In a few weeks I'll be atmy first game at Etihad, can anyone recommend a good place on the Spencer Street side nearby to have a quiet beer before or after the match ?? Cheers TTH

Hey mate crown casino is only 5 mins walk from etihad. If u aren't vego I'd recommend hitting the merrywell and having the merrywell burger for dinner. Of course the casino has quite a few drinking holes as well however after the game on the weekend they will become quite packed. Hope that helps a little!

Bar Humbug on little bourke is not a bad little joint. They have little creatures in tap, which is my fav.

Nixon is not on the spencer street side but very close, and a reasonable place full of footygoers before a game. Royal melbourne is also a good spot

I usually go to the royal. It's not exactly quiet before games, in fact it's usually packed but the atmosphere is usually good. Otherwise get a longneck at safeway in spencer st station and drink it on the lawn outside the Age building :D

+1 for Rogue and Saint and the grub is good too, if a little spendy. When I visit Melbourne from Singapore I like to stay at the Vibe Savoy across the road from Spencer Street station. The bus from the airport stops and leaves from Spencer Street and is less than 5 mins walk to Vibe Savoy. Bar Humbug is nice little bar too and close by as well.

The Woolshed mate. Directly opposite Etihad on Central Pier. Awesome venue, we go there before and after most games.
