With the rookie elevations being announced today does that mean all hope is lost for Lee Spurr to be elevated to Freo's senior list? Did they even have room on their senior list? How can we view a club's LTI list & Veteran list to ascertain if rookie positions are available for use? Damn you Ross Lyon!

Big chance I'm proven wrong here but I believe clubs had to finalise any selections being elevated for players on veterans lists where players are put on LTI lists throughout the year and are replaced when required, or desired.

Not 100% sure thats right though DCAK.

Clubs are permitted to upgrade rookies for long-term injury list players at any time while that player is injured.

At Tuesday's deadline, clubs with only one veteran also had scope to elevate a rookie to their senior list.

Five clubs have elected to use a total of seven compensation selections at the 2012 AFL draft in November this year.

The Bulldogs, with a round one pick, GWS with a round one pick and Melbourne with a round one pick all indicated they would use the compensation selections in what is shaping as a super draft in 2012.

Melbourne will also have a mid-round one pick, Brisbane an end of round one pick, Richmond activated a round two pick and the Western Bulldogs a round three pick.

The clubs can on-trade these compensation selections to another club in 2012 trade period, but all selections have to be used at the 2012 draft.

Geelong, GWS, Gold Coast and West Coast all chose to bank compensation picks for future drafts.

Am pretty sure both Melbourne & North Melbourne have an LTI who they're allowed upgrade a rookie for at any time, that's why we expected couch to be elevated as well as magner.

North have already elevated a rookie because of LTI - Mullet. A Mid who played 3 games last year, which means Gibson, for whatever reason is only on the periphery.

Magner has this morning been cleared to play R1 after his finger dislocation injury, according to report in the Age.

Jason - bugger! Really wanted Magner to miss R1 so the great unwashed would leave him out. Would have helped the Captaincy loophole as well.

Here's hoping for a minor setback...

I read north still have an upgrade spare to use whenever they want, but are content with current squad & don't want to rush into elevating Gibson right away, keeping their options open in case a better candidate emerges at a later time.
If they lock in Gibson now, with no intent playing him yet, they don't want to risk being in a position where they have a better option later who they arent allowed to upgrade.
