Lucas is tied up so I thought I'd give it a go...

On top this week is 'The Cheeky Boys'. They scored 2,531 last week, giving them 20,691 for the season at an average of 2,291 a week. If your total points has a 2 in front of it, read on, if not it might be time to focus on league wins.

    Here is their side:

B: Deledio, Adcock, Fisher, Goddard, Heppell, Enright, Suckling (L Thompson, Hibberd, Rhys O'Keeffe)
M: Pendlebury, Priddis, Watson, Cotchin, M Murphy, S Thompson (Liberatore, I Smith, Irons)
R: Cox, Sandilands (Z Smith, McCulloch)
F: Franklin, Pavlich, Harvey, R O'Keefe, N Riewoldt, Petrie, Tapscott (Krakouer, Matera, Callinan)

It's a very strong side in terms of the sheer number of premiums on field - they are probably only a Tapscott upgrade away from what some of us might end up with as our final teams.

They have managed to do this with some poor rookie selections - L O'Keeffe, I Smith, Irons, McCulloch and Callinan have barely played a game between them. They seem to have completely overlooked the use of the 3rd bench spot and gone for bargain basement rookies, and gotten away with it up until now.

They do have MPP links, but this does leave them exposed in terms of injury & bye coverage, and cows to slaughter for any further upgrades of midrangers like Heppell, Cotchin and Petrie. It's certainly a side you could go past as the year wears on, and your GnR upgrades deliver you top 7 premiums.

In terms of their selections, they have Sandi and Tapscott to deal with, have held Watson and don't have Swan. They have Petrie up forward without J Tippett, so I'm tipping a McCulloch > J Tippett move for the Sandi situation, and Tapscott > Lynch or a premium, depending on their cash situation. They have Krakouer and Matera on the bench to cover the Petrie swap and Tapscott abscence/replacement.

I can't see this side taking the prize, but it's quite a remarkable pre-round 10 assortment. Back yourself in to nail your trades through the year though and we might be reviewing your side down the track :D

Nice work Lucas er.. Griff I mean :)

Be interesting to know how many trades they've done as it appears the rookies could have been there from very early on??

Also interesting Suckling was named on the bench, with Birchell & Guerra taking the hbf's in the Hawks named side. Any reduced game time will annoy his owners. Looks like he has 3 missing down back this round & would be hoping Keeffe makes the final bench for pies.

I see this team also has Lids, God, Heppell & Hibberd all in back half & no mid MPP - but perhaps going to fix that with say Irons to Jacobs.

Thanks for showing us this team Griff

HeavyMen - sorry it's Rhys O'Keeffe from Carlton they have in defense. OP has been edited, sorry for the confusion. So there's no chance of coverage there from him, and this is where the leader will start to find trouble. Even the non-playing R4 tactic used in previous years has gone out the window with the byes, so I can't see their approach catching on.

Looks beatable in the respect that Heppel, Enright, Sandi, Watson, Tappy are out. And tough games for some of the players. They will not last long and be out from no1 next week.

Looks like they will have to spend 2 trades to keep it going.

    Great writeup griff.

Thanks for doing this, it's very interesting.

They've got a good team, but hard to know why they haven't utilised all positions... Surely it will cost them, and possibly will as soon as this week, with a few injuries around.

Even still, they are sitting in 1st place atm, which is obviously nothing to be sneezed at!

I have doubts this team will win overall
Burning trades I reckon a bit too much.

Also the pain will come later over the stretch from not having premium enough premiums if you know what I mean.

Thanks for doing this for the fans though Griff, much appreciated.
