A number of changes look to set AFLFantasy apart from SuperCoach this year, the two biggest are not rolling lockouts and a massive 44 trades.
That's 2 per week. Craziness!
I'm actually pretty interested in which game plays out better. 2 trades a week, on the surface, sounds ridiculous. But that is coming from the mindset of us, the players who are too serious.
'Everyone will have the same team'
'Just luck based'
'No skill'
Are all going to be thrown out over the next few weeks- but it makes me wonder. is it?
'Everyone will have the same team'
Yes. Everyone will have fully upgraded teams. But, everyone will still have two trades per week to maximise their squad for the upcoming week. So while yes, there are only a limited number of premiums in each line, I reckon you'll see a good mix of them float few with less punishment placed if you decide to go with a smokey.
'Just luck based'
Personally, I think that a system which has the guys who cops the least amount of injuries to premiums, as the most rewarded, to be supremely luck based.
Sure, you put a premium on consistent, un-injured players, but in the end, all that really does is play into point 1, and limit the already limited pool of players you can jump into.
'No skill'
I'm just gunna touch on this one, cause it's the topic of an article brewing inside my head. Fantasy sport skill isn't about knowledge anymore. We all know our stuff. We know in depth on how the game works, on how best to play and structure our team to maximise scores.
The biggest determining factor that separates top1000 teams from top10 teams is bench selection. Squeezing every single point out of your list. That's where we are at- and it's a tough gig to achieve consistently.
So. What are we thinking? Less emphasis placed on injuries. Is that a good thing? Or are SuperCoach going to absolutely romp it in?
