G'day guys couple of questions Mitchell or swallow ? D Martin or j barrel or chappy ? And Cloke or rioli ? Cheers
Mitchell, Martin and neither... But if had to choose one Cloke due to fact he can play full season, whereas Rioli will miss games...
I took Swallow due to Kanga's draw and he's a Rnd 11 bye for my teams balance. Mitchell better player. Don't have Martin or Chappy but wanted both it was more to accommodate others. Dropped martin out of line up due to richmond's early draw but hope to pick him up later. Hopefully will pick up Chappy as well. Don't have Cloke but think he will do well this year would take him over Rioli. Love Rioli but he's too injury prone. Both have potential to go big.
Yeah, Swallow and Martin were easy to pick, Cloke v Rioli was a tough call, maybe bias swung me to slightly lean towards Cloke too.
Looking forward to bringing Martin in at a cheaper price after the tough early draw, then watching him explode
Cheers guys for the reply might throw another bloke into the mix wat do we think about this A swallow or rockliff? Both should have booming seasons
Now, Swallow only just, due to more experience. Rockliff to be one of the best ever, in another year or 2...
was just thinking earlier today that I may have overlooked Gibbs, Gibbs & Selwood are the only 2 premiums who I give a decent chance to, of holding their values by round 8.
@Tuna, I like Gibbs as a player and see him improving his average, but I just don't think he's going to be a Top 10 mid come season end, which is what you expect when you select a premium in the mids. Taking as a given that Murphy and Judd are going to again be amongst the Top 10 averaging mid, it's near on impossible to see a third player from Carlton on that list. Someone did a similar analysis last year on here, and it was pretty useful for me. A good example is Collingwood of 2011. Pendles, Swan and Thomas averaged 129, 122, 109 respectively in a team that has the second highest average in the competition. Thomas' average was good for 14th spot in the midfield rankings averaging 4ppg less than no.10 ranked Sam Mitchell. By no means a disaster, especially if you put the money saved at the start of the season to good use, but my view is that you always try to pick the cream of the crop in the midfield.
Judd might just give way to Gibbs this year, age & all, people scoffed at similar last years pre season prediction that Murphy would overtake Judd... Is Gibbs next in line? Judd - 83' - nab SC points per minute tog = .522 - $'s per point = $13,328 Murphy - 87 - nab SC points per minute tog = .711 - $'s per point = $8,826 Gibbs - 89' - nab SC points per minute tog = .800 - $'s per point = $6,656
I see Judd having a slow start to the season due to his offseason shoulder(?) surgery, but I think you have to look at someone like Mitch Robinson as someone who might take some of his points rather than Gibbs. I'm not a Carlton expert by any means, but Judd, Murphy and Robinson seem to be their main inside ballwinners, while Gibbs is more of an outside player. If Gibbs improves his points average, I think it will be someone like Kade Simpson who is giving up some of his own points, all other things being equal.
I'd roll the dice, but I'm much more keen on Griffen. He'll join Boyd as an elite this year. Even though he's missing the first round, he's primed to go elite and for the first round I have Kennedy as emergency for cover.
