In Australia we have been trying for many generations to stop Racism and now in one foul decision the AFL has created an AFL team made up of only Indigenous players that will be allowed to play in Ireland in October. If an ' only white team ' was picked imagine the outcry .It just isnt right. Why have the AFLwound back the clockre RACISM. Politicians must stop this tour now for the good of our country if the AFL wont. South Africa ... there were massive protests for years re sport and the exclusion of Sth African teams in all sports world wide because of racism. Now, anyone is good enough to play in the Sth African national teams not just whites but not in Australia , why not ? Racism is alive and well in the AFL . This is a very sad day for Australia . http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news...

Completely unacceptable by the AFL in my opinion. Selecting a team not based on merits or ability, but solely based on being of a particular race!

yeah, I have to agree with most of that. Whilst I will be interested in the games, I dont think its right. All players deserve the right to get a game on merit. I dont think its comparable to the racism that Indigenous Australian peoples face every day in Australia, its not fair and a strange decision by the AFL IMO.It is institutionalising an 'us and them' mentality and is not in the spirit of reconciliation.

the only reason they picked the indigenous squad was because a;; the other stars of the afl werent interested in playing, they would rather rest, so now with the decision to play an indigenous squad means that they are all interested !!!

Wrong statement by you. Many players that are not indigenous have played for Australia v Ireland and still want to . A number of indigenous playershave NEVER played for Australia v Ireland for one reason or another, so suddenly they are available. Its a racist tour and must not proceed .

I don't see why you people are making such a big fuss about this. What's wrong with a team of REAL Australians representing Australia? No one ever takes this series seriously anyway

    [span style='color: #2e2e2e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px;]Well what an absolute farce this has become!!! <div>[span style='color: #2e2e2e; line-height: 15px;]Surely the AFL aren't being serious with the selection of this discriminatory squad!!!
    I have no problems with the following players from the 33 man squad announced today: <strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; color: #2e2e2e; line-height: 15px;]HarleyBennell[/b](Gold Coast),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Shaun Burgoyne[/b](Hawthorn),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Allen Christensen[/b](Geelong),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Shane Edwards[/b](Richmond),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]LanceFranklin[/b](Hawthorn),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Curtly Hampton[/b](GreaterWestern Sydney),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Josh Hill[/b](West Coast),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]StephenHill[/b](Fremantle),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Michael[/b]<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Johnson[/b](Fremantle),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Steven[/b]<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Motlop[/b](Geelong),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Danyle Pearce[/b](Fremantle),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Mathew Stokes[/b](Geelong),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Andrew Walker[/b](Carlton),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Michael Walters[/b](Fremantle),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Daniel Wells[/b](North Melbourne) - they definitely all deserve their place on their own merits no worries, however it is the rest of the squad where the big question marks must be raised as to the seriousness of the AFL's selection committee!!! Although on their best form<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Courtenay Dempsey[/b](Essendon),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Bradley Hill[/b](Hawthorn),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Lindsay Thomas[/b](North Melbourne),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Travis Varcoe[/b](Geelong) &<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]SharrodWellingham[/b](West Coast) would be no problems for me, however they have all had their inconsistencies during the season and to see them get selected in the 33 man squad ahead of a player like Chad Wingard is an absolute farce!!! I also question how <strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Patrick Ryder[/b](Essendon) gets the nod ahead of someone like Zac Clarke who has absolutely smashed it this season!!! Then we have to look at the selections of<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Adam Goodes[/b](Sydney) &<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Brandon Matera[/b](Gold Coast), both been out injured for a fair while with no guarantee of returning before the end of the season!!! <strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Eddie Betts[/b](Carlton),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Alwyn Davey[/b](Essendon),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Leroy Jetta[/b](Essendon),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Ash McGrath[/b](Brisbane),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Chris Yarran[/b](Carlton), whilst undeniably having ability, have all been well below their best this season and don't deserve selection ahead of other more consistent Indigenous players!!! And as for<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; color: #2e2e2e; line-height: 15px;]<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px;]Tony Armstrong[/b][/b][span style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; color: #2e2e2e; line-height: 15px;](Sydney Swans),<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px;]Lewis Jetta[/b](Sydney Swans) &<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px;]Andrew Krakouer[/b](Collingwood), well they can't win regular places in their team so how the hell can they be selected ahead of Indigenous players that are playing consistently??? [span style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; color: #2e2e2e; line-height: 15px;]Finally, isn't<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; color: #2e2e2e; line-height: 15px;]Aaron Davey[/b](Melbourne) &<strong style='font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; line-height: 15px; color: #2e2e2e;]Nathan Lovett-Murray[/b](Essendon) retiring at season's end??? Why select them ahead of the Wingards, Clarkes, etc then???
