UPDATE: NEW RULES FOR 2013

Some major and some what controversial rule changes have been announced for 2013.

    1. Four Emergencies - This is up from 3 which means you will be able select an emergency on every line.

    2. New Team Structure: 6-8-2-6 - Yes you have seen correctly next year we will have to select six defenders, six forwards, two rucks and eight midfielders. This is possibly one biggest changes the game has seen and should be well received as it was getting pretty boring with all 375,000 coaches having the same midfield.

    3. PERMANENT ROLLING LOCKOUT! - This is going to be very controversial. What it means is your players arent locked in until their game starts. Instead of everyone being locked in at 7.40pm on Friday you will have until bounce of ball in every game to lock those guys in.

In reality it gives unfair advantages to those that have access to Internet 24/7 over weekend or have no life! IMO its has the potential to really ruin the game. How annoyed will you be if you have no access to internet, yet your opposition does and is able to switch the captaincy off say Gazza cos he was late withdrawal or sub couple players off!

The good thing about rolling lockout is that you will be able to take advantage of the captain loophole every single week!

    4. 30 Trades - Thats right you will have massive 30 trades next year! Is it just me or are they trying to get this game to become much easier! This is up from 24 this year, and lets be honest for most people this was enough. All I can see is that with 30 it gives you 6 more to burn for cash cows. If you dont have full list premiums and few premiums sitting on bench with 30 trades I think you might be doing something wrong! Or you know be incredibly unlucky!

    5. Free Draft Game - you can create a league with your mates and stage your own draft in which each player can be selected only once.

    6. Top 18 Over Bye Weeks - From rounds 11 to 13 of 2013, when six AFL teams will have a bye each week, SC/DT scoring will take into account only the top 18 players scores from a coachs squad.

So what are your thoughts on the new rules for 2013? Do you like the controversial rolling lockout?

Over the break we have well over 100+ position changes that have been confirmed.

There will be at least 14 Ruck/Forwards in 2013!

PLAYERS HAVING DELAYED STARTS TO PRESEASON

Nic Naitanui - We expect Nic to begin running early in the New Year and progress his recovery to be ready for the start of the season.” - Article

Dale Thomas and Tyson Goldsack - Article

Mathew Pavlich - At this stage we envisage that it will have little impact on Matthew's pre-season training and expect him to be right to play during the NAB Cup,” - Article

Sam Gilbert is only Saints player not to travel to Boulder. He is undertaking a modified training program after shoulder surgery & will be re-assessed when the team returns from Boulder as to when he returns to full training.

Daniel Markworth (St Kilda) is likely to miss entire season with suspected torn ACL that he suffered during preseason training over in Boulder.

Who is impressing at your club this preseason?

Essendon - Nick OBrien won Bombers Time Trial, followed by Stanton in the Bombers time trial. Patrick Ryder struggled.

Fremantle - Menegola (Rookie) won Freos 3km time trial. Mzungu came 2nd.

Richmond - Dustin Martin took out Tigers first time trial and Brandon Ellis took out their 2nd one, followed by Daniel Jackson and Matthew Arnot.

St Kilda - Jarryn Geary has won both 2km time trials so far this pre-season, and by quite a margin. He is one best runners at the club and a move into midfield could be on the cards. Ben McEvoy is also once again showing how good his endurance finishing up near lead. Nicolas Winmar finished last and found himself being delisted.

West Coast - Chris Masten and Bradd Dalziell won Eagles opening 2 time trials. But big story was Murray Newman who finished dead last and was beaten by John Worsfold! To make matters worse he was lapped by Dalziell in their 2nd time trial.

WILL UPDATE MORE CLUBS AS I CAN FIND OUT!
