Sydney V Collingwood

The reigning premiers opened Indigenous Round as expected by smashing a very flat Magpie side. Adam Goodes played as you'd expect of a dual Chas winner on the big stage, gathering 30 disposals, kicking 3.2 for a massive 169 and three more votes. ROK (143) was all over the Pies with 14 tackles & 25 touches. Hitting the scoreboard were Daniel Hannebery (113), who kicked 2.1 with 31 touches, and Mike Pyke (100) with two straight. Scott Pendlebury (119, 28 touches, 5 tackles) and Luke Ball (101, 28 touches, 9 tackles) were the only two tons for the cold Pies. Brent Macaffer (79) is still mooing thanks to his new found role as the Pies #1 tagger, but a lot will have been hurt by it this week as JPK was tagged out of it with just 56. Super Sydney sub Jed LAMB is going to remain a rookie option for another few games, assuming he can shrug that vest. A green vest affected 8 didn't meet his BE of 30, and will see him drop next week to about $106K.

You know the result is a given when the home side coach is talking up an opposition star (#Naitanui|N|WCE) as the Main Attraction. Anyway, said Main Attraction played like a boss, Priddis rewarded those who got him cheap (which was probably everyone) and the usual Eagles did their thing. Callan Ward (79) kicked 2 goals, while Taylor Adams (84, 28 touches), Toby Greene (62, 25disp) & Adam Treloar (70, 25 disp) got heaps of the ball but poor disposal efficiency meant touches didn't translate to high SC scores for the Giants.
Heroes
NicNat (148, 2.0, 8 tackles), Luke Shuey (111, 1.0), Jack DARLING (125, 5.2, 7 tackles), Matt Priddis (110, 9 tackles), Dean Cox (108), Shannon Hurn (106), Josh J. Kennedy (121, 5.2), Daniel Kerr (117, 1.0), Mark HUTCHINGS (green vest 86), Stephen Gilham (94)
Villains
Darren Glass (57), Chad Cornes (red vest 25), unlucky Bradd Dalziell (concussion, red vest 17), Curtly Hampton (green vest 14)
Port Adelaide V Geelong

Another unsurprising result, with a few of the veteran Cats dominating on all fronts. Steve Johnson (151) was bloody everywhere with 33 touches, 9 tackles and a goal. Harry Taylor (134) dominated in defence with 10 marks and 29 disposals. Jimmy Bartel (131) had it 27 times with one goal, and the little man even got a hitout. Twin towers Tom Hawkins (105, 6.1) James PODSIADLY (89, 4.0) gave the Port defenders a hard time all day. For the Power, Travis Boak (101) had 28 touches and 6 tackles, Chad Wingard (93) had 26 touches, while Robbie Gray (106) continued his strong return from injury. The Hoff (98) saw in increase in output thanks to his back up ruck role to Jarrad Redden (87). The positives on the rookie front were Mark Blicavs (100), who keeps improving every week, Jackson Thurlow bursting his bubble with a low-ish 31, Jordan SCHRODER kicking 2.1 for his 60, and debutant George BURBURY kicking 1.1 with 5 tackles for 47.
Heroes

Cellar dweller thriller down at the Docklands going the way the Doggies. Dylan Addison (99) was very lively with 4 goals, Nathan Hrovat (86) was impressive on debut, but the story of the day was the massive scores by the mids. Matthew Boyd (155) led all comers with 38 touches and 7 tackles, Ryan Griffen (136) came next with 30 touches and 2 goals. For the Saints it was Joey and the man with no last name. Leigh Montagna (134) had the pill 27 times for 2.1, & Jack Steven (133) had it as many times for one straight. But possibly most impressive was a 22 year old playing his eighth game for the Dogs, after coming for the Eagles - Koby STEVENS (127) with 31 disposals for 3 goals. The few that gambled on him as a premium rookie (and have held him) will be happy that he doubled last week's 66. Big Will Minson (109) amassed a huge 46 hitouts & was the only other ton for the game. Third gamer Jimmy Webster burst his bubble with vest affected 24.
Heroes
Boyd, Griffen, Joey, Steven, Stevens, Minson, Hrovat Robert Murphy,(97), James Gwilt (95), Jackson Macrae (74). Coz we've all missed him, I'll also include Brett Goodes (86) (and he gave us one of the best falcons ever).
Villains
Lenny Hayes (red vest 55) is really the only player that didn't meet expectations. A few might be unhappy with Ben McEvoy for his 80, too.
Brisbane Lions V Carlton
Carlton by 13
Inaccurate kicking by the Blues (20 behinds against 13 by the Lions) made this one closer than it probably should have been. Mick welcomed Jarrad Waite (124) back to the side with open arms, and he was the forward target they really needed with 3.3 from his 12 marks. Six other tons for the Blues, with Mitch Robinson (122) impressive with 2.3 from 22 touches and Chris Judd (113) teasing with a goal and 26 disposals. For the Lions, Jed Adcock (111) had 18 touches and 5 tackles, while Pearce Hanley (102) had it 19 times and kicked a goal. On the Lions rookie front, Sam Docherty (69) started making moolah with 15 touches, Sam Michael played game two in the vest for just 30, while Brent Staker (98) impressed in his second game and makes an obvious downgrade target with decent JS. For the Blues, Jaryd CACHIA (87) will keep raking the cash in for a while for those that picked him.
Heroes
Waite, M Robinson, Judd, Adcock, Kane LUCAS (110), welcome back Bryce Gibbs (109), Marc Murphy, (105), Kade Simpson (103), Hanley, Cachia, Docherty
Villains
Andrew Walker (58), Jefferey Garlett (62), Dayne Zorko (61), Tom Rockliff (69), Joshua Bootsma (green vest 19), Simon WHITE (red vest 14, zero disposals, one tackle&hellip

Richmond vs Essendon
Essendon by 29.
Outside of a 10 minute period in the 2nd quarter, it was a pretty close game. Skills were high across the board, perhaps a little bit of a suspect gameplan from the Tigers, with their tempo footy failing to provide the returns that they were hoping for.
However, considering that the Bombers are the #1 team for scoring on the turnover, you can understand why they would be particularly loath to offer the opportunity. I must say though, it's quite the turn around for the Bombers, who just a few years ago were the #1 team to be scored against after a turnover!
Now, I mentioned 10 minutes above. It was the second quarter, Richmond had their noses infront before the Bombers put on 6 unanswered goals in quick succession, essentially creating the winning margin then and there.
Leading the way for the Bombers was '3 Votes' Jobe Watson who managed 28 disposals, a massive 18 contested kicked 3 goals and assisted another 3 for a mighty 166SC. On 39 disposals, was Brent Stanton who also made a goal and 132SC.
Michael HIBBERD has continued his big season, coming through an injury scare for 29 disposals and 114SC, matching David Zaharakis who kicked 2 goals and 18 touches.
Brendon Goddard had 34 disposals and a fairly decent 74# efficiency (Including a couple of completely magical, perfect touches), however, with only 3 of those contested, made just 104SC.
On Richmonds side, I'm gunna open with Brandon Ellis and his late withdrawal that cost me the weekly prize over on StadiumSport! I'm hearing it's a 2-3 weeker, so I'm shocked that they took so bloody long to announce it! Serious case of Not Happy Jan (TM) going on over here!
With the tempo footy going on, it was Richmonds backline who benefitted the most, with Alex Rance top scoring with 19 disposals and 127SC. Behind him was Chris Newman who picked up 27 touches and 123SC and Troy Chaplin on 22 touches and 117SC. Someone remind me to remember that little tidbit in the future, reckon it could be beneficial.
Nick Vlastuin continues his excellent form, picking up 22 disposals and 87SC.
On the negative side, Jack Riewoldt proved to be another scalp for Carlisle, picking up just 8 touches and 2 goals for a 46SC
Heroes: Jobe Watson, Brent Stanton, Michael HIBBERD, Alex Rance, Chris Newman, Nick Vlastuin
Villains: Brandon Ellis, Jack Riewoldt
Well, it's getting late so I'm going to leave it at that, but I have to wrap by saying -
- Jobe Watson (166), I love you;
- Gary Ablett (149), you too;
- Patrick Dangerfield (123), and you;
- Sam Jacobs (red vest 36), I hate you;
- <a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=2163&name=Sam Kerridge">Sam Kerridge[/url] (143, 6 goals), WOW;
- Michael BARLOW (138) and Nathan FYFE (128) are possibly flat track bullies, but are also guns;
- Lance Franklin (98) looks to have played himself back into form with 5.2 (after being horrible early & kicking three out of the full);
- And North Melbourne are now officially chokers.
