Unfortunately, time is a bit of an issue with this week's Podfather, so there won't be the usual big write-ups on each player. Obviously, everyone's team will be hurt by the biggest injury of the season; David Mackay missing with a hamstring. Word is he'll miss a fair bit of footy so we need to try and replace him. Oh, and that Ablett guy too.
Of course, there has been plenty of talk this week about potential replacements for the little master. You're probably sick of reading about it as well. Again, this will be the focus of the Podfather this week as we look at some less popular replacements for Gary Ablett.

    Callan Ward (GWS) - Mid - $592,400 - 114.20 - 6.27%
Will cop the tag and has Crowley this week so he's not one I'm considering. Been very consistent this season although he may begin to tire with having to carry his team over the next couple without Treloar and Coniglio.

    Rory Sloane (Adel) - Mid - $567,800 - 113.40 - 4.59%
Many don't think Sloane is a POD yet he is in less than 5% of teams. Reliable each and every week, it's still a risk to pick him as he could receive more attention.

    Steele Sidebottom (Coll) - Mid - $576,500 - 109.50 - 1.07%
Not one many will think about, Sidebottom has a huge ceiling however he tends to drop below 100 every 2-3 weeks. Isn't one to get too many scores in the 70s, however. Got a near 180 score a couple of weeks ago.

    Michael Barlow (Freo) - Mid - $547,000 - 108.27 - 3.60%
Bringing in Fremantle players is riddled with risk as Lyon has a tendency to rest his players at this stage of the season. Always good for a 100-110 score.

    Kieren Jack (Syd) - Mid - $518,700 - 105.21 - 3.87%
After a couple of down weeks, the co-captain of Sydney will want to bounce back in a positive manner. A good, cheaper option.

    Matthew Boyd (WB) - Mid - $510,200 - 107.67 - 1.23%
60-odd last week hurts his average, however Boyd has scored very well in an injury-affected season. Libba and Griffen are ahead of him in the pecking order meaning there's no pressure on the former captain. Could average 110.

    Dylan Shiel (GWS) - Mid - $518,300 - 94.00 - 0.38%
One completely out of left-field here, Shiel has averaged 109.4 in his last 5 matches. Treloar and Coniglio will miss at least this week while Ward will cop the Crowley tag. That puts Shiel in the box seat to be GWS' leading SC scorer. Has averaged close to 107 since his bye and can go big.

    Ryan Griffen (WB) - Mid - $451,100 - 88.77 - 2.84%
It's been an injury-affected season for the skipper of the Bulldogs, but we all know what he is capable of. This trade nets you $222k and you bring in a player not many are considering, and once that can get 120s on a consistent basis. A matter of how much of a risk you're willing to take.
