Wow, a horrible week for us this week. Im hearing 2400s, 2500s, but with some inspiring performances from Rockliff, Tippett, McDonald, Giles and Broughton- combines with a lack of Thompson, Goodes, Pavlich, Cox, Priddis, Cyril or Chappy- we didnt even break the 2000 mark. Massively diverse week this week.

Collingwood vs Carlton
Result: Carlton by 23, 12.13.85 to 8.14.62
They. Were. The navy Blues, they were the ol dark- and so on. They also put in a Ratten-saving performance as they put the Pies to the sword with greater accuracy. Third quarter, they tried their darnest to give it back, kicking just 1.7- But they had enough in the tank, despite a couple of injuries, particularly subbing out Hampson early, to kick away in the 4th and create an even closer season than before. Great stuff.
7 Blues scored the ton, with Judd top scorign with 32 touches, 126SC and 3 brownlow votes. There was a lot of points shared though, with Carrazzo, Gibbs, Robinson and most importantly for his owners, Kreuzer all doing the job for their coaches.
Duigan go himself swung forward, and while putting on 3 goals for 79SC- the most important factor for mine is ability it leaves for Kreuzer to spend more time in the ruck. That bloke needs to play in the ruck, and while Im sure the stories of him playing injured arent exagerated, the Blues need wins -and with Krooze in the middle, they look their most dangerous.
Blair top scored for the pies with a 116SC, while Swan and Shaw both combined for 112SCs
If you were forced to field a few of the Pie rookies this week, namely Elliot and Williams, you would have been a little disappointed based to prior form. Just a 40SC and 27SC between them. Thought the latter did get himself injured.
Heroes: Judd
Villians:
North Melbourne vs West Coast
Result: West Coast by 2, 12.14.86 to 13.6.84
After pulling out to a 6 goal lead in the middle of the second quarter- once again we saw the Roos give it up, falling behind to the Eagles with just 5 minutes to go. Ouch.
While they were "expected" to lose, it would have been a massive boost to their September credencials, though it does show that they can, on their days, stick it to one of the best in the business.
For the Eagles. Dean Cox. Wow. 21 touches, 24 hitouts, 3 goals and an absolutely massive 215SC.
Now, if thats not a big enough portion of the Pie, sitting right behind him, on 34 disposals was Priddis- who amassed 170SC.
nom nom nom. Delicious pie hogs. Still enough room though for Naitanui to score a 120SC though!
With that much pie gone though, there was always going to be a few villians this game, and that lies squarely on S. Selwood. Just 16 touches and 63SC.
For the home team, Swallow and Harvey were both at their bests, scoring 134SC and 125SC respectively.
A lot of below averages at the Roos, but the only real massive villian was Drew Petrie. Held to 9 touches and 32SC.
Guess thats better than Harper though, who came on in the 4th quarter for absolutely no impact.
Heroes: Cox, Priddis, Naitinui, Swallow, Harvey
Villians: S. Selwood, Petrie
Sydney vs Brisbane
Result: Sydney by 47, 16.14.110 to 9.9.63
A big win to the Swannies who really smashed it after quarter time and just never looked threatened.
Only 5 tons though, McVeigh with a 152SC off 34 touches the best, with Goodes back in top flight, with 22 touches, 3 goals and 148SC.
Reid knocked up a 129SC, while Jack and the late inclusion, Malceski, fell over the mark with a 102SC and 100SC respectively.
Mumford continues to drop in price, this week with a 63SC off just 10 touches.
For the Lions, Zorko top scored. Gun. With 31 touches and a 121SC. Massive selection this year!
Hanley did well, picking up 34 touches and 119SC, while Adcock was the only other Lion to ton up, with 111SC off 21 touches.
Rockliff scores himself a big fat villians guernsey, with 27 touches and only 69SC. Lots of junktime touches, thats for sure.
Heroes: McVeight, Goodes, Reid, Zorko, Hanley
Villians: Mumford, Rockliff
St. Kilda vs Essendon
Result: St. Kilda by 71, 21.7.133 to 8.14.62
Im gunna be honest here. Im still really not ready to talk about this one.
Heroes: Riewoldt
Villians: Stanton, Watson, Ryder, Essendon
Port Adelaide vs Adelaide
Result: Adelaide by 58, 17.14.116 to 8.10.58
Yep, the Power got doubled. Thank goodness they dont field anyone fantasy relevant!
For the Crows, there was some domination at the top of the table, with Jacobs nailing a massive (and record) 61 hitouts- securing him a 146SC.
Right on his tail was Thompson, who scored a 143 off his 32 disposals.
Shaw represented beautifully, filling in for Goddard when needed with a beautiful 98SC off just 17 touches.
Dangerfield did the job with a 97SC, while Porplyzia was thereabouts with his 80SC.
Tippett writes himself right into the villians book. Sure, a head knock early saw him pined for the game, but just 2 kicks, a goal and 23SC is a sad return from someone in such good form.
Heroes: Jacobs, Thompson, Shaw
Villians: Tippett
Hawthorn vs GWS
Result: Hawthorn by 162, 28.25.193 to 4.7.31
Well. The honeymoon is officially over at the GWS. A long season and battered young bodies has officially taken its toll. Im expecting a massive percentage boost for anyone coming up against these blokes for the rest of the year, along with a media-line that tracks that of the Suns last year. (ie- great divide, they did the wrong thing, wah wah wah. Takes more than a year to start playing like a senior player peoples.)
13 tons for the Hawks. Maybe Ill just list them as Heroes and move onto the next game.
Just a shame Buddy got subbed in the 3rd, he was on to a massive one.
Heroes: Hawthorn, Greene
Villians:
Gold Coast vs Geelong
Result: Geelong by 14, 15.20.110 to 13.18.96
Gotta say, if the Suns were playing the Giants right now, they would seriously make up for their performance earlier in the year. They were massive against the Cats, breaking out early, and just showing heart for the entire game. Even when it looked like it was going to blow out, they rallied and kicked the last 3 goals of the game.
Gaz and Rischitelli top scored for the Suns with scores of 110SC, while Harbrow was suprisingly, the only other Sun to crack a ton on 106SC.
Considering the tightness of the game, there was a lot more points on the Cats side, with Kelly top scoring with 27 touches and 148SC. Chappy on his heels with 28 touches and 4 goals for a 141SC- though to be fair, his 2nd quarter got the cats well and truely into the match.
Enright was prominant early, so I was suprised to see him fall away to just 93SC off 27 touches.
Heroes: Kelly, Chapman
Villians:
Fremantle vs Western
Result: Fremantle by 38, 14.11.95 to 8.9.57
Well, it was a tight game through to half time, with goals tough to come by, Freo changed that in the second half though, with Pav blazing them away to victory, keeping their top8 hopes alive.
Pav as mentioned, nailed 6.2 and a very nice 175SC, combining with Mayne who kicked 4.1 for a 139SC.
Pearce did nicely, returning a 92SC for his efforts, however a couple of villians for the Dockers. Broughton made just 52SC off 11 touches, whole Duffield came back as a sub, picking up 34SC from just 7 touches.
For the Doggies, as always, it was Boyd top scoring. 123SC off 35 touches was a classic Boyd effort.
Minson and Lake both put in notible efforts with scores of 117SC and 106SC, while Dickson, if you still have him, was great with 15 touches, 3 goals and 98SC.
Im gunna throw Hargrave on the villians list cause the bugger just cant string games together!!
Heroes: Pavlich, Mayne, Boyd
Villians: Broughton, Duffield, Hargrave
And that was the week.
Gotta say, it takes the wind out of your sails when not only your actual team gets smashed in a game they were favourites for, but when you cant even take solis in dominating in fantasy land. A horrid week all round for me, and one Ill be happy to put behind me.
Cheer me up with some of the good things that happened this week. Anyone take a gamble on Cox captain?
