This week the Best Buys have been slightly delayed, but hopefully the extra wait will be worthwhile. With a real dearth of rookies over the last few rounds this week is no different, making trade selections all the more important. Now unfortunately while we can't give you a bunch of downgrade options, we can offer some POD alternatives that might just be able to save you enough cash to make those final upgrades for your team.
This weeks Best Buy is one of those options, in young Roo Levi Greenwood. After a slow start to the season Greenwood has really started to break out since the bye rounds, generating some interesting stats and apparently benefiting from NDS taking a fair bit of the attention off him. North's run home has also been well documented around these parts, which should give Levi plenty of chances to showcase his wares. Add to that he's only in around 1,000 teams so far, and you can see why he's Best Buy material.
DEFENSE
PREMIUMS
Heath Shaw (GWS) DEF 501.7k 95
Heater's been a regular in the Best Buys for a few years now, but generally speaking he's never on the list for too long. A chronic history of brain fades means while he often scores quite well he usually misses at least a few games each season. Back in form, after his last match anyway, Heater is looking decent value at 500 grand with a 95 average. Hopefully he can play the rest of the season, but his 24,000 coaches will most likely be holding their breath.
Lynden Dunn (MEL) DEF 558.4k 97
Dunn has kept his recent vein of rich form going, averaging 97 for the season but a much nicer 130 from his last 3 games. With a slightly down game over the weekend his price is only looking at around a 3 grand increase this week, so if he can keep his numbers over 100 he offers decent value. Priced just below 560 grand Dunn's high ceiling and POD value from only 3,000 selections are the key points here.
Shannon Hurn (WCE) DEF 500.7k 91
Hurn has also stepped up his game recently, averaging 91 for the year but 108 from his last 3 matches. When you add in his current price tag of just 500 grand, and 7,000 selections, he offers good value and is a decent POD, and the Eagles will be relying on him heavily for the remainder of the year.

MIDFIELD
ROOKIES
Ben Ross (HAW) MID 102.4k 23 +3k
Ross has flown under the radar, but is one of only 2 rookies on the bubble this week so gets the nod here. Priced well at just over 100 grand Ross is only averaging 23 from his first 2 games and facing a 3 grand price rise, but the fact is there are bugger all rookies around at the moment so he may get a few guernsey's if named again either way.
MID-PRICERS
David Mundy (FRE) MID 543k 104
David Mundy makes his back into the Best Buys this week, after featuring early on but not really living up to the pre-season expectations. Averaging 104 for the season to date with a price tag of 543 grand Mundy is a fairly consistent performer, and only in 6,000 sides, but with a 3 game average of 117 now looks to be getting back to his best. Mundy is a key to the Dockers midfield group, and Fyfe has been taking a lot of the tagging pressure recently opening things up a bit more for him.
Levi Greenwood (NTH) MID 530k 94
The Best Buy of the week, Greenwood has been a real surprise packet over the last 6 rounds. Averaging 94 for the season with a price tag of 530 grand doesn't seem like great value currently, but he did manage a 134 in his last outing and will be looking at a price rise of around 7 grand this week. For those worried about chasing points”, an interesting stat on Greenwood is he only topped 100 once in the opening 6 games, but has gone 100+ in each of the 6 games since then. On top of that, only around 1000 coaches have backed him in making him an ideal POD option.
Anthony Miles (RIC) MID 321.9k 105
Miles burst his not-quite-rookie” bubble last week, and brought in a fair wad of cash for the 17,000 coaches to take the punt on him. Averaging 105 from his 3 games this year and priced at 320 grand Miles looks ideal for bench cover over the remainder of the SC season. Facing a price rise of around 65 grand after his next game, the young Tiger could well make enough cash over last week and this one to make bringing him in worthwhile.
PREMIUMS
Tom Rockliff (BRI) MID 618.1k 123
Rocky is back in favour again this week, after returning a 70 odd score as my captain 2 weeks ago he belted out a 158 in his last match to try and make up for it. Now priced at just under 620 grand with an average of 123 for the year puts him among the best mids this season, but that consistency obviously remains an issue. With only around 28,000 picks so far Rocky is still one of the least picked players averaging 120 odd, but with a price drop of around 7 grand on the cards this week most could wait another week on him fairly safely.
Nathan Fyfe (FRE) MID 573.4k 117
Fyfe exploded in his last game, scoring 143 and bringing a near 20 grand price rise with it. Costing around 575 grand and averaging 117 for the year Fyfe is an SC gun and should stay an elite midfielder if he can stay on the park. Currently with 48,000 selections Fyfe appears one of the more popular late-season upgrades.
Callan Ward (GWS) MID 617k 116
Ward is again amongst the Best Buys action this week, even though on the face of it his value isn't that appealing. Priced at just under 620 grand with a 116 average for the year is over the odds, but with the Giants coming into some great form he could well still be worth it. A leader on the field and always among the Giants best Ward has only 15,000 selections to his name and offers decent POD value.
Joel Selwood (GEE) MID 554.3k 115
Duckwood has been up and down recently, more so than usual anyway, resulting in a current price of just over 550 grand for his average of 115 which is not too bad at all. The only problem really is that 93,000 coaches already have Ducky, so unless you're sold that he's going to drop off dramatically from here if you don't have him already now's the time to get him in.
Dion Prestia (GCS) MID 589.1k 113
Prestia had another great game on the weekend, while not quite matching Bennell's individual efforts his 137 was still by no means a poor score. Priced at just under 590 grand and averaging 113 for the season Prestia is slightly over-priced, but certainly not enough to put off his potential recruiters. Sitting in around 6,000 sides Prestia has good POD value, and a price rise of around 20 grand on the cards for this week.
Matt Priddis (WCE) MID 583.8k 110
Priddis stepped up again on the weekend, covering the loss of Selwood by pumping out a 131 of his own. Priced at 583 grand with an average of 110 Priddis hasn't set the world on fire this season but is always a solid contributor. Sitting in just 5,000 squads so far he is a good POD option, and always has the potential to go large.
Brendon Goddard (ESS) MID 562.6k 108
Goddard appears to be going alright without the skipper Watson in the side, even though he'll likely face more tagging attention because of it. Priced at 560 grand with an average of 108 is around the mark, and with only 17,000 picks to date he has decent POD credentials. As always the ASADA issues will remain around the Bombers, but if anyone can step up in these circumstances it's BJ.

RUCK
MID-PRICERS
Stefan Martin (BRI) R/F 315.9k 103
Martin was a very popular inclusion last week, bringing his selection numbers up to 50,000 to put him amongst the most popular ruckmen for the season. Priced at 315 grand now, after a healthy price rise, Martin is averaging 103 and looking at another price rise of almost 50 grand this week. The Lions run home will have a fair few coaches worried, but for a back-up RUC/FWD it really shouldn't make much of a difference.
Patrick Ryder (ESS) RUC 484.7k 97
Ryder is an interesting one this season, missing games and not getting much attention amongst the fantasy football community he's still managed an average of 97 for the year to date. Priced at 485 grand he offers decent value, again with the exception of the ASADA threat, and with only 8,000 picks has some good POD numbers. The Dons don't really seem to know what's going on at the moment, like the rest of the AFL really, but we can hope they'll keep performing nonetheless.
PREMIUMS
Shane Mumford (GWS) RUC 575.6k 124
Mummy has been excellent when he's played this year, smashing out a 152 on the weekend to bring his season's average up to a very nice 124. For 575 grand Mummy offers great value, and with around 30,000 picks is not really a POD but certainly has nowhere near the selection numbers of Sandi or even Martin.
Sam Jacobs (ADE) RUC 556.9k 109
Sauce has been one of the better performed ruckmen this year, averaging 109 and even pumping out a 147 in his last game. Sitting in around 30,000 teams Jacobs has bounced back well after a down year in 2013, and with his current price of 556 grand is almost spot on for value in his pricing. Facing a 20 grand price rise this week, and playing Port in the Derby, now could be the time to take the punt.
FORWARD
ROOKIES
Timothy Broomhead (COL) FWD 123.9k 24 -1k
Broomhead is the second rookie on the bubble this week, and the second one to have flown under the radar a bit. Collingwood have rated him internally for a while now, with some injury concerns keeping him off the park, so if he can keep getting games he could be one to watch. Averaging 24 from his opening 2 games and priced at 124 grand Broomhead is set to lose a grand after his next match, but game-time should be the key consideration here.
PREMIUMS
Brent Harvey (NM) M/F 618.3k 113
Boomer stood up again on the weekend, scoring 131 for the Roo's to bring his season's average to 113 to go with his near 620 grand price tag. This places him a fair bit over his current numbers, but with North's run home and Boomer topping the forwards leaderboard so far that shouldn't put many potential coaches off for long. Still sitting in only around 32,000 sides.
Dustin Martin (RIC) M/F 553.1k 103
Dusty continued on with his recent run of form on the weekend, pumping out a big 148 to bring his season's average up to 103. Already in around 100,000 teams Dusty has been well backed this season, and really just needs to play out some full games to be a lock for the remainder of the comp as well. Slightly over-priced on his current numbers, the simple fact he's been notching up 100's when only playing half a game should be enough reason to grab him.
Lance Franklin (SYD) FWD 506.2k 91
Buddy was a popular pick in the pre-season, before sucking pretty badly at his new club and driving many to trade him out. Now he appears to have hit his stride in the new colours, and a fair few coaches are looking to bring him back in. Priced at just over 500 grand with an average of 91 isn't amazing, but his 112 average over the last 3 games puts him right up there value-wise. Still with around 52,000 picks, if Buddy maintains his current output he'll easily be among the leading forwards over the remainder of the season.
