Some unpredictable results have seen a variety of POD players emerge in time for the finals, but also some poor performances from SC stalwarts.

Great timing for many, if he can keep getting games, and especially for those with non-playing options on the bench. The ruck set-up at Collingwood is far from settled however, so it would be wise to wait until teams are announced before making the move.

So if you're a regular reader, or merely drop in from time to time as needed, let us know your thoughts on whether the Best Buys will be needed after this week.
DEFENSE
MID-PRICERS
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=377&name=Pearce Hanley">Pearce Hanley (BRI) DEF 480.2k 100
After burning a whole swathe of coaches with his hand injury, Hanley is now back on the ground and back to scoring solidly. Still in around 62,000 sides he doesn't offer amazing POD value, but certainly more now than he did before his injury.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=394&name=Robert Murphy">Robert Murphy (WBD) DEF 499.4k 99
Bob is really having a purple-patch late this season, pushing his seasons average up to 99 to go with his barely-under 500 grand price tag. Now in just over 6,000 teams Murphy is a great POD, and looking likely to end the season strongly.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=668&name=Hamish Hartlett">Hamish Hartlett (PTA) D/M 439.1k 91
Hartlett is another back again&rdquo; story, dominating early in the year to make himself a popular inclusion for many teams only to start spudding at a fairly serious rate and drop back out of a lot of sides. Now averaging 91 after a big game on the weekend, and solid recent form, he is priced fairly cheaply at under 440 grand and worth a look for the risk takers. Hartlett is now in around 60,000 sides.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=1072&name=Charlie DIXON">Charlie DIXON (GCS) DEF 423k 98
And the final back again&rdquo; defender for this week is Charlie Dixon. Similar to others already mentioned Dixon started well then dropped off through injury, but is now back on the park and looking in decent form. Averaging 98 and priced at just over 420 grand Dixon offers good value and is currently in under 10,000 teams.
PREMIUMS
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=749&name=Scott D. Thompson">Scott D. Thompson (NM) DEF 508.3k 100
Scotty T has kept on with his recent vein of good form, averaging 100 for the year and priced at just under 510 grand. The Roo's have looked like a solid team this year, thanks in large part to their run and spread, but haven't been able to close out the close games required for finals. Thompson has been a key factor in their rebound and defensive pressure and this shows in his scoring. Still in only around 25,000 teams Thompson is a decent POD and well worth a look for finals.

The only midfield rookie on the bubble this week is Mitch Grigg from Adelaide. Averaging 63 over his first two games, helped greatly by a 96 in his last, Grigg is looking at a 50 grand price rise and hopefully some more regular game-time. A risky pick, but at this stage of the year one that most coaches wouldn't be playing anyway.
MID-PRICERS
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=408&name=Ryan OKeefe">Ryan OKeefe (SYD) MID 539.5k 108
Picking the right Swan at the moment appears no easy task, with the main contenders all seeming great one week then poor the next while another Swan takes control. ROK is one of these, with some excellent games recently with the odd poor one thrown in. Averaging 108 for the season and priced well at 540 grand, O'Keefe is still in under 10,000 sides so far.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=871&name=Nathan FYFE">Nathan FYFE (FRE) MID 509.3k 107
Fyfe had a massive game on the weekend, bringing his seasons average up to 107 and his price-tag up to just under 510 grand. Likely to rise by another 30 grand this week it seems the perfect time to bring him in, and with Freo's excellent run home his 57,000 coaches will be expecting big things.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=413&name=Sam Mitchell">Sam Mitchell (HAW) MID 469.5k 105
SMitch hasn't quite lived up to previous years so far this season, but is still a star player and worth a look in SC. Now priced at a bargain basement 470 grand and averaging 105 for the year Mitchell offers excellent value and is currently in around 50,000 sides.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=481&name=Travis Boak">Travis Boak (PTA) MID 509.5k 105
Boak has continued on with his strong finish to the 2013 season, averaging 105 for the year and priced at a touch under 510 grand. A star of the future, and no slouch currently, Boak is in a surprising 10,000 teams and looking to drag Port into finals.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=85&name=Brett Deledio">Brett Deledio (RIC) MID 434k 103
Lids is back in the Best Buys after a relatively decent absence, averaging 103 for the year but now at a great price of just over 450 grand. The tussle between Lids and Cotch has been an interesting one this season, and one that will likely continue for a couple of seasons yet. In around 45,000 teams currently Lids is not a huge POD but can still offer some value there.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=2067&name=Chad Wingard">Chad Wingard (PTA) MID 514.9k 101
The Chad MkII is back in ripping form, pumping out a 150 on the weekend to bring his seasons average to 101 and his 3 game average to 130. A star of the future Wingard will probably be a popular pick next season and with under 25,000 selections so far makes a great finals smoky.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=731&name=Steele Sidebottom">Steele Sidebottom (COL) MID 516.3k 104
With all the attention focussed on Pendles, Swan, Beams and even Ball, Sidey has slipped under the radar a bit. Similar to the Swans midfield there seems to maybe be too many stars in there to allow for regular big games but out of all of them Sidey has been the most consistent recently. Averaging 126 over the last 3 games to go with his 104 for the year Sidey is still in under 10,000 sides and looking like a good POD.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=97&name=Callan Ward">Callan Ward (GWS) MID 489.2k 99
Another player many will be locking in for 2014, Cal Ward has been the dominant force for the Giants this season. While not getting as much attention as Gaz did last season with the Suns Ward has grown quickly as a player and is now averaging 99 for the year and 126 for his last 3. Priced at 490 grand and so far in only 3,000 teams Ward makes for an excellent POD.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=715&name=Jack Redden">Jack Redden (BRI) MID 509.5k 99
Redden is another young midfield star on the rise, averaging 99 for the season, playing in an often poor Lions squad but showing the SC world he's here to stay. Alongside Rich, Leuey, Rocky and Hanley the Lions will likely take a big step up next season, with Redden leading the charge. Priced at just under 510 grand and in only 3,000 teams Redden offers great POD value and is well worth considering for next season.
PREMIUMS
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=273&name=Kieren Jack">Kieren Jack (SYD) MID 574.4k 115
Jack has been the leader of the Swans midfield unit of late, averaging 115 for the season and facing a 25 grand price rise this week. Interestingly he's still in around 25,000 teams, which is not many for a top 10 player, but as mentioned before there is a risk of other Swans taking his points. Strong POD, and an excellent player all round.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=625&name=Dayne Beams">Dayne Beams (COL) MID 622.4k 113
Beams was a bit disappointing last week, after being named the Best Buy he put in a poorish performance, considering his form since return anyway, and is facing a small price drop of around 13 grand next game. His selection numbers have jumped up to 7,000 meaning he still has solid POD value, but now there is more doubt around his performances.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=806&name=Michael BARLOW">Michael BARLOW (FRE) MID 557.7k 113
Barlow continues to be one of the better looking midfielders to close out the year, averaging 113 and priced at just under 560 grand. A great run to the finals should see Freo players racking up some more big scores, with Barlow hopefully leading the charge. Still in under 40,000 teams Barlow also has decent POD value.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=486&name=Trent Cotchin">Trent Cotchin (RIC) MID 551.6k 111
Cotch is back in form of late, averaging 111 for the year but now 126 from his last 3 matches. Still battling it out with Lids for the best midfielder spot at Richmond, it's a battle that the Tigers will win no matter what. Now in nearly 90,000 teams Cotch isn't a POD, but could be a useful pick to negate the POD for others.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=281&name=Leigh Montagna">Leigh Montagna (StK) MID 555.4k 111
Montagna is keeping on with his stellar year for the Saints, easily leading their midfield and now averaging 111 for the season. An impressive 131 over his last 3 matches is even better still, and will have his 4,500 coaches smiling going into finals.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=1160&name=Tom LIBERATORE">Tom LIBERATORE (WBD) MID 553.9k 104
Libba looks to be ending the year strongly after a tough season for the Dogs, averaging 104 for the season but priced a bit high at over 550 grand. Still a clear POD in under 9,000 sides he is definitely a risk, but has shown he has the skills to back it up consistently.

The big man with even bigger wraps is now on the bubble at the Pies, and for coaches with 2 non-playing rucks on the bench it couldn't come at a better time. Averaging 73 in his first 2 games he has shown why the Pies rated him so highly, and he's set to rise by nearly 70 grand after his next match. Next season it will be interesting to see how both Grundy and Witts fit into the squad, but for now Grundy looks an excellent downgrade option.
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=1087&name=John CEGLAR">John CEGLAR (HAW) RUC 106.2k 47 +34k
Ceglar is the other rookie ruck on the bubble this week, averaging 47 in his first 2 he hasn't matched the standards of Grundy just yet, but probably has the advantage of not being some form of zombie supervillain either. Facing a 35 grand price rise after his next match Ceglar has been solid, but the Hawks seem to have a few more big-man options than the Pies at the moment making his job security less certain.
MID-PRICERS
<a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=167&name=Dean Cox">Dean Cox (WCE) R/F 455.9k 106
Coxy is back in the swing of things, returning to the number one ruck spot for the Eagles and taking full advantage. A big game from him saw his average rise to 106 and his price to 455 grand, meaning he's good value but unfortunately still in around 160,000 teams. If you're one of the few who hasn't got him yet, bring him in.

A very slim list of forwards this week is headed once again by Andrew Walker, who's having a break-out year at Carlton and still priced fairly respectably. Averaging 106 for the season for his 80,000 coaches Walks has had a great season and is currently priced under 500 grand. A great pick earlier in the season he just needs to improve his consistency to make it as an elite defender next year.

Boomer is once again in the Best Buys, as he continues to perform and keep his coaches happy. Averaging 109 in his shortened season and priced at just over 540 grand he offers good value and a bit of POD value with around 30,000 selections so far.
