Round 6, and finally a big(ish) round. At least bigger than the last few that have been.
Well, not for me- I had a shocker, but Im seeing a lot of good ones out there!
Full review is over the break though.

Western vs Collingwood
Result: Collingwood by 21, 15.8.98 to 11.11.17
Boy, the Pies are just doing enouhg these days arent they- The Doggies were right in this one til the death, and really, with some more accuate kicking would have made it very difficult for the Pies in the first.
Griffen was great for the Dogs, top scoring on a massive 152SC, off 33 disposals and kicking 2.2
Cross was a little jibbed for mine, 31 disposals at a 97% efficiency for just 109SC.
Hargrave and Lake both continue to be fantastic pickups, with scores of 95SC and 91SC.
Boyd disappointed, his 29 touches just making 81SC, but it was Dahlhaus who really let is owners down, some exellent work over the last few weeks really let down by just 12 touches and a 38SC. The dangers of the mid-pricer!
A lot of the usual suspects for Collingwood, with Pendles leading the charge on 145SC. Forward options followed him with Beams and Sidebottom both fantastic with 137SC and 131SC.
Shaw was next, bouncing back with a very tidy 120SC off 22 touches and a goal, and Swan rounded out their top5 players with another solid 112SC.
Clarke is a beautiful pick, his 100SC just fantastic.
Heroes: Griffen, Pendles, Beams, Sidebottom, Clarke.
Villians: Boyd, Dahlhaus.
Essendon vs Brisbane
Result: Essendon by 67, 19.15.129 to 9.8.62
I have to say, as a Bombers fan, its nice to hear the media starting to talk seriously about the Bombers. There disposal seems to have gone up a level this year, along with Hurley and Crameri (The former of which missed this game). Personally, Im keeping a lid on it, but wow, the way its shaping up, theres going to be some good teams missing out on the 8 this year.
Oh the laughs that went around when I made that Stanton the Perma-captain gaff last week- and a lot of fun was made of those coaches who traded him in from Ablett, but I reckon its the Stanton owners that are laughing this week. 39 disposals, 17 marks and 3 behinds for 154SC moves Stanton to the #1 point scorer this year. Not bad.
There were 8 ton scorers for the Dons including Lonergan (142), Watson (134), Bellchambers (121), Zaharakis (110), Fletcher (105), Melksham (102) and Crameri (100).
In fact, the only real disappointment for Essendon was that of Paddy Ryder, just 8 disposals for a pretty lack-luster 72SC.
JB managed a top for the Lions with 104SC off 21 touches, and Hanley did fine with a 91SC, but there were plenty of disappointments.
Rockliffs up and down season continues, with his 21 touch, 74SC being the last time he scores the Captains armband from my team this year.
Adcock and Gorby only managed a 59SC, while rookie option Longer only managed a 23SC before being subbed off.
Crisp did nicely, breaking his bubble with a 72SC, but I do have a feeling that hell be moving back to the 2nds as a couple of injuries return over the next week or two.
Heroes: Stanton, Watson
Villians: Ryder, Adcock
Geelong vs Melbourne
Result: Geelong by 43, 17.17.119 to 11.10.76
It was always going to be a one sided match, and really the result was no suprise, Geelong ran away with it and Melbourne had no answers. They did keep themselves in the hunt early with accuarate kicking making th emost of limited opportunity, and hey, had they kept up that accuracy in the second half, perhaps Id be writing a different review.
Johnson, as he did last year, tore the Demons a new one. 35 disposals, kicking 3.2 and scoring a mighty 169SC will see his fall stopped instantly and I reckon will see him a popular pickup this week.
Chappy did a little of his own bouncing back, with a tidy 122SC, while Enright did nicely with a 104SC.
On Melbournes side, do people have any Demons anymore? Magner sure, but I reckon his 61SC could see him culled this week for the very tasty looking Horsely.
Heroes: S.Johnson, Chappy.
Villians: Sylvia.
Gold Coast vs Fremantle
Result: Fremantle by 7, 14.10.94 to 14.3.87
I love accuarate kicking, and seriously, 14.3 was nearly enough to knock up a massive upset. Sadly though, with Bock breaking a leg early, and Swallow, Brennan and McKenzie all restricted, it was always going to be an impossible task- particularly with Gaz still on the sidelines.
Still, those young Suns are gunna be a worry soon!
Leading the charge for the Suns was Bennell. A massive 37 touch game brought up a 141SC. The other fellow we should be paying close attention to is Kyal Horsely. 25 touches and 98SC brings him well and truely onto the bubble, and a good game next week will see a very tidy price rise.
On fremantles side, Pav scored very well. 24 disposals for a 148SC - Was a little contraversial, or at least- there were a few words said on TS, questioning just how he managed such a score.
Still, Im not one of the Boffins, so Im sure its deserved.
Pearce continues to be an excellent pickup, 29 disposals and a 104SC this week.
Heroes: Bennell, Horsely, Pavlich, Pearce
Villians: Ballantyne
St. Kilda vs Hawthorn
Result: Hawthorn by 35, 18.15.123 to 13.10.88
Gotta say, the Saints kept this match interesting. Getting the jump early, you knew it would be a good match- but the Hawks did progressively pull the match out. That said, towards the end of the third, the Saints showed something, nailing a couple of clutch goals. But the Hawks were just too strong in the 4th, kicking 5 goals to 1 and storming out for a big win.
Cyril Rioli was a god. 18 touches and a massive 6 goals. Freaky goals. For 139SC. Hot on his heels though was Franklin. Kicked 5.6 and managed 131SC. Just wish he could kick straight.
Roughead (120), Mitchell (117), Guerra (106) and Hale (102) were the other Hawks who cracked the ton.
Birchall in his first game back wasnt great, only picked up 21 touches for a 68SC.
Goddard top scored for the Sainters, with 26 touches and 120SC, while NRoo managed a 108SC.
Lots of bad news though, with Fisher getting subbed out injured for 66SC, Dal Santo getting himself tagged out of the game for a 46SC, while rookies Milera and Stanley didnt do there causes well with scores of 54SC and 45SC.
Heroes: Rioli, Franklin, Goddard
Villians: Birchall, Fisher, Dal Santo
Sydney vs Adelaide
Result: Adelaide by 5, 15.9.99 to 14.10.94
Bloody hell, this just turns everything I thought I knew on its head. Sydney were cruising like bosses, while Adelaides position was inflated due to an easy run. How far did that end up as Adelaide managed to upset the Swans- in Sydney!
I didnt see it coming, and it really throws the top8 question well and truely open. But Ill save that for the conclusion.
Leading for the Crows was Sloane with a 29 touch, 125SC. Just behind was Dangerfield and Callinan, on 122SC. The former off 30 touches, and later off 3 goals and 20 disposals.
Thompson did his bit with 31 touches and a 119SC, as did Reilly, who scored a 101SC.
I reckon this is the last time youre gunna see Johncock listed as a villian- just dont get tempted by his price and ttrade into him, ok!
On Sydneys side, Jetta top scored off 27 disposals and 2.2 for a 126SC. Not a bad effort.
Bad news for Goodes owners though, 5 goals and a 110SC was great- the leg injury and subsequent subbing ruined what would have been a special score. Heres hoping he aint out for too long.
Heroes: Sloane, Dangerfield, Parker
Villians: Johncock
Carlton vs GWS
Result: Carlton by 67, 15.20.110 to 6.7.43
I think its funny that for the majority of the game, GWSs kids had more contested possession than "one of the best midfields in the league". Do with think that is more to do with Judd missing, or the Blues not giving the Giants as much respect as perhaps they should have?. Personally, Im leaning towards the latter- but Ill leave one foot in the door of No-Judd, No-Granny.
Top scoring for the Blues was Robinson. Finally bringing his big DT scores home to roost, he managed a 28 touch, 128SC. Hot on his heels, and an awesome performance, was Bower. 22 touches and 122SC. BANG!
Murphy, though he managed 19 contested possession, ran a 48% disposal effieciency and fell down for an 89SC.
Devon Smith. I cant have been the only one to have left him on the bench right? With that big E mocking me!. On the plus side, I was *this* close to trading him out, which would have been a disaster as youd miss his 111SC.
Greene did well, 99SC off 28 touches while Sumner looked a lively type, 15 disposals and 92SC.
Mohr did great, 91SC off 16 disposals and on 90SC was the dual positioned bubble-boy, Taylor Adams. Not bad at all mate, and could force me to double down-grade this week if named again!
Coniglio was good, 23 touches and 87SC, as was McDonald whos 84SC will see him continue to climb the $$tree.
Shiel (74) and Hombsch (64) both did well, but there were a couple of disappointing results.
Namely Bugg (55), Giles (56) and Kennedy (40) - But hey, we cant have them all eating the pie!
Heroes: Robinson, Bower, Smith, Greene, Mohr, Sumner, Adams
Villians: Murphy
Port Adelaide vs Richmond
Result: Richmond by 37, 13.13.01 to 8.6.54
Richmond have had a hugely difficult draw, and yet here they are, after facing 4 of last years top 5, sitting at 2-4 with a 100+ percentage.
Not a bad effort. Really I should talk about the game, but man, Port looked up to their old tricks. Clearing the ball out of their 50, and bang, seeing it fly back above their head after turning it over in the midfield.
Holding his head high was Ebert, with 30 touches and 116SC- he did a fine job. Renouf did worryingly well, with 100SC on the dot. Hopefully Redden can get back in.
Deledio. Gun. 143SC and 24 touches.
Maric. Gun. Never thought I would write that, but another dominant performance in the ruck and the mullet is looking great!
Martin and Newman did enough with scores of 92 and 91, as did rookies Ellis and Morris, racking up 72SC and 63SC respectively.
Heroes: Deledio, Maric
Villians:
West Coast vs North Melbourne
Result: West Coast by 25, 17.18.120 to 15.5.95
North were never ment to win, but with a lot of changes to the Eagles- including the late omision of Naitanui, saw the Roos give it a massive crack.
But Cox was too bloody good. 21 touches and a 141SC, and Im thinking those Cox owners out there might be cursing the game time that NitNat is getting this year!
S. Selwood was once again excellent. 35 disposals and 139SC, as was Hurn who has bounced back from two bad weeks for a 127SC.
Waters also did very nicely for a mid-pricer, with 120SC.
Anyone who picked up Masten based on form so far will be disappointed, just 13 touches and 69SC was well below whats expected.
Meanwhile- if youre hoping Lycett cures your bye-blues, think again. His 7 touches and 45SC wont be enough to help!
On the Roos side, Swallow top scored, as he so often does, with 29 disposals and 120SC. HMac continues to impress with a 111SC, as does Cunnington, who just quietly, is having a very good season.
Heroes: Cox, Selwood, Hurn, Waters, Swallow, McIntosh
Villians: Harvey
So, thats the week. Its hitting upgrade season, when the cows are ready for culling- and new, fresh meat is deliciously on the horizon! Eat up peoples!
And just humour me for a little seqway here- The ladder is slowly taking shape here, but a couple of questionmarks were thrown up I reckon.
The top 8 as it stands are all doing very well, but with North, Hawthorn and Richmond all showing potential top8 hands, its really going to be a crapshoot as to who falls in there.
So, Im curious, after seeing a quarter of the season, whos going to fall away- and who is going to rise?
