    Okay guys,

Settling in with most of my selections and now it's time for POD research.

Who is on your watch radar?
    And Why?

I'm going to watch the Doggies for a new tackling machine and possibly a fwd now that Bazza has gone.

Also interested in the Hawks fwds - Gunston??? Will there be enough ball coming in for the new fwds?

    Cheers

Liam Jones will play 22 games at full forward and pretty much has to increase his pitiful SC average as a result. But I don't think the modest increase would be enough to interest SC coaches much.

    @SKT
Surely most of your team is a POD again this year?

Well, strangely enough I think Gibbs and Hodge are going to be PODs this year.

Plenty of POD's around. What you were referring to with the Doggies and Hawks are more the breakout type players. They are much harder to find.

POD's for 2012 will most likely include:

    Cox
    J Watson
    Dal Santo
    Hodge
    Boyd
    Mitchell
    Scotland
    N Roo
    J Roo
    Kennedy

E.g. the premiums people believe will fall away due to injury concerns, age, sliding teams, role changes etc.

If you pick a breakout player correctly, most people will jump on him after his first big price rise. Then he won't be a POD anymore. But if one of the above have a ripper season (e.g. Dal 2011) its much harder to hop on as it might require a sideway (forbidden) trade.

Would love Buddy in midfield, will mean Gunston is certain to get a lot of ball for my ORFFL team.

I'm still thinking Nick and Jack Riewoldt are POD potential in my side this season.

Watching both closely in the NAB for any chinks in the armour (loose dicks sink ships)

oh, and I think Bower could be a valuable POD, but maybe that should go in a rookie forum given his price

Bryce Gibbs was #1 pick in 2006, the year after Pendles, Thomas and Murphy who all proved elite this year. With him restricted to midfield only, he could prove to be a POD.

I am thinking about Gibbs but problem is I can't see him as midfield only he will go forward as well.

So Gibbs vs Andrew Swallow is my dilemma but I am leaning towards Swallow because he will spend more time in midfield.

Dekka - POD means Point of Difference, means the type of player who not everyone picks, meaning it gives you an alternate run through the field. See everyone's gonnatake ablett, goddard, franklin, etc... so if you want to get a break on the field pick some PODs.
