Hawthorn Hawks 21.11.137 def Fremantle Dockers 11.13.79
Grand final rematch. Fremantle did not hide the fact they were planning to hold Hawthorn to less than 12 goals in this match, and they would have been surprised to see the Hawks notch up 6 majors within the first 15 or so minutes. Hawthorn went on with it and were 75 points up early in the last quarter and they were in scintillating form, also winning the disposal count 492 - 311.
Heroes: Sam Mitchell 114, Rioli 108, Suckling 102, Pavlich 97.
Villains: Walters 32.
Western Bulldogs 15.10.100 def Richmond Tigers 15.8.98
Great finish to this game, with the Dogs holding on by 2 points after leading by 37 at half time. Richmond stormed home, kicking 3 goals late in the 3rd quarter and even hitting the front, on a Jack Roo goal, with only a couple of minutes to go, but super-sub Giansiracusa responded with the game winning goal for the Dogs.
Heroes: Libba 154, Cotchin 125.
Villains: Ellis 56, Griffen 49.
Adelaide Crows 9.17.71 lost to Sydney Swans 21.8.134
This was a fairly close game for the first 3 quarters, but following a similar theme to the first two rounds, the Crows capitulated, not scoring a goal in the last quarter, whilst the Swans piled on 7. Buddy finally had his critics happy with him, kicking 4 goals and setting up a few too. Luke Parker also kicked 4 goals in a BoG display. Unfortunately Tom Mitchell was subbed out and we'll have to keep our eye on him during the week.
Heroes: Parker 131, Buddy 130, Jack 123, Jacobs 112, Jaensch 111, Wright 100.
Villains: TMitchell 55, Rohan 21.
Gold Coast Suns 17.12.114 def Brisbane Lions 9.7.61
An important game for the Suns to have won. They had the game under control for the most part, although Rocky tried his darnedest to stop them - two of his three goals coming in a five min burst midway through the third quarter which put the Lions just 8 points down, but the margin got out to 59 points before Brisbane kicked another. The son of God was at his absolute best with 38 possies, 10 tackles (both game highs!) and 3 goals as well!
Heroes: Ablett 182, Rockliffe 155, Hanley 119, Swallow 102.
Villains: Zorko 46.
West Coast Eagles 12.11.83 def StKilda Saints 8.10.58
Most people expected this to be a blowout win to the Eagles, but the Saints were in front for most of the first 3 quarters! West Coast got the job done though and are undefeated thus far. The big news of this game was Luke Dunstan, playing his 3rd game, he topped the DT (113) and SC (143) scores for the game, with 29 possies and 2 goals.
Heroes: Dunstan 143, Cox 122, Shuey 113, Ellis 93.
Villains: LeCras 20.
Collingwood Magpies 11.10.76 lost to Geelong Cats 12.15.87
Awesome game, played at a very high intensity. Collingwood have a pretty good recent record against the Cats, but they couldnt keep it going here. Led by Duckwood, the Cats were all over the Pies in the midfield and Tom Hawkins up forward kicked 4 goals, all at important times to get them over the line in a tight finish.
Heroes: Selwood 138, Sidebottom 131, Elliot 117, Beams 103, Fasolo 72.
Villains: Swan 70, Caddy 53, Cloke 29.
Greater Western Sydney Giants 10.19.79 def Melbourne Demons 7.5.47
Lots of skill errors in bad weather conditions contributed to only 3 goals being kicked in the first half. In large part due to GWS' poor conversion rate at goal, this game was very close most of the way, with only 1 pt separating them early in the last quarter. But GWS always seemed in control and ran out comfortable winners in the end. Mummy put up another awesome display in this game and is easily the form ruckman. I wonder if he can stay injury free. Also, take note of Josh Kelly's game! He's on the bubble
Heroes: Mumford 164, Kelly 107, Tyson 94.
Villains: Jay Kennedy-Harris 12.
North Melbourne Kangaroos 14.13.97 def Port Adelaide Power 13.12.90
Such a great game with the lead changing several times throughout including in the last quarter as well. Port looked to have control of it for the most part, but they couldnt shake the Roos and in the end Boomer Harvey again got them over the line for a great win. Its good to see the Roos win a close one after all their close losses last season.
Heroes: NDS 119, Boomer 114.
Villains: Wingard 70, Lobbe 64.
Essendon Bombers 21.12.138 def Carlton Blues 8.9.57
Sunday night footy... Copped a bit of criticism, but I liked it personally ... Huge win to the Bombers! It was 6 goals to zero at quarter time and they just kept pushing on, to record a big win. Once again the Bombers shared the ball around a lot, racking up 446 possessions for the game, to 317 for the Blues.
Heroes: Jax Merrett 130, Chappy 110, Hibberd 103.
Villains: Murphy 80, Buckley 34, Ambrose DNP
With some big scores to a lot of popular players, including perma cap, there will no doubt be some big scores going around supercoach this week.
How did you all go?
