Welcome once again to a new edition of the TooSerious Best Buys.

This week saw some massive scores, some shockers, and a fair few upsets, making it all the harder to sort the wheat from the SC chaff.
Incredibly there are no rookies on the bubble this week. None. Either that or my sorting abilities should come into question. So instead we've thrown in 2 players who are either on the bubble or rookie priced, and a whole swag of upgrade options to try and accommodate this weeks trading needs.

The Best Buy for the week, is Tex Walker. A massive game on the weekend saw Tex fly into contention for a lot of sides, and with his heavily discounted pricing should see him as one of the most popular trade-ins for the round. The Crows look a much better unit with Tex in the side, and even though the Suns back-line isn't exactly the best in the comp, the rest of their team certainly make up for it and are by no means 'easy-beats' any more. Along with Tex are a few other fallen premium type KPF's this week, all at a great price, but all risky choices as well.

    DEFENSE
    ROOKIES

    Angus Litherland (HAW) DEF 165.7k 48 +46k

Litherland earned himself a reprieve on the weekend, and then followed up by pumping out a 115 for the coaches that backed him in. No longer on the bubble but suddenly a lot more appealing, Litherland is still priced at 165 grand and is facing a 46 grand price rise after his next game. Obviously his Job Security is a bit suspect, but his last outing certainly can't have done his chances much harm.

    MID-PRICERS

Matthew Jaensch (ADE) DEF 417.3k 94

Jaensch appears to be back in form after a recent minor injury, belting out a 128 in his last match to bring his season's average to 94. Priced cheaply at around 420 grand and currently sitting in around 32,000 sides Jaensch is no longer much of a POD but has shown the potential to still be worthwhile.

Shannon Hurn (WCE) DEF 448.8k 83
Hurn has been mentioned in the comments for a couple of weeks now, so is in this week's Best Buys by popular demand. Priced at just under 450 grand and averaging 100 from his last 3 games the defender has long been known for his great SC:DT ratio, and his 5,000 coaches will be banking on his season's average of 83 continuing to rise.

    PREMIUMS

Kade Simpson (CAR) DEF 594.2k 109

Simpson is again in the Best Buys, as one of the form defenders in the comp, but mention must be made that on current numbers he's not really very good value. Priced just under 600 grand and averaging 109 he is nearly 50 grand over his current value, but also averaging 133 from his last 3 matches. If Simmo can keep this level of scoring going for the rest of the year he'll be a great pick, but otherwise he's too pricey for most barring his current 29,000 selections.

Nick Malceski (SYD) DEF 512.1k 101
Malceski is one of a few Swans to suddenly hit a purple patch, with his improved recent form producing an average of 108 over his last 3 games and lifting his season's average to 101 so far. Sitting in around 9,000 teams he still has good POD value, and is priced pretty close to his numbers at the moment. The Swans are now looking like real contenders again after a slow start, and Malceski looks right at home racking up the stats off halfback.

    REGULARS

    David Swallow (GCS) D/M 517.8k 110

    Jimmy Bartel (GEE) D/M 548.2k 106

    MIDFIELD
    ROOKIES

    Clay Beams (BRI) MID 183.4k 57 +27k

Beams has been promising for a fairly long time now, without ever consistently delivering. Obviously not a rookie on the bubble he is however priced at around 180 grand and about to play his 3rd game of the season, so for many coaches will be close enough. Averaging 57 from his first 2 games and facing a near 30 grand price rise, Beams' main attraction will likely be his JS if he can remain uninjured for a decent period.

    MID-PRICERS

Dion Prestia (GCS) MID 534.7k 109
Prestia has been in and out of the Best Buys this year, and with an average of 119 from his last 3 games it's easy to see why he's currently in. Also averaging 109 for the season in a stellar effort from the young gun, Prestia is priced at around 535 grand and has only 4,000 picks to date. A big POD, and one with plenty of potential as the Suns have shown this season, Prestia should be a popular pick next year and is well worth considering now.

Brendon Goddard (ESS) MID 532.7k 104

BJ is another popular pick from the comments section, and his numbers over the last while show why. Averaging 104 for the year, 124 from his last 3 games and 121 from his last 5, Goddard is in great form and still a bit of a POD with only 14,000 picks. Consistency is always an issue when looking for POD players, but of the current POD bunch BJ is generally the most reliable.

Levi Greenwood (NM) MID 484.3k 87

Greenwood may just be breaking out at the moment. Averaging 87 for the season so far but 121 from his last 3 games the 485 grand midfielder is certainly a smoky, and only sitting in around 1,000 sides. The return (and return to form) of Swallow may well be a factor for Greenwood at the moment, but on current numbers alone he at least deserves a mention here.

    PREMIUMS

Tom Rockliff (BRI) MID 628.1k 127

Rocky, when playing, is having a ridiculous season in SC so far this year. His missed games have kept his selection numbers down to below 20,000 to date, and a massive 182 last game may have some thinking he's too pricey now at 630 grand to jump on, but there are some other stats for him that need to at least be considered. Averaging 127 for the season, 149 in the last 3 games (including the 182), leading the league in average tackles per games and coming 4th overall for average possessions, all while playing a more run-with” role that has resulted in less hard tags. Still not convinced? After his next game his price will likely top 650 grand. Don't rule him out just yet.

    Josh P Kennedy (SYD) MID 657.6k 123

JPK is the surprise leader for average possessions per game this season, after a slow start and many overlooking him for the younger emerging Swans stars. Now averaging 123 for the year however, he's starting to gain some serious attention. Priced highly for his overall average JPK has only 16,000 picks to his name so far, but with a 3 game average of 139 that looks likely to change pretty quickly.

Jobe Watson (ESS) MID 583.3k 114

Jobe is bouncing back to the form most were expecting of him this year, averaging 134 over the last 3 matches to bring his seasons average back up to the 114 mark. Priced only slightly overs at 580 grand and sitting in 64,000 sides Jobe has a lot to offer, but will need to keep his current average going to make him a truly worthwhile pick now.

Matt Priddis (WCE) MID 565.2k 108

Priddis is another player to hit a rich vein of form as of late, scoring a 132 in his last game to bring his 3 match average to exactly that. With only 4,000 picks he offers good POD value, and with his season's average of 108 and reasonable pricing of around 565 grand Priddis should be a fairly popular pick in the coming weeks. Consistency has been a strength for Priddis, and one his coaches will be banking on coming towards the final stretch.

Callan Ward (GWS) MID 573.5k 113

Ward is another player to be in and out of the Best Buys, with consistency being an issue but still pumping out a good score every other game. Now averaging 113 for the year and 121 from his last 3 games the Giants captain leads by example, and is heavily relied on through the GWS midfield. Priced relatively well and sitting in around 10,000 sides Ward is a solid POD option.

Marc Murphy (CAR) MID 555.5k 113
SMurph had a big one on the weekend, racking up 156 but not managing to drag the Blues across the line. Priced at 555 grand and averaging 113 for the season SMurph offers solid value for his 38,000 sides, but isn't looking like averaging 120+ unfortunately. The Blues will need some sort of miracle to get their act together and play finals this season, but with Judd on the return path and Smurph smashing out 150's, stranger things have happened. Maybe.

Dayne Beams (COL) MID 587.4k 121

    RUCK
    MID-PRICERS

Robert Warnock (CAR) RUC 455.3k 92

In a poor week for rucks we're going a bit outside the box and looking at Robbie Warnock. Averaging 92 for the season and scoring a healthy 121 in his last outing the Blues big man has revelled in the number one ruck role, but still can't kick to save himself. Priced well at around 455 grand Warnock is one of the better tapmen going around, and with only 1,000 picks is a great POD, but will need to keep scoring at least 110's to be a decent pick up from here.

Nic Naitanui (WCE) RUC 388.2k 74
Nic Nat may finally be back in form, after scoring 113 in his last game and starting to look like the Nic Nat we all remember. Surprisingly sitting in around 17,000 sides, especially considering his season's average was bumped up to 74 on the weekend, Naitanui's price of 388 grand will be his main selling point. On this year's form a massive risk, but on most other seasons' form a massive bargain.

    REGULARS

Aaron Sandilands (FRE) RUC 550.3k 115

    FORWARD
    MID-PRICERS

    Craig Bird (SYD) M/F 483.7k 91

Bird is, possibly the word, but also, one of the other Swans hitting a rare vein of form lately. Belting out a 137 in his last game has brought his season's average to 91, but much more impressively his 3 match average to 121. With under 3,000 selections and a 28 grand price rise on the way, Bird has excellent POD value, a decent price of 483 grand a high ceiling as recently demonstrated.

Taylor Walker (ADE) FWD 334k 86

The Best Buy for the week, and saviour of my SC side last week, is Tex Walker. After a long lay-off with injury the big forward started slowly in his first 2 games but looked to finding the ball well, albeit while lacking in skills somewhat. That all changed on the weekend as big Tex went to town against the Suns, scoring a 146 and 5 goals along the way. Walker remains very much an injury issue, but for a price of 335 grand he's a risk that many can afford to take. Now in 21,000 teams and facing a near 40 grand price rise, this is the week to jump on.

Lance Franklin (SYD) FWD 443.4k 84

Making up the middle of our trio of out-of-form KPF's this week is Buddy, averaging 84 and costing 443 grand. While those numbers aren't especially impressive, his 3 game average of 110 shows a bit more potential, and gives an indicator of what can be expected when Buddy and Tippett can line up alongside each other. Still in 38,000 sides Buddy is a popular pick for a bloke averaging in the 80's, but looks to be finding his touch and could well work his way back into a fair few more sides yet.

Travis Cloke (COL) FWD 366.8k 67
The last of our big forwards, is Travis Cloke. Averaging a shocking 67 for the season to date and in around 12,000 sides Cloke has been the bane of many SCer's so far this year, but might just be turning that all around. Belting out a 164 in his last game and earning him a reprieve for many SC sides, his 366 grand price tag will be too hard for some to ignore, they'll just have to hope the 164 is a sign of things to come.

    PREMIUMS

    Robbie Gray (PTA) M/F 559.7k 108
Gray is again in the Best Buys this week, even though he looks likely to lose 5 grand in value after his next game. Don't let that stop you however, as his 108 average for the season's pretty impressive, but combined with the 114 he's averaging from his last 3 matches it really shows the potential on offer here. Currently in around 28,000 sides Gray is increasing his numbers every week, and at 560 grand offers pretty solid value to boot.
