He is 286,000, had a bad year last year but was a supercoach god the years before it, will he come back? Basically my main question is, is Brian Lake worth the risk? Is he in your team?

No. I don't think he is worth the risk I think is better to use the cash elsewhere.

Worth it if you think he can average 85-90 or higher
Not worth it if he can't.

He's in at the moment... but it changes daily. If I'm going to take a risk this year, I think it will be on him.

Any word on form in the pre season?

He didn't play in the first round of NAB, he played some of their intra-club game but his form is pretty much unknown on all fronts at the moment..
Most people will decide on him the hours before lockout I think :p

I agree too big a risk and they're are a lot better cash cow options to make you money in the backline.

He will definitly be in my team if he just doesnt get injured, I think he can get back to averaging 90-95 just injury in the way...

I would rather take the risk on Ryan Hargrave, a little cheaper and imo far more scoring potential.

Jason what's your opinion on Shaggy? He looked pretty good in your NAB cup game and with Morris out and Lake half fit he seems like your most senior defender. Will this translate to some points or to a lock down defender role? Is Gilbee finally going to be given the boot?

Also anyone watch the Melbourne Brisbane Gold Coast, Magner looks good and Tynan was great while he was on. Good point with hargrave.. not sure at all what to do

Hargrave looked to be back to full pace during his NAB Cup hitout. I don't expect him to be a Top10 defender, but he certainly presents some value on his start price. He has a 20% discount on his 2011 average for starters.

Yeah that was my impression also. I'd rather take a punt on a fully fit Hargrave than a half fit Lake at the same price. Your correct though, definitely not a top 10 defender, so I'll need to weigh up my options.

    IMO - Conca > Hargrave > K.Hunt > Lake...

Im feeling crazy at the moment and like BOTH Hargrave and Lake.
Regardless of preseason talk i think Lake will simply be primed for round 1
and the fact is, hes good enough so long as hes recovered from his ops.

It will be very interesting to see how he goes Sunday afternoon against the Blues, Apparently will be named. Whilst I'm skeptical...I'll keep an eye on him just in case.

If he plays in the backline exclusively in the NAB cup then he's definitely worth the risk if he shows enough form, if he plays up forward at any stage (which I suspect he might due to the Bulldogs lack of talls up there) then no.

I think Lake is one you could trade into if he lights it up in the first 2 rounds.

Agree BW. I had Lake but booted him and his mate Hargrave took his place, keeping the round 11 bye going.

I think if Lake shows something over the next few weeks people will be jumping from Hargrave back to Lake. Huge upside if you're a gambler.
