As the finals edge ever closer a lot of important decisions will be made over the coming weeks and will likely have a large part in determining league and overall winners. With not many new rookies coming in and a fair few premiums dropping off it's getting harder by the week to find good options, and that's what the Best Buys is for.

After missing the majority of the year with a re-occurring injury he has made his way back and burst his bubble with a price drop, making him not only a POD but a reasonably cheap one on potential as well. The price drop was mainly due to his opening score of 88, but the two 130+ scores since will certainly reverse his price drop fairly quickly.

    DEFENSE
    MID-PRICERS

Heath Shaw (COL) DEF 499.9k 103
Heater is back in the Best Buys again, and even though he's untrustworthy and a bit of a douche unfortunately he remains one of the better defenders. Priced at almost 500 grand on the dot and averaging 103 he always has the potential to go big, or go home with a brain-fade. Well backed so far with 85,000 selections.

Robert Murphy (WBD) DEF 485.2k 99
Bob Murphy continues on his recent run of good form, bringing his average for the year up to 99 and his price to 485 grand. Only 5,000 picks to date gives him great POD value, and the dogs run home isn't the hardest around.

Trent MCKENZIE (GCS) DEF 466.5k 97
The Cannon is still a Best Buy, and after another solid outing on the weekend is looking at a 13 grand price rise this week. Now in around 17,000 teams he almost doubled his selection tally last week and will likely be a popular trade-in this week as well.

Charlie DIXON (GCS) DEF 426.5k 98
Cheerable Charlie! Back playing again, but unfortunately for how long remains unknown, but IF (big if) he can stay on the park and resume the scoring levels of earlier this season he will be a solid pick. Interestingly he's still in around 7,000 teams even after his long lay-off, but still has solid POD value and a great run home to go with his cheapish price.

    Dyson HEPPELL (ESS) D/M 454.7k 96
Hep D has made it back into the Best Buys, but is facing a fair bit of competition with BJ and Hibberd also in a fair few squads to go with Hep's 100,000 picks. Priced at just over 450 grand and rocking a 96 average he is still good value but not a POD and probably won't be a hugely popular trade over the coming weeks.

Corey Enright (GEE) DEF 495.3k 95
Enright has continued his good form, now averaging 95 for the year and priced at just under 500 grand. Sitting on 25,000 selections he is gaining popularity as more premium defenders drop by the wayside, however the risk of The General visiting the Cattery always seems to increase around this time of year.

    Ricky Henderson (ADE) D/F 469.9k 85
Henderson has been on fire in recent weeks, still averaging a relatively poor 85 for the season but now with a much nicer average of 125 from his last 3 games. A perfect swing-man cover option when paired with Staker Hendo has around 10,000 selections currently but you can expect that to rise significantly over the following weeks if he can maintain his current output.

    MIDFIELD
    ROOKIES

    Alex Sexton (GCS) MID 174.8k 27 -10k
This season we seem to have had a pretty good run with the rookies, with the likes of Mitchell, Nicholls and Hrovat coming in at the right times to assist the majority of squads, however this all seems to be now coming to an end. A lack of recent rookie options is highlighted this week with only 3 rookies on the bubble and two of them not likely to reach their break-evens. Sexton is averaging 27 for his first 2 games and is priced at 175 grand. Pass.

    Harry Cunningham (SYD) MID 109.5k 11 -15k
See Sexton above. Cunningham is averaging 11 for his first 2 matches and is priced at 109.5k.

    Thomas CURREN (StK) MID 115.9k 36 +17k
Curren is the only rookie option this week likely to make any money, with his average of 36 meaning he's likely to increase by around 17 grand. Still not exactly Ablett-like numbers, but better than the others here.

    MID-PRICERS

Kieren Jack (SYD) MID 540.3k 113
Jack had a massive game on the weekend, boosting his average to 113 for the year and giving him a 27 grand price rise for next week. Still priced at under 550 grand he offers good value, and is still only in around 25,000 teams. The depth of the Swans midfield has been on show of late with Jack, McVeigh, ROK, JPK and Hannebery all taking turns to go large.

Leigh Montagna (StK) MID 525.1k 110
Joey has been excellent this season, in a poor Saints outfit he has consistently been one of the exceptions to the rule and is averaging 110 at a healthy price of 525 grand. Likely to rise by nearly 30 grand this week he looks like a great smoky for the finals in under 5,000 teams to date. Something to consider though is the Saints have a pretty tough run home, playing Sydney, Hawthorn and then Freo in the SC granny.

Trent Cotchin (RIC) MID 528.7k 109
Cotch is still there or thereabouts, averaging 109 for the year and priced at around 530 grand. A solid season from the young star so far, even if not quite at the level a lot were hoping, Cotch has cemented his place as one of the premium mids of the current generation. In around 85,000 teams so far he isn't a POD, but still a gun player.

Nathan FYFE (FRE) MID 484.6k 105
Fyfe is looking better all the time, as each game he goes uninjured passes he brings himself closer to lock contention for next year. Priced at 485 grand and averaging 105 for the season he is looking at a decent price rise of around 15 grand this week and is in 55,000 squads, meaning while not a POD he can still hopefully offer some advantages come finals.

Tom LIBERATORE (WBD) MID 545.5k 103
Libba has continued on with his break-out year, after a pre-season incident saw him cop a fair bit of flak he has really put his head down and let his footy do the talking. Averaging 103 for the Doggies and priced at just under 550 grand he seems a little over-priced currently due to his recent form but is still a great POD for cover with under 10,000 picks to date.

    PREMIUMS

Dayne Beams (COL) MID 635.1k 119
Beams has finally made his way back into the Collingwood side, after numerous setbacks with injury he burst his bubble last week but a poorish first match score of 88 has seen him drop around 20 grand in price. Poor for him, excellent for us though as he has backed it up with 2 scores of 130+ since and is looking like the perfect POD for finals. Already in 5,000 squads and looking very likely to make his way into a whole swag-load more, it isn't often you can bring in a 120 average player for finals and only have 2% of teams be able to negate them.

Joel Selwood (GEE) MID 601.3k 114
Ducky is getting close to regular status, having another big game on the weekend to bump his average up to 114 and his price to over 600 grand. This means he's still relatively cheap, and the 90,000 odd coaches with him mean the risk of concussion-affected losses is somewhat reduced.

Michael BARLOW (FRE) MID 567.4k 114
Barlow continues on with his great 2013, averaging 114 and priced at under 570 grand. A direct comparison with Ducky shows him averaging the same, with almost 60,000 less selections and priced 30 grand cheaper. Still not convinced? The Dockers run home is Carlton, GWS, Melbourne, Port and then The Saints in the SC granny.

Jack Steven (StK) MID 574.9k 108
Steven is again in the Best Buys, racking up the numbers this year and averaging a very healthy 108 in a mainly losing team. As a young player on the rise he is certainly worth keeping an eye on for next year but also could provide some nice POD value this season. Priced a touch on the high side due to recent form he still offers good value and is only in around 5,000 squads.

    Ryan O'Keefe (SYD) MID 553.2k 109
ROK, like the other Swans midfielders, seems to be taking turns to go large and show why he's been an SC premium for a few seasons now. Averaging 109 for the year and priced at a solid 550 grand he is one of the less popular Sydney mids and one of the most likely to stand up for them during finals. Still a gun, and in just under 10,000 teams.

    REGULARS

Gary Ablett (GCS) MID 668.1k 137
Ryan Griffen (WBD) MID 577k 122
Dane Swan (COL) MID 595.6k 119

    RUCK
    PREMIUMS

Matthew Kreuzer (CAR) RUC 566.7k 102
The ruck stocks are really looking thin at the moment, with only regulars Goldy and Wilbur making the cut with Big Kreuz. Priced at 566 grand and averaging 102 his recent form has been excellent and he's looking at a near 20 grand price rise next week. Freo at Etihad will be an interesting test for the big man this weekend, but his 25,000 odd coaches will be backing him in.

    REGULARS

Todd Goldstein (NM) RUC 536.5k 114
Will Minson (WBD) RUC 531.3k 112

    FORWARD
    MID-PRICERS

    Andrew Walker (CAR) M/F 497.8k 108
Walks continues to impress this season, I'm not sure he's a revelation as a defender” though since that's where he started his career, but don't let that stop you. Priced at just under 500 grand and averaging 108 he offers great value and has a good scoring ceiling. Almost 80,000 selections so far show that Walks isn't a POD anymore, but he's still easily in the group of leading forwards.

Travis Cloke (COL) FWD 451.4k 97
Cloke is still thereabouts, averaging 97 for his cheap price of 450 grand but not yet firing on all cylinders. Bucks has seemingly had enough of his inconsistency as well, taking a couple of pot-shots at him in recent post-game interviews, which may end up a positive or a negative. If he reacts well and pulls his finger out he will be a great pick at this price, but if he sulks and spuds even worse a lot of coaches will likely add him to the never again” list. Even with his obvious issues, Clokey has managed nearly 50,000 selections to date.

    Jordan Lewis (HAW) M/F 482.8k 96
Lewis looks to be building towards his 2012 form as we approach finals, and really it couldn't be at a much better time. Averaging 96 for the season and priced at a good 480 grand he offers decent value on numbers, but even better value as a POD in under 20,000 sides. Hasn't had his best season, but still a great player and worth a sneaky look.

    Cyril Rioli (HAW) M/F 426.1k 94
Three Hawks round out the mid-priced forwards this week, with Cyril being the big risk among them. A star when on his game injuries have severely affected his 2013 season but he has still managed a respectable 94 average. Facing a 12 grand price rise this week and still in under 15,000 sides he's a big risk, but one that could easily pay off.

Lance Franklin (HAW) FWD 465.9k 93
Buddy has again made it back to the Best Buys, after his traditional mauling of the Dons brought his average up to 93 for the season. Hopefully, as has happened before, this can kick-start his form for the remainder of the season and show the 120,000 coaches with him in their side why they picked him. With those kind of numbers he probably shouldn't be traded in to finish your side, but for those with a spare trade or two he'll make an excellent cover option and help to negate opposition POD's.

    PREMIUMS

    Steve Johnson (GEE) M/F 592.7k 120
Stevie J would be a regular, if only he didn't keep getting suspended all the time. He's back again and his 120 on the weekend showed why he's in around 80,000 teams so far, but for those with an interest it would certainly be safer to make sure you have decent cover before bringing him in.

    Brent Harvey (NM) M/F 525.5k 107
Boomer has been great this year, well, this second half of the year anyways after missing a large chunk early on through suspension. Not sure how a player who gets that many weeks can complain about being pinched, but I digress. Averaging 107 for the year and priced at 525 grand he is facing a probable price rise of around 12 grand this week and his M/F status makes him excellent bench cover.

    REGULARS

    Dustin MARTIN (RIC) M/F 497.6k 104
    Tom Rockliff (BRI) M/F 523.9k 102

    WAITING LIST
