cant see the blues improving much to get to 2nd, still have no good key forwards (walkers a small to mid sized, not key and waite... wasted talent) and their backline is looking iffy atm with injuries.

top 3 could be interchangeable for me and then bottom 4 of the 8 is the same situation

    hawks
    pies
    cats

    west coast

    saints
    sydney
    fremantle
    essendon

    Nth.Melbourne
    Fremantle

    Premiers: Hawks :D

Good thing about the 18 teams, top 8 now becomes more "selective". Wont see the full benefits until GCW and GWS ripen though. As for my top 8, the top 4 pick themselves, WC get 5th based on last season and the next 3 spots are the ones up for grabs. Other teams to compete for a spot in the 8 would be Essendon, Richmond, St.Kilda and even Bulldogs/Adelaide could challenge. No hope for the other 3 major teams, and the bookends will be obvious.

Coleman: Franklin, 2013 - Reid (heard it hear first :p )
Brownlow: Pendlebury (ALF are playing catchup, if Swan can win it retrospectively...)

    Loving this Hawks love.
Will be all shattered after Round 1.

I haven't quite assessed teams. I think Port will improve, North and Richmond should do better with a lovely soft draw, and Melbourne certainly should make the 8. Look at their run after the byes.

With none of you putting Melbourne in your top 8, maybe I should throw a punt on the Ds
North is the other side I think should make it, again not much faith from the masses on that score. They have 4 games vs GWS/GC, so there's 4 wins in the bank. I'd suggest 12-10 should do it, so they would need to be 8-10 from the rest of their matches. They have improved enough to suggest they will do that. Only one game against the top 3 from last year, and no double-up against Blues. Even Eagles they play twice so once away from Perth.

Not sure about Jeckyll/Hyde teams like Adelaide, Bulldogs, Essendon, St Kilda, Richmond. Only to say that changing a coach can go very right and it can also go wrong (if it's Peter Rohde).

Can't see a team from outside 2011 top 5 challenging for the flag, but at the moment I'd have these 5 teams all pretty well equal at the moment.

I think Collingwood are the favourites, deservedly so and really if they don't win it again this year it will be a colossal failure. :D I just put down Hawks because of the fan in me and I genuinely believe this is the best team we have had since '08. Really, we're only a kick away from a GF and just have to get the measure of at least 1 of the 2 bogey teams from last year. :D

    Hawks
    Geelong
    Collingwood (Premier)
    West Coast

    Carlton
    North Melbourne
    Sydney
    Eighth?(Fremantle, Richmond)

    Tenth?(St. Kilda, Essendon, Melbourne, Adelaide)

    Brownlow Medal:Buddy Franklin! or Pendlebury
    Coleman: Franklin

Coaches to get fired (None.. Though Hird, Voss and Ratten to all be under pressure from under performing teams but all will be saved because of their playing links at clubs, Ratten most likely to be sacked after being knocked straight out of the finals)

  19. Geelong
    Collingwood
    Carlton
    Hawthorn

    West Coast
    Sydney
    St Kilda
    Melbourne\orth Melbourne

    Richmond
The other Melbourne team from above

Premier: Any of the top 4
    Brownlow: Jobe Watson
    Coleman: Buddy

Realistically though I think if the teams can improve a little, maintain their form or bounce back from a bad year respectively then I'd say any teams outside the top five this year apart from GWS and GC are a chance of making the other three spots in the 8 this year. Even port could sneak in if last year really was the one-off shocker it seemed,
but it is still quite unlikely. They'd also need a massive logjam below fifth but could well get it
