So much to think about....... Both are playing teams they can beat IMO but which one in your opinion will score higher? I keep changing the captain and can't decide with this important decision.
I question Murphy's captaincy credentials for this week for two reasons. 1. Whilst he is a consistent 120 odd game player, and he has scored a 140 or so this season, I can't see him ripping out a 150+ game anytime soon. 2. He usually has relatively quiet first quarters, the points scaling might be pretty much used up by 1/4 time. With Judd out however, he could be forced to get more contested ball which might offset this and in fact lead to a higher than usual score, thus contradicting everything I have said until now
remember the 3300 rule. And no Judd to steal points.... that said Simpson and/or Scotland might just soak up the extra points between them. Also the kid with the giant shorts will probably kick 10 and post a huge score. My C will go to swan.
Gonaddz, I think Murphy is the lockiest of all locks for captain. Shepherds Pie rule - check it out in the captain's thread mate, contribute to it, it's on the main page. You'll get all you need with a thumbs up, thumbs down question. http://tooserious.net/captains-log-round-6 Not sure it's worth a thread here, when the big discussion's already happening on the main page.
Lock Murphy in, I am. Judd out and although the big scores are often shared around vs GWS and GC, at Etihad and with Carlton going to wallop them, I reckon it is a lock. And the Friday night captain curse for Swan and Pendles. 160 for Murphy I reckon, 2/3 goals with his 30+ possies.
Something doesn't feel right about the murphy lock this round, can't quite put my finger on it, but with no Judd, I expect Sheeds will be directing a little extra attention Murphy's way. Off the long breaks, I reckon a Pie or Bomber should go largest this week.
Mid scores for the highest averaging mids per team against GWS thus far: Rnd 1, Kennedy: 137 Rnd 2, A.Swallow: 128 Rnd 3, S.Selwood: 145 Rnd 4, Thompson: 110 Rnd 5, Boyd: 133 Pretty safe bet that Murphy will score something in that range.
Very nice feedback! Thanks guys! And Lucas you seem to have a way with words and always sway me to the other side as your experience always bears weight. Murphy's Law it is!
Even if Sheeds does send someone to Murphy it just means more of his possessions will be contested. Murphy for me.
I think Murphy will get the C this week. 3 bulldogs got 106 disposals between them last week so if GWS have a tagger they are not too effective. Murphy is in peak fitness and will be high up in the brownlow votes so if he is playing I cant see him being rested for parts of the game unless he gets a heavy knock or picks up an injury. The Blues have a fairly easy run for the next 5 weeks so will rest players for the full game if they dont want them to play.
I'd pick Simpson to be the blues biggest scorer, when the game's done and dusted by half time, he'll junk it up & get plenty of favours in his milestone game.
Can't see any value until sunday jb, i'll just be putting a small bet on each underdog to get the quarter time lead & hope for half the tosses to go the right way.

Quote from Moblets on May 4, 2012, 22:39 Go against the second perma captain in the league at your peril. Great job Pendles!!
Agree

Quote from obleex on May 4, 2012, 19:40 Going Murphy but of course now that I've made that choice, Pendles will go 150+.
Soo so close! 145! 5 more than last week. Much better than Swan who pulled a crappy 112!
