It's Thursday and time to start captain talk. With Swan and Pendles resting my big hopes are either Selwood against the Reverse Kangas at Kardinia Park Sat afternoon. Possible shower. or Big Sandi against the Tiges at the MCG in a Sat twilight match. Possible shower. What do we think?
Last 3 scores vs team (average in brackets) Bartel - 79,184,144 (135.7) Sandilands - 128,145,119 (130.7) Chapman - 133,130,86 (116.3) Selwood - 118,130,98 (115.3) Judd - 106,99,120 (108.3) Goddard - 117,129,64 (103.3) Pavlich - 109,112,80 (100.3) Cox - 84,119,97 (100) Watson - 66,124,99 (96.3) Boyd - 84,107,54 (81.7) Buddy - 85,74,77 (78.7)
I'm liking the look of Sandilands. While arguments can be made for a handful of Geelong players as they face North, I am concerned that they may go in 'half arsed' and do just enough to secure the 4 points, seeing as they face the Pies off the back of a bye the following week. Hawks don't generally do well against Port OR at AAMI so a big no to any captain choices StKilda...Can't bring myself to do it. Last year Goddard would have been a shoe-in for captaincy if Swan was out, but I'm not going to risk it. If you're going for the weekly prize - try Bartel
Bartel for mine - a nice Geelong day on Saturday afternoon, and an opposition who may not make the trip...
Just trying to think outside the box here - anyone with Rockliff or Redden (Bris) as POD's might want to consider them against the Suns - both been racking up decent scores in a losing side & both have good averages!
Sandi or Selwood for mine. Sandi will have a picnic against my Tigers' lack of non-cardboard cutout (I'm looking at you Angus Graham) ruckmen. Actually, probably a bit harsh on Graham - hasn't been too bad the last couple of weeks. But Sandi is in another league. The weather bureau predicts a couple of showers Saturday, but it looks as if the rain won't arrive until Sunday in fact. If that's the case, Sandi should do the job.
No love for Judd? Coming up against a troubled St.Kilda side who are ripe for the picking. He's in great form and gets plenty of it on the Etihad deck.
With no Swan, it came down to 2, Bartel or Sandi and with both of them having a bye last week theres not too much of a difference (both ave 117). Thats why im going Bartel only because he has the potential to do a 150+
So you'd go the safest bet right? Which is Sandilands. He's due for a big one. If you're the risky kind, Bartel (or Adcock against GC if you're reeeeeeally risky).
@silacious Hence the long reeeeeeally risky bit I've gone Bartel, but surely you can't go wrong with a Geelong star or Sandilands
