Result: Hawthorn by 15
It was a tough night at the office for the Blues, with Hawthorn coming out of
the blocks and getting away to an early lead. They were able to claw that back
though, powering through the second quarter to carry momentum, and an 11 point
lead into the main change.
However, they also lost Marc Murphy to what turned out to be a broken jaw.
Still, they were vallant, keeping the game alive to the very end, where the
Hawks ran out 15 point winners.
Bryce Gibbs was very good, picking up 28 disposals for a 132SC, while #Judd|
C|CAR carried as hard as he could in his 250th game, with 29 touches and
128SC. Brock McLean was also promenent with 34 disposals and 122SC.
Jaryd CACHIA did a fine job, picking up 83SC off 22 touches, while #Rowe|S|
CAR did enough for his price with 9 touches and 6 hitouts for a 55SC.
Marc Murphy as mentioned early, was subbed out in the second with just 6
touches and 22SC. Makes for an easy trade out this week for any of his coaches
for mine.
On Hawthorns side, Lance Franklin popped up for a lazy 4 goals and 124SC,
while Sam Mitchell was ever the work horse, with 24 disposals and 114SC.
Grant Birchall might finally be cracking some form, picking up a 105SC off 23
disposals and looking a fine option for your backline (If you don't already
have him!)
Heroes: Bryce Gibbs, Chris Judd, Lance Franklin
Villains: Marc Murphy
Essendon vs Gold Coast
Result: Essendon by 43
In a moment of emotional hedging, I actually tipped the Suns in this game. They have been very strong of late, and have taken some very good sides to the sword. Seems like the perfect type of game that I'd expect the Bombers to drop! Seems I didn't need to worry, as the Bombers slowly put the Suns to the grind, before stepping on the throat in the final quarter.
Not to down play the Suns though, they were very good and did really cop it on the injury front.
Leading for the Bombers, as he so often does, was Jobe Watson with 31 disposals at an 81% efficiency rate was good for a 130SC. Brendon Goddard was hot on his heels, a 129SC coming from a career high 38 touches.
Stewart CRAMERI, Brent Stanton and Patrick Ryder all managed to ton up with scores of 116SC, 104SC and 101SC respectively.
Rookie, Joe Daniher has played himself into the perfect downgrade option in a few weeks time, his 17 touches, 3 goals, 98SC and all round good performance will see him make some decent coin, and should secure his place in the line up for a little longer- least until Bellchambers demands the spot back!
Over on the Suns side, Gary Ablett is an absolute freak. Had a very strong tag on him, from a player who is no scrub at tagging, yet still dominated with 36 disposals, 21 contested touches and 147SC. Had to work very hard for the night and was rewarded appropriately. Absolute gun.
Coming in at 116SC, is this years rising star medalist, Jaeger O'Meara who picked up 30 disposals at an 83% efficiency rate and 116SC. Meanwhile, rookie ruck option, Thomas NICHOLLS didn't let us down, though quieter than past weeks, still stood up for 8 touches, 2 goals and 19 hitouts for a fantastic 76SC.
Heroes: Jobe Watson, Brendon Goddard, Joe Daniher, Gary Ablett, Jaeger O'Meara, Thomas NICHOLLS

Richmond's lead got out to 50 late in the final quarter before the Crows dragged a little respectability back with two late goals. Dangerfield was best afield with his 28 touches and 2.4, and perhaps could have changed the game with a more accurate boot in front of goal. Delidio wreaked havoc across half back, left unchecked for the entire first half racking up 17 of his 28 disposals, as the Tiges got out to what proved an unassailable 33 point lead. Multiple goal kickers for Richmond were Dusty (4.2), JRoo (3.1), Ellis (2.2) and Grigg (2.1). For Adelaide, Danger had 2.4 & Jenkins 2.2.
