It's been a tough year for many of us, trying to adjust to a raft of changes across the board, as well as all the usual issues of injuries, the General, and Heath Shaw. With the grand final upon us it's as important as ever to get your trade choices right, and the Best Buys is here for the last time to help you do so.

The weathers turning, the fish are starting to come back, and all my fantasy teams suck. But for those of you still on track for success, Adcock's the guy to look at. Playing the Cats at home is always a tough ask, but with the Lions season on the line and Hanley still under a cloud Adcock has the potential for a big game this week. I don't have any stats in particular to back this up, but with the last couple of Best Buys falling flat this ones all on me.

The work walesy does on this place year-in, year-out is nothing short of amazing, and what really makes this place what it is. Personally I think a carton of beer or similar is a pretty small price to pay for what we get.

    DEFENSE

    ROOKIES

    Kyle Hartigan (ADE) DEF 108.2k 64 +55k

Hartigan, if my memory serves me correctly, looked pretty good in the pre-season this year. He is now on the bubble for the Crows after his second game, and averaging 64 will most likely increase in price by around 50 grand. With the Crow still a chance for finals action, Hartigan certainly isn't the worst rookie option going around.

    MID-PRICERS

Corey Enright (GEE) DEF 477.1k 96

Enright has been in great form recently, helping out a decent amount of teams suffering from backline carnage. Averaging 96 for the season playing in the premiership fancy side and priced at under 480 grand he offers solid value and with around 30,000 selection has some reasonable POD credentials.

Heath Shaw (COL) DEF 407.8k 97

Heater hit a patch of poor form recently, but bounced back on the weekend with a 120+ score. Playing against the Roo's this week who are hoping to snag a finals berth, their run-and-spread game style should suit Shaw to a T. Averaging 97 for the season with typical Heater fluctuations, Shaw now sits in 90,000 sides making him a better option for the emergency loophole this week.

Harry Taylor (GEE) DEF 446.3k 94

Harry Taylor is another Cat defender to put in some solid games of late, averaging 94 for the year and consistently providing a presence down back. Priced at under 450 grand he offers some decent value for the last match of the year, and with just under 30,000 selections he has some POD value to boot.

Bachar Houli (RIC) DEF 435.4k 93

Bachar, apart from having the best first name in footy, is also developing into an excellent rebounding defender for the Tigers. Averaging 93 for the season and currently playing some quality footy his price is sitting at a decent 435 grand and playing a Dons side this week that's anyone's guess as to how they'll perform. With Grimes starting to get some game-time again it's also a bit of an unknown as to what role Houli will play next season, but for now he looks a great finals smoky with around 16,000 selections.

Jed Adcock (BRI) DEF 465.5k 91

Adcock proved why he's a former fantasy favourite over the weekend, knocking out a 123 and playing in the role his 11,000 coaches have been waiting for. Averaging 91 for the season he has had a bit of a down year, but still has massive potential and will be playing for a finals spot against the Cats this weekend.

    MIDFIELD

    ROOKIES

    Nicholas Graham (CAR) MID 109.5k 58 +47k

Nick Graham has had some decent wraps about him for some time now. The Blues have put a fair bit of faith in the kid, and he looks to now start paying that back. Averaging 58 in his first 2 games at the highest level he hasn't looked out of place in the Carlton side, but the side itself has often looked out of place playing AFL this season. Priced at 110 grand and a decent chance to play against the Power this week, Graham is a decent downgrade option.

    <a href="http://tooserious.net/Player.aspx?id=2120&name=Lauchlan Dalgleish">Lauchlan Dalgleish[/url] (ESS) MID 115.9k 67 +57k

Lachie Dalgleish is another young rookie to be playing good footy, albeit in a team that has been less consistent recently than the AFL. Many pundits are tipping a lacklustre effort from the Dons this week, with nothing official to play for, however my personal feeling is that the players will see this as a line-in-the-sand matchup and come out firing. Facing a 60 grand price-rise next is pretty much irrelevant at this stage.

    MID-PRICERS

Jack Steven (StK) MID 544.2k 108

Jack Steven is well on his way to becoming an elite midfielder, now averaging 108 for the year in a side that has really struggled for wins this season. Priced at a bit under 550 grand his price is around the mark, but with under 6,000 selections going into the final round he has some great POD value.

Jarrad McVeigh (SYD) MID 522.3k 107

McVeigh has had a great year this year, along with the majority of the Sydney midfield to be fair. It still seems to be a bit of a guessing game as to which Swans mids will fire in any given week, but McVeigh has probably been the more reliable out of the bunch to date this season. 8,500 selections to date make him a great POD, and a massive game on Friday night makes him an even better loophole contender.

Nathan FYFE (FRE) MID 519.6k 106

Fyfe is the pick of the Fremantle lads this week, after a solid game last outing and another lower-placed opponent coming up. Averaging 106 for the season and moving ever closer to that elusive elite&amp;rdquo; status his 520 grand price tag offers great value with plenty of potential for a big score. With 61,000 selections so far he isn't much of a POD, but playing against the Sainters this week his score should more than make up for it.

Steele Sidebottom (COL) MID 536.9k 105

Sidey is still behind the main Collingwood guns in Swan and Pendles, but for a 3rd of 4th string player he certainly does alright. Averaging 105 or the season and priced at under 540 grand Sidey offers good value, and hopefully a big POD score in the final round for his 10,000 coaches.

Tom LIBERATORE (WBD) MID 531.4k 104

Libba has repaid the Bulldog faithful this season, after a troubled off-season last year he has put his head down and really got to work playing some excellent footy. With Wallis now making a name for himself as a shut-down run-with player the duo should be exciting Bulldogs fans for many years to come. Priced at just over 530 grand and sitting in around 9,000 sides Libba has great POD value and a high score ceiling.

Travis Boak (PTA) MID 548.6k 107

Boaky has been great this year, really leading from the front for the Power and proving his potential when fit. A sneaky Brownlow chance according to many of the AFL journo's (not me however), Boak will be focussing on playing good footy heading into September. Averaging 107 for the season and 15 from his last 3 games Boak is still a solid POD with around 10,000 picks going into the final round.

    PREMIUMS

Leigh Montagna (StK) MID 569.1k 112

Monty has been on fire recently, averaging 121 for the last 3 games to improve his yearly average up to 112. Priced at just under 570 grand he is relatively expensive compared to the rest of the season, but is still offering great value, and in less than 5,000 teams is a great POD.

Rory Sloane (ADE) MID 578k 106

Sloane has been in ripping form since returning from a rather unusual eye injury. Averaging 132 from his last 3 games to bring his seasons average up to 106, the Crows are playing for their finals chances this week and Rory appears to be the best placed to lead the charge. With Danger playing a more defensive role, but still keeping the number one tag, Sloane could be in for a massive weekend for his 8,000 coaches.

    REGULARS

Scott Pendlebury (COL) MID 588.3k 127

Ryan Griffen (WBD) MID 536k 118

Joel Selwood (GEE) MID 651.7k 118

Dane Swan (COL) MID 591.9k 118

Patrick Dangerfield (ADE) MID 519.3k 112

Jobe Watson (ESS) MID 516.5k 112

    RUCK

    <strong style='font-size: 14.399999618530273px;]MID-PRICERS[/b]

Ivan Maric (RIC) RUC 494.9k 99

Maric appears to be hitting his straps at just the right time for the Tigers, playing some great footy and giving them the potential to cause an upset or two in September. Averaging 99 for the season on the back of some good recent form, the Tiges will be looking to send a message to the other finalists this week. Maric is still in around 30,000 sides currently.

Matthew Leuenberger (BRI) RUC 469.4k 99

Leuey was a bit disappointing early on in the year, but in the latter half of the season has returned to near his promising best to boost his seasons average up to 99. Priced well at just under 470 grand he is facing a tough assignment at the Cattery this week, but playing for the Lions finals hopes and against a relatively inexperienced ruck division. Sitting in just under 50,000 sides he is by no means a ruck POD, but with a Saturday arvo game he's a decent pick for the emergency loophole.

Zachary Clarke (FRE) RUC 482.2k 96

Clarke has been in great form lately, as usual coinciding with Sandi's injuries as per usual. With Sandi still in some doubt this week, and Clarke's 3 week average sitting on 123, he may again be a popular fill-in. Still in under 8,000 sides he has great POD value, but as always will need to outscore his opponents to make that actually worthwhile.

    PREMIUMS

Matthew Lobbe (PTA) RUC 511.8k 87

Lobbe is still in great from, averaging 128 from his last 3 games and standing out as one of Ports best performers. Potentially playing on either an elite tapman in Warnock this week, or an athletic around-the-ground type in Kreuzer, his opponent may have a big say in how he performs but either way he should be in for a good game. Port will probably have the advantage in this one, and I'd personally expect Lobbe to re-enforce this with a big game against the Blues.

    FORWARD

    ROOKIES

    Jacob GILLBEE (GCS) FWD 172.3k 37 +3k

Gillbee has struggled to get and maintain a spot in the young Suns side, and is now on the bubble for this year with an average of 37. Normally this would be enough to make me say avoid him, but as it's now or never in SC it really doesn't matter how he goes unless he somehow finds his way on field. Priced highly for a rookie, and for his averages, the fact that he's the only forward rookie will certainly be in his favour.

    MID-PRICERS

Nick Riewoldt (StK) FWD 485.1k 105

NRoo has had a stellar season, especially considering he's a key forward in a team that has really struggled for wins. Averaging 105 for the year but facing a stingy Freo defense this week, Roo may still have a solid outing but he'd have to be one of the riskier selections for the round. Priced well at under 490 grand he offers good value at the moment, and with around 30,000 selections still has some POD value going.

    Brent Harvey (NM) M/F 461.2k 103

Boomer has announced his decision to play on again next year, and will hopefully show why on the weekend. Like a few other teams now, the Roo's are playing for their finals hopes, and the Pies are no easy beats at the best of times. Sitting in around 31,000 sides going into the round Boomer isn't the POD he was earlier, but as a Carlton supporter I'll be banking on the Roos getting up this week and locking away their spot in September.

Mathew Stokes (GEE) FWD 454.1k 97

Stokesy has really come into his own this year, averaging 97 and providing some excellent dash through the midfield and HF for the Cats. Priced at a little over 450 grand he has good value in price, and sitting in under 20,000 sides has some good POD potential. The Cats will be looking to avenge a shock loss to the Lions earlier in the season, and I can see this match getting ugly if they don't decide to rest half their line-up.

Lance Franklin (HAW) FWD 439.7k 92

Buddy is back for the final Best Buys of the year, and is in for a massive game on Friday against the reigning premiers. Contract talks and poor form in general have really seemed to take it out of the Bud this season, but a good game last week and with finals approaching quickly now is the time to really make a stand. Priced at a great 440 grand but averaging only 92 for the season, Buddy is a great choice for the emergency loophole for his over 100,000 coaches.

So, that's all from me and Best Buys for 2013, I hope that it's been a good year for you all and thank you for joining us for it. I'll be doing a seasons review for the Best Buys in a week or two, and a preview of players for next year a week or two after that. For notifications on when the articles are up, or merely just to chat during the off-season, follow me on twitter @BlueBelieverTS.

I have my first proper day off in about 6 weeks today, it's a beautiful day, and the tides about to turn so I'm going to grab myself a few beers and see if I can get myself some of these flathead or coutta that have been around recently. Good luck for your finals!
