Barring injury or suspension in remaining Round 2 games, I had no intention of trading pre-Round 3 because I'm happy with my team. And I really want to keep the faith in Broughton, because I considered him a keeper.

But if Ross Lyon keeps playing him back - and there is every risk of that with Mundy still to come back, not to mention the bloke below - am I better to avoid the huge hit his price will take next week and just bring in the in-form Alex Rance and pocket almost $50K?

My second Lyon issue is Michael Barlow. He was my midfield POD and if he wasn't named in Round 1 because of his leg issues, I was going to give him a miss. Instead he was named, gets the vest two weeks running, but tears it up in both second halves. Surely his leg's either right or it isn't. Has anyone got any idea what's going on in Lyon's head, and is this madness going to continue?

So do I ditch Broughton AND Barlow, scrape up every cent I have and bring in Rance and an in-form midfielder for 500K-550K? (and some good candidates have emerged in Round 2.) Or do I hold my nerve, save my trades and wait for Lyon to come to his senses? Advice appreciated.

Also, congrats to the 4700 coaches who traded out B Lake this week. Masterstroke.

Your last statement should answer your questions.

Barlow must be THE best POD so far & you picked him! Why would you want to trade him??
He was undercooked coming in and has shown why he is prob going to be a must come yrs end (top 6 mids). Cant see Ross using for sub ever again - so long as the leg can handle. Hold/Buy

Broughton is alot tougher case. I can see him staying in this tag/shut down role as Crowley aint what he used to be and deBoer not as good at it. Lower may get it on return.
He is a lottery but a Hold for mine.

I'm ditvhing Broughton. I'm seen enough over the last two weeks to have real concerns over his role. He is playing a lock down defensive role.

Barlow you may as well keep the faith now - has had no pre-season so Lyon just easing him in. I reckon he will avoid the vest 3 weeks in a row.

Freo play Bris at home next week, you might want to check what Broughton scored against them last year before jumping ship. Wouldn't be surprised with 120+, wouldn't be surprised with 55.

139 DT, 145 Sc last time vs Brisbane at Subi, 25 June 2011, even got a hitout!

Broughtons staying in my side for one reason, i cant find any player who is jumping out at me and saying trade me in. Im not sold on Dempsey and Shannon Hurn is the only other player i would consider at the moment(as i choke on my coffee)

They say Broughton scores well against Swans too !. Think the prediction was 130 odd ?. I have him up until start of round three !!. In fact I have the trifecta of dissapointment I spent 1.7M on Broughton, Fyfe & Pav and reaped 223 points !!. Last week the same three got me 263 !! And thats with Pav's late winning goal ?.With Pav stuck forward and Broughton stuck back things are grim when combined with Lyons negetive game plan.

Ah, you bring back memories for a Kangas supporter @ha.

I used to say those exact words every year when we inevitably traded one of our good prospects to the Hawks for yet another one of their proven :spud:s

How do you guys see pavs prospects? Was lucky to get 97 last week, after kicking a match winning goal, and a very dissapointing 66 yesterday after 9 touches in the first quarter. Im thinkning of trading him to watson.

Birchall is a perfect replacement for Broughton, and I am strongly considering. Just watch tomorrows game to find out.

I hate early trades, but Broughton's value may drop a fair bit. I'll wait until I see a breakeven on Broughton.

Stanton would be an ideal alternative to Barlow, but I'd hold onto Barlow anyway.

Will hold Barlow, thanks guys - think I just needed some moral support. Still far from convinced about Broughton but struggling for options I've now realised that Lids and Morris will preclude Rance from my backline. Hell, maybe I'll have to downgrade to Lake! Will check out Birchall tomorrow and ponder on it through the week.

Appreciate all the wisdom I've been reading on tooserious, wish I'd discovered it last season. Plenty of knowledge, a bit of humour and very few trolls - great stuff.

    @adelaideeagle

I think you should keep Broughton. Definitely. Make him captain. All year.

Lot of people will go Pav -> Fyfe this week I suspect
I don't have Broughton, but if I did I would trade him out for Beau Waters and keep the change
