So, the penultimate round is rolling to a close and I want to hear reports of high scores and grand final appearances!

I also want to hear from that Powertothepeople fella, you know, the one whos leading this whole shebang leading into this round. I heard this weekend that youre rocking out in the TS Port Adelaide league, so if youre reading, Id love to get a word with you before the granny rolls around!

Anyways, the review is over the break!

    <!--more-->

Well, after this weekends results, it looks like the top8 is set. All we are playing for now is ladder position and home finals.

Adelaide should sew up a big win against the Suns, meaning Sydney and Hawthorn will need to win their matches against the Cats and Eagles in order to hold onto their spot. Though there is a chance that Adelaide can secure a top2 birth regardless if they can dominate hard.

West Coast are going to want to win though as Collingwood in 5th look likely to take out their match against the shattered Bombers.

Meanwhile, at the bottom end, North and Fremantle have games against GWS and Melbourne- so if Geelong dont beat the Swans, they could find themselves losing their homeground advantage and traveling interstate (Or maybe even Collingwood in an elimination final!)

So its still a big week coming up, but lets see the games that got us to this point.

    Sydney vs Hawthorn

    Result: Hawthorn by 7, 15.12.102 to 14.11.95

What a bizarre game! Sydney picked themselves 7 of the first 8 goals in the game, holding at one stage a 36 point lead, 18 minutes into the 2nd quarter. After that though, Hawthorn just went BANG. Three unanswered goals to Franklin, two to Burgoyne and a Suckling goal brought the scores level before Malceski hit one back before half time.

Far from the domination (then reverse domination) of the first half, the second half was extremely even, with Syndey putting on 2.2 to Hawthorns 3.5 in the third quarter.

The final term went goal for goal- til a few minutes out when Hawthorn managed to string a second goal together, and a 7 point win.

A massive game from OKeefe saw 30 touches, 2 goals and 12 tackles pick him up a game high 159SC. Kennedy was also good, 35 touches and a goal made 126SC.

The only other ton from the Swans was Hannebery, who had 29 touches and made a 103SC.

Over on the Hawthorn side, there were a lot of just-tons, but Burgoyne set himself well above the pack with 26 touches, 3 big goals and 128SC.

A fair few villians on Hawthorns side considering they won! A fair amount of spread a the top end, but further down, Mitchell just made 71SC, Roughead 64SC and Birchall a 55SC. Hope they didnt cost you a final, but its nice to see them bringing their cost for next year down a couple of bucks!

Either way you look at this game though, these are the two teams to beat for mine!

    Heroes: OKeefe, Kennedy, Burgoyne
    Villians: Goodes, Mitchell, Birchall, Roughead

    West Coast vs Collingwood

Result: West Coast by 49, 15.17.107 to 8.10.58

Well, Collingwood did eek out a few goals early, but from the start of the second quarter, to the end-ish of the third, 9 unanswered goals to the Eagles saw them cruise to the finish pretty damn comfortably.

Naitanui was great. 17 disposals, 30 hitouts and a 163SC saw him both top score the game, and lock himself into my squad for next year! Kerr did pretty well himself, with 36 disposals and 148SC.

Priddis 134SC, Butler 123SC and Shuey a 121SC were the other Eagles who cracked the ton.

Funny thing is, with such big tons around, there were plenty of Eagles who underperformed- not really to the level of villian though!

On the Pies side, Pendlebury was great. 30 touches and 155SC, Beams also picked up 30 touches but could only secure a 123SC

Once again, Cloke failed, picking up just 53SC and bringing his average below 80 for the year. This of course means that next year, Cloke is going to be priced for less than 80 points next year. Gunna be a tough choice!

Heroes: Naitanui, Kerr, Priddis, Butler, Shuey, Pendlebury, Beams
    Villians: Cloke

    North Melbourne vs Fremantle

    Result: Fremantle by 43, 20.12.132 to 12.7.79

A (near) guarenteed home final was on the line for the Roos, while a guarenteed finals appearance was their for the Dockers, and after an extremely close game for the vast majority of it- it was the Dockers who grabbed their guarentee- kicking 7 unanswered goals in the final quarter.

With Pavlich a late withdrawal, it was up to the other Docker stalwards to stand up, and Sandilands did the bidness, 15 touches, 49 hitouts and 154SC.

Though there were 7 other Dockers who cracked the ton with Mundy 129, Hill 129 and Pearce 126 all featuring prominantly.

Over on the Roos side, there was only one man who cracked the ton and that was Swallow. 30 touches and 113SC, from a fellow who was on 19 touches and 99DT at half time, this was a fair bit disappointing!

As expected, a couple of villians here. Gibson could only manage a 50SC (but yanno, first year and all so Ill let him off).

Who I wont let off however, is Petrie, who could only manage 8 touches and 32SC.

The biggest villian though, was Goldstein. Just 2 touches and 8 hitouts as he got absolutely monstered by Sandilands!

Heroes: Sandilands, Mundy, Hille, Pearce, Duffield
    Villians: Johnson, Petrie, Goldstein

Anyways, one more week to go before we put to be another big season.

Lot has gone down, but stick around- We still have the finals to come, the Brownlow, weve got those stats from the U18 championships sitting on my desk that Ive been meaning to get up- and all sorts of off season fun!

So yeah, lets open the floor. How have you gone, let us know!!
