Nah sorry structures has got it for me. Collingwood plays well - because of the structures Collingwood plays badly - well of course it was because the structures were stuffed Not at all because you put in a lump of Wood and couldn't win a hitout or a clearance Not at all because you weren't desperate enough for the football in the midfield or when you conceded possession that you didn't tackle, harass and chase. Not at all because your opponents had a great game plan designed to counter your stars. Not at all because the key forward for the opponents gave your full back a bath in one-on-one contests. Nah, it's the structures baby.
"yeah nah" -- surely an old fave but a classic for a reason. I'm also over Bruce telling me every time Setanta or Tahdg touch the ball that they are Irish.
As we head into the second half of the year just wait for: "It really is a 12 point game for us..." Ah... No. Because some other team on the same points will also win, and then you can play them "for 12 points" next week!

Quote from stkildathunda on May 31, 2011, 16:37 "role" Otherwise known as he is a hack but we dont have the balls to drop him as he plays a "role" for the team.. yes im looking at you Kosi, Hawkins...........
Actually i reckon the term is just being used wrong. For example, Kosi and Hawkins are spuds, but in most good teams, there are role players. I would say someone like Osbourne from hawthorn is a prime example. His role is to get 15-20 disposals per game, and kick a goal or two per game. Without him, the pressure goes onto Buddy to kick those extra goals, and we lose a link between the midfield and full forward. I wouldn't ever dub him a world beater, but i also wouldn't call him a bad player. You can't have a team full of Chris Judd's and Gary Ablett's, because not everybody can get 30 disposals or kick 6 goals. So these players are important to the team, and are usually underrated by those outside of the club.
Yeah...nah, at the end of the day it was always going to be a tough game because they're a quality side. We had to play 4 quarters today, give 100%, stick to our structures & run the lines in order to give our forwards first use of the footy. I thought (insert name) was pretty special in his role in what was probably a career defining game for him today. After a good week on the track it was great to get the 4 points for the supporters...Oh, yeah, that Tiffany Cherry just looks delicious!!
Geez if Bruce has to be mentioned, you can't go past: "... you just feel [insert the blatantly obvious or out on a limb comment] don't you..?" No Bruce. I don't.
Players and coaches from Every team including cats pies blues hawks saying how young they are, still learning and trying to improve everyday Recently the word structure is way over used
"Breaks the lines" Which ones and why don't they pay for them? Especially when one of the other regularly used ones in AFL now is "zones". Can't break the lines in a zone can you?
"it'll be a great test for us to see where we're at" Also, "cheat" and "the match review panel will have a look at that one no doubt... But surely he'll have no case to answer". The offending player then gets 2 weeks.
I hate the "one week at a time" line... Its a load of BS! If it is only one week at a time, how come anyone who gets interviewed right after the game seems to know exactly who they'll be playing next week? Did someone give them the fixtures just before they were interviewed, or do they actually look ahead like everyone else on the planet??
Some favourites of old "Bubble" - In relation to St.Kilda's inpenetrable bubble "Unsocialable Football" - Referring to Hawkthorn's so called style of play. They apparently get back to this whenever they hit some form. "That is definitely Goal/Mark of the year!!!" - Heard on a weekly, sometimes daily basis Some weekly favourites "Cheater" - Going to get thrown around now thanks to Mick Malthouse. "Give Stevie J all 6 Brownlow Votes" - ... seriously? And the best of them all "F u Dawson" - Seen in the live chat alot last weekend when Zac Dawson sat on Goddard's head!
Fat-side (not used as much this year) Inside player Outside player Booming left-footer Big motor/big tank eg. 'Curnow will have an impact in the final quarter as he's got such a big motor on him'

Try counting the times he finishes a comment with don't you, wouldn't you, can't you, etc... Oh, you just get the feeling the tide is turning in this match, don't you? He's had an extraordinary match, hasn't he? You'd like to see him follow a mark like that with a goal, wouldn't you? Memo Bruce: grow some stones and make a definitive statement rather than deferring to everyone else in the booth for approval (Phew... I'm off my soapbox now)
