List will be updated to show any traded picks posted once the 48 hour period has passed.

Draft order will be as per below for the pre-season draft, the mid season draft for 2013 will also be reverse ladder order.

I have assumed we bottom out at 6 rounds but can go further if delistings indicate that's required.

Can I ask why we don't have a snake draft - rather just a straight one?

Was there a reason for this preference? Not that I mind either way, but more curious.

I didn't check with anyone tbh Chris, but I recalled a discussion that we had during the mid season draft where we talked about doing future drafts in this format rather than snake.

From memory the consensus view was that doing it snake style compromised the intent of having a draft order designed to assist in equalising teams, which it does.

I know it was decided that there would be no draft penalties for not entering teams but it sucks. At least 2 teams would of finished above me if they entered there teams.

X had stated that the snake was good to begin with as it was random order, but now that it is based on reverse ladder order, it is best to revert to standard format above. I agree with his logic fwiw.

@bama, has that actually been decided? I thought that it was said that there would be draft penalties for those that didn't field a side - unless their team was taken over by a new coach and then they wouldn't be penalised at all.
    Anyone know if that's right?

Yeah Ant I think thats right, but the main culprits were BL and X and by the looks of things at this stage there teams are the ones getting taken over.

I think there should be draft penalties this year for any one who didn't field a team and is still in the league. Teams can be entered at any time during the week not just Friday afternoons when you are pressed for time and i'm sure most people log onto a computer at least once a week at some stage.

Sorry Len. We are on reverse order snake draft for the pre-season draft and reverse ladder order for the mid-season draft. That is what applies under ORFFL rules and it is what we followed in both our initial and mid-season drafts. I recently posted the rules (again) in the main ORFFA thread. To change it would require the masses to vote. I will leave it up to you whether you want to chew up time with discussion/vote or revise your list to snake order. And if anyone has already traded based on this list order - naughty. Had I not been distracted by towels and commotions I might have got to this earlier.

The snake draft is not random. Selecting which teams go in which order for the initial draft was random.

Clearly stated under the franchise thread for those that enjoy light reading is that no further penalties would apply for draft dodgers or those not fielding teams, with an implied warning. The actual issue of what will apply in future will be discussed in the main ORFFA thread, or, as they say bama, the appropriate place.

I think we should just keep it to the order we have now, helps the teams that are lower on the ladder work its way up. Just my opinion anyway.

This feels wrong to me Tib, are you sure that Foul Bay's 2nd round draft pick should be 15 picks before mine?
At that rate the league has no hope of equalisation, and those at the bottom end of the ladder will lose interest fast.
To be even more adventurous, why threaten draft penalties for malcontents when penalising for one round only rewards for the next..

I feel strongly enough on this to want it to go to a vote.
For me this strikes at the very heart of the league

I agree with your view Len, snake order for this would be the farce you describe. For once I agree with the AFl and their draft order.

However, as the Commish noted perhaps we should sort out the bigger issues first and then get into the smaller, albeit important issues subsequently.

Some might note that that is a a fine bit of sitting on the fence! :)

FWIW, I think that it SHOULDN'T be snake order...and it is the biggest disadvantage to me.

But this is as it should be as I finished on top of the ladder. I shouldn't get two picks in the top 19.

If people want snake order I am happy to take it obviously, I just don't think it is fair to everyone else.

Excellent, we shall have new rules then, the order above is the logical order.

Unf we can't really wait chels as peeps are trading picks, you need to know what you are trading for.

And thanks Chief, I was very confident you would feel that way, I like you more each day, unlike that bloody Terry dude :p

Good call Len, and thanks again Chief.

There is a related issue on the ORFFA: End of year trading block thread I suggest you might want to stay abreast of (so to speak).

Good decision. Logical. I'm not sure that the ORFFL are contemplating carrying that rule over to season 2. NOT SURE, nothing more.

Geez ant. One decision is we must have a majority of votes, but on this issue we have 4 votes and it is a done deal? Seems (mildly) inconsistent to me. What if Simon comes on later and says he doesn't like this and starts throwing towels around the place? Or nukes even.

As a coach, I vote in favour of the Len proposal. There are no snakes in Ireland.

Hahaha, I was waiting for that ;)

But in all seriousness, they are completely different types of decisions. Nobody was being kicked out of a game they want to play here.

Just to make it clear, the ORFFL is NOT doing a snake order draft for the pre-2013 season. That would be silly.

Voting is voting, doesnt matter how serious the topic is or not Anth.
EVERY decision, every vote, is majority rules.

Len has asked for votes for the draft order, +1 for mine Lenh, I vote yes.
