I thought I better start a thread about 2012 Supercoach midfielders. Who do you think will be the best next season.

You could add Judd, Watson, NDS, Hodge, Mitchell, Mundy all into the mix. You could throw a blanket over more than a dozen of the mids.
Hard to go wrong when selecting mids really.

So you didn't pick Selwood last year, or Watson? Or Montagna?

There are plenty of traps in the midfield as well. Certainly when it looks like you need at least 2 churning 120avg

If Selwood takes the C it could have a positive affect on his scores, like Boyd this year.

Thinking Rocky might be in for a rocky season next year due to more attention paid to him, only saving grace is Black's still going around. I'm staying away me thinks.

Michael Barlow might be worth a look for next season.

Having a great selected midfield and having an alright selected midfield could be a difference interms of average of 50.

Being captain probably naturally helps give players points, because they will be awarded points for leading and motivating team.

    </blockquote>

Don't think that's how it works buddy.

The captaincy didn't seem to do much for Luke Hodge or N Roo's scoring last year! ;)

Captaincy can go either way, Brad Green didn't enjoy the extra pressure as have others in the past.

I will still pick Selwood whether he is captain or not as he fits my selection criteria; mid 20's, on the improve, proven scorer.

I doubt I will budge much from my starting midfield of Pendles, Murphy, Selwood. It's just picking that 4th premium or value pick that I will debate over, but it will most likely be GAJ.

The players I will be monitoring for upgrades will be Daisy, Griffin, Swan, Judd, NDS and Priddis. All of these players are capable of going on massive runs, except for Priddis who is just ultra consistent.

With Priddis you just pencil in 100-120 points each week!

...and that is why you should have him in your starting team. An ultra consistent 100-120 points per week should be the perfect reason to pick Priddis in your starting mids. I know I will be, barring any major hiccups over the summer, or a proper draw analysis that would see too many others be predicted to get more points.

    Bryce Gibbs

    Season Ave - 104
    Final 12 Rounds - 110.6

    In those final 12 weeks only 2 below 100 (72 & 84) and 7 scores above 115.

Reckon even without his DP im going to start him. Priced at only &#36;530K reckon he is set for massive year. Consider this, if he wasnt a M/D last year and he put up those numbers every man & his dog would be jumping on him for that breakout year....

Forgot to add that his average in first 10 rounds was only 94... So in back half of season increased average by whopping 16 points!!

    Any love for Scott Thompson?

I just started looking at him... and considering the Crows play PA, GWS & GC twice each, I think he's more than a good chance to repeat (or improve on) 2010.

    vs GC 136 & 162
    vs PA 120 & 70

That 70 near stuffs my point, but I doubt PA are capable of repeating that effort.

Wrong Suther - mark my words now, Port will be a better side in 2012 than they were last season!!!

Adelaide relies on only one key ruckman (with spud Tippett being their back-up) and they have lost 2 key defenders (Bock & Davis) over the past 2 pre-seasons, leaving much of the defensive experience falling on Rutten & Johncock's shoulders.

Port will be up for both showdowns this season and it would not be a surprise to see them go back to the past and sweep both games in 2012.

As for Thompson, I still think he's a better DT prospect than SC - gets plenty of the ball but his disposal can be quite inefficient, which is a SC disaster!!!

@stkildathunda What do you think caused the change in Gibbs average in the 2nd half of the year? Was he carrying an injury early? Or change of role?
