guess I had to realise he was RUK, just because he will play DEF doesn't mean in SC he is DEF.

I am seeing everyone put Heppell in defence, so other than Hibberd who are good rookie candidates with D/M MPP who can slot into the mids - I have discounted Jacobs for the moment. I feel like I must be missing something as I have Heppell in my mids

Personally I think at this point Heppell will get more game time, and as the rookie depth is thicker in the mids, I have Heppell as my D7, to hoping grow into a nice little cash cow.
Hibberd may not play right off the bat (just a hunch), and so he sits on my midfield bench for when he does, and provides a D/M link for Goddard etc to swing into my mids for the bye rounds.

I have all ten players. However, Heppell is in the MIDS and Brodie Smith is the new one in DEF.
