Do we want to do this during the mid season byes? Get our sh!t together for this weekend, and have it as a best score by each player over the bye weeks (so Port and GC players will have a triple chance). Similar rule of a minimum of 2 players per ORFFU team must be selected in the 22 to represent their side. Yay? Nay? Ok coaches, start getting your teams together. There's a Thursday night game this week. Do we want to: A) select a new team each week, and have three rounds / matches? B) select a team and keep it, with each player scoring their best score during the byes? My preference is B. ....and... if a player is traded during the MS period, he will be considered a member of his original team (for option B), or his team at time of lockout (for option A).
Sorry, forgot to clarify, but for continuities sake, we'll keep the same structure as last year - so the same structure as a regular team: FB 3x HB 3x Mid 3x HF 3x FF 3x Ruc 3x Int 4x so best 22 (and no playing Pendles as a ruckman... realistic positions )
There's enough consensus for an option B, so that's what we'll do. Thursday night game tonight, so at worst all Port and Hawks players have to be named prior to the game starting. Full lockout will be tomorrow night (although it might just be easier to name a full team tonight).
The MAN team for the 2017 Mid-Season edition of Man v Nature, currently led by Man 1-0 FB: T Adams (BB), Z Williams (EW), D Roberton (NV) HB: R Laird (BBU), L Montagna (NV), Z Tuohy (BB) Mid: S Pendlebury (BBU), D Martin (CIS), L Neale (GG) HF: J Macrae (KIM), I Heeney (NV), T Greene (NV) FF: L Franklin (PAKP), S Higgins (BB), J Steele (GG) Ruc: S Mumford (CP), M Murphy (KIM), T Mitchell (NV) Int: G Ablett (PAKP), B Ebert (CP), D Heppell (CIS), N Jones (EW) Banchang 3 Blanchetown 2 Christmas Island 2 Coolgardie 2 Eden 2 Gisborne 2 King Island 2 Nuytsland 5 Pakenham 2 Yes, we have noticed a strong Nuytsland presence, but we'd be stupid not to select from the recently-crowned best team in the entire ORFF* Good luck to all our boys over the next three weeks, playing representative footy as it should be played. There were some tough calls on players who were left out, but team balance had to come first. Unlucky: N Newman (BB) D Beams (CIS) M Kreuzer (CIS) JP Kennedy (CP) O Wines (CP) S Martin (CP) T Lynch (EW) J Billings (GG) A Rance (KIM) E Betts (KIM) L Shuey (NV) K Simpson (PAKP) B Goddard (PAKP)
Team Wild Beast: Keeping our cards close to our chest or maybe not totally organised; it looks like we have Hodge & Dixon for tonight with the rest of the team to be locked tomorrow.
After round 11, its Team Nature with their noses infront (even though they went with ambiguity and picked a "McDonald" in the backline, without selecting which one!!!) Its currently: Man 1467 / 14 / 104.8 Nature 1729 / 16 / 108.1 (assuming Tom McDonald) There's been some ripper scores and some terrible scores from both teams. Team Man have D Martin (165), Z Williams (145), and B Ebert (141) leading the way, with R Laird (59), S Higgins (62), and Z Tuohy (76) leaving a lot to be desired. Team Nature have J Kelly (176), C Dixon (167), and J Selwood (151) leading the way, while J Gunston (27), M Hurley (77), and T Nankervis (83) should be taking a good hard look at themselves. Lets see how we look after round 12...
Sorry, didn't give a round 12 update. With round 13 now over, the 2017 Mid-Season Man v Nature is complete, and the run-away winners were the au-naturel boys. Man 2487 defeated by Nature 2617, by 130 points Both teams had 6 players fail to break the ton, with the entire full-forward line of the Man team being an absolute disgrace, while surprisingly it was the Nature midfield who let them down. Both named ruckmen were quite terrible, with S Mumford only managing 99 points for the Men, while T Nankervis was even worse, with only 83 points for the Nature. At the top end, Man had D Martin (165), G Ablett (146), and Z Williams (145) lead the way, while Nature had J Kelly (176), C Dixon (167), and J Selwood (151) have absolute blinders. Nature could have won by even more if they gave B Gibbs (208 in R13) a gurnsey, while Man could have clawed back some if D Beams (146 in R12) wasn't sitting in the stands. A Summary of the two teams is below Thanks to everyone who put in their time, effort, and consideration to make these teams come together. We'll do it all again come the end of the season...
Gentlemen, Lets have another crack at Man v Nature during ORFFU Grand Final week / AFL Round 23, as we did last season. Same coaches, same rules, and currently an even ledger! Man - 1 - 2016 Season End Nature - 1 - 2017 Mid Season Just to reiterate, because clearly I messed it up last time, teams consist of 22 players, as per a normal AFL side 3 x Full Back 3 x Half Back 3 x Midfield 3 x Half Forward 3 x Full Forward 3 x Followers 4 x Interchange With no out of position players (so yes, 1 actual ruckman and 5 actual midfielders over the mid / foll lines is expected). Interchange can be whoever you like! Get your teams together before lockout on Friday 25 August (next week)
