All Australian squad of 40 with 25 members who never previously been All Australian player. Pies and Cats have six players each with five Eagles. All Australian Squad in club order; Scott Thompson Eddie Betts, Chris Judd, Marc Murphy, Heath Scotland Travis Cloke, Leon Davis, Scott Pendlebury, Ben Reid, Dane Swan, Dale Thomas Nathan Fyfe, Luke McPharlin Corey Enright, Steve Johnson, James Kelly, Mathew Scarlett, Joel Selwood, Harry Taylor Gary Ablett Grant Birchall, Lance Franklin, Josh Gibson, Sam Mitchell Todd Goldstein, Drew Petrie, Andrew Swallow, Daniel Wells Brett Deledio Nick Dal Santo, Sam Fisher, Stephen Milne Adam Goodes Dean Cox, Andrew Embley, Darren Glass, Josh Kennedy, Matt Priddis Mathew Boyd, Robert Murphy
What no Port players in the squad, you must be kidding me? LOL I think Betts, McPharlin and Robert Murphy can count themselves very lucky to make the squad.
Final All Australian team of 22 for 2011 season to be named from this squad of 40 on Monday September 19.
no bombers? I think fletcher missing the 40 man squad was unlucky. Not saying he should be in the side, but deserved a nomination. In my humble opinion any way
Lol Essendon though, that has to be the story. Might have thought Crameri, his start to the year was great and not too many true HFF any more in the league. Fletcher, meh. Watson would have been there had not been for injury.
I don't think it makes a difference anyway (RE: Betts and Walker) cause Milney will get in ahead of Betts anyway or maybe he will be the Super Sub !!!! I don't think they do subs HudsonFysh, what's the point IMO?
As an essendon fan, very dissapointed not to see any in there. However, cant see anyone sneaking in... Watson would have been a lock minus injuries!
Not surprised there were no Don's in there to be honest. Think McPharlin and Bob Murphy were lucky inclusions.
Seriously though, Eddie Betts? I think he was just selected to make the culling process down to 22 a bit easier. Anybody else think Selwood is a tad lucky given the number of games he missed? I know he was brilliant on field, but 4 weeks suspended, plus the concussion and subsequent missing game. I was a little surprised to see him there.
Mundy unlucky to have been struck down with injury. Bob Murphy correct in best 40 but won't make best 25. Betts only had a handful of really good games, but not a good enough season overall to warrant inclusion in the squad. Rioli in 2012 similar to Betts when all considered, tore apart a couple of games, but rightly didn't make the top 40. Wells a bit lucky to be in the top 40?
My 22: B Gibson Glass Davis HB Fisher Reid Scotland C Ablett Mitchell Swan HF Johnson Franklin Fyfe F Goodes Cloke Milne R Cox Pendlebury Judd Int M Murphy Dal Santo Priddis Boyd Geelong supporter and I can only fit one in.
Good 22 Holey, but no way there will only be one ruckman in the final cut. One of the bench slots will be a 2nd ruckman for sure. Goldstein for mine, over one of those mids on the bench. But otherwise, can't fault your selection at all.
sort of agree Jason...although with the introduction of the sub, alot of teams went down the one ruckman path. This is also reflected in the fact that there is only 2 in the 40 man squad, compared to the usual 4. Priddis would be the one to make way if Goldy was to come in.
Scarlett over Gibson probably in terms of how the selectors have generally gone for experience. Swan HFF, Fyfe on the bench, Murphy on the wing, but that's deckchairs stuff. Rest is spot on. TAB should allow us to multi All Australian !
