Hamish played his first out of 3 VFL games on the weekend.

Also Jolly had 29 hitouts and 23 possies so he could be a good POD in the rucks if you want go that way

What about McEvoy for a sideways?

Been tearing it up the last 4 weeks or so, bye out the way, and make $40K or so on the deal.

Be interested in opinions from Saints supporters...

According to the Herald-Sun, a foot expert has cleared him of the need to have surgery, so should just miss a month:

    http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/fremantle-giant-aaron-sandilands-could-miss-the-rest-of-the-season/story-e6frf9jf-1226082409488

Which would have him back Round 19. Considering the rd 16 bye, that's only 3 weeks you'd need to cover for him in theory. Though who knows if it will just be a month.

I'm low on trades, so will have to go Cox/Petrie/Smith as cover for the time being.

If you need your trades and in a good position in your league may as well just keep him and ruck Cox/Smith until then...

Cop the 0 this week for hopefully long term gain the finals!!

He's essentially a 3 week miss for leagues.

Even if he misses 5 weeks there are multibyes in rounds 16 & 19.

Question is how will he be when he comes back after missing so much footy.

If Smith keeps getting a game and Vardy gets back in (surely the dud Hawkins cannot hold his spot) then I'm thinking I will wait right up till League finals then trade Smith to Sandi / Jolly / Mummy / whoever is fit and looking OK.

Rucks have not been a sound long-term investment this year. Think I'll wait till last possible minute for someone to share with Big Cox.

I'm with you there Corks. The two multibye rounds coming up seal the deal. At least there is good news with the specialist confirming it won't require surgery, and should be back after 4.

I will eat a donut this week for it though, with only Cox and Smith my playing rucks.

    Yeah, I'm thinking the same.

Can get by with my Cox/Smith/Petrie combo until finals time.

I was one of the ones who kept him, but I don't think I can justify doing it again.
If I hold off for 3 more league games, then he comes out and plays another half-game of footy, I'll possibly never play Supercoach ever again.
The timing of his come-back and the timing of finals worry me too. If Freo are sealed in or out of the 8, why would they bother risking him for the few remaining home and away rounds?
Even looking at sideways options...Goldstein and Petrie are no-go options due to the bye. Same deal with Ottens, Kreuzer et al, and I don't really trust McEvoy to continue his form for the entire season.
After that, you're getting down to people who aren't scoring high enough to justify playing over Zac Smith.

The more I think about it, the more I think it makes sense to get rid of Sandi and spend a whole bunch of cash, get 2 or maybe even 3 upgrades out of him and wear a slightly weak 2nd ruck as a result.

i hear u Midge, looks like those who got rid of him first time round were the winners, so im looking at Jamar, this week, or jolly in a couple if hes looking good, the only thing in waiting for jolly is sandi is closer to a return. this is one time i wish i had a itchy trigger finger and said bye bye sandi earlier.

Leagues. Nothing to lose by keeping him unless you are really struggling to make the 8.

Think long term not short term.

    Hold fire with the trades.

I got 8 left and wont be using them anytime soon.

hold him and you will have a big cash reserve come finals time. Then you can choose what your bets trade options are around your entire team rather than risk picking blokes now who may themselves get injured.

I don't have Petrie so I'm going to bring him in now with Joel Tippett later on. I am going to use Petrie as my F7 and swing ruckman when needed.

I'm thinking of bringing Chapman in as my bench forward and midfielder as cover for week 1 of the finals so shouldn't lose out too much for North's bye.

Hopefully Sandi comes back and drops in price and I can bring him back in.

    Everyone's a winner

Even if he comes back there is not guarantee that he is going to be ripping out 100+ scores. Might take a few weeks to get his fitness back up and going, remember by time he comes back he would have missed like 8 or more weeks!!

personally i think mumford is the best option for sandilands if leagues are the focus which they are for me. Im not sure whether hes back this week or next from that suspension but he has a high break even anyway so can afford to see what he does for a week or two and what progress sandlilands is making from the injury before trading him out.

Its still a last resort for me to offload him as i could see all those who dont have him jumping on board for the finals and him getting back to his 150+ best. i certainly dont want that if i trade him out after being so patient!

My original plan was to hold sandi after the original injury and then trade smith to make cash to complete my mids. I still need to complete mids and will go with my cox/smith/Petrie combination for now with Petrie switching into the fwd line when required with Tippett. I will now be trading sandi this week to a rookie to complete my mids with the $ earned.

I'm concerned that when sandi returns he won't be anywhere near his best for a few weeks as he works back match fitness. Even if he does fire up from the get go he will lose $40-$50k in value (thanks to last week's 44) meaning it will prob only cost you $60k to upgrade to him from Zac smith later on during finals. Obviously cash and trades are required for this plan to work. It allows me the flexibility to complete my team as well as to see how the big fella responds when he returns and pick him up if required!

Anyone one know who is more likely to get a game between the 91,700 rucks, or all no chance?? Picking one either way just rather have the one that could play.
    Cheers

Just wondering what people are going to do if they only have Petrie in as cover for Sandi (ie no Zac Smith).

I have Cox and had Sandi with Petrie on the bench (no link to forwards after stupidely trading it away). I traded Sandi at the start of the original toe injury for Vardy.

So am now relying on Petrie as R2 which is working fine, but he has the bye in Rd21 SC finals. Is it enough to rely on Vardy (if playing) to cover Petrie for that week in the rucks and or do I really need another plan?

I had originally planned to get Sandi back before Rd21 for Petrie but with Sandi injuring THAT toe again I'm not convinved this will be a good move unless Sandi comes back firing. What are my other options?

My wife's team will be trading in Lobbe for Darling (or similar) in the FWD's.
This re-creates the link although Lobbe at $196K ain't as cheap as a genuine rookie.
This option suits her situation and maybe yours.
