Boffins at Champion Data have made a team of champions based on a range of criteria. I have put my own team down based on those who have not been selected in theirs. I reckon my team would win and considering I give up some real stars of the comp, that's some real decent effort: Here's the full team: B: Troy Chaplin, Josh Gibson, Dale Morris HB: Sam Mitchell, Ben Reid, Heath Shaw C: Matthew Boyd, Chris Judd, Ryan Griffen HF: Joel Selwood, Travis Cloke, Jordan Lewis FF: Todd Banfield, Lance Franklin, Eddie Betts Foll: Shane Mumford, Gary Ablett, Brent Moloney Inter: Todd Goldstein, Scott Selwood, Marc Murphy Sub: Dane Swan B: Scarlett, Tarrant, Scotland HB: Suckling, Fisher, Deledio C: Thomas, Watson, Pendlebury HF: Johnson, J Riewoldt, Chapman F: Milne, Hall, Walker R: Cox, Priddis, Dal Santo INT: Chapman, Petrie, Goodes SUB: Davis
Would love to make a supercoach comp based on players positions. E.g. Full back gets X 10 for spoils, half as much for possessions, heaps for inside 50s etc. Then players could be used in any position, but their stats need to be weighed up against these.
Interesting concept Lucas, it would take a very broad knowledge of the game and of statistics to be successful in such a competition. Very challenging indeed. On your team, pretty solid other than the fact that you have chappy in their twice. I'd put fyfe in his bench spot on this years efforts. I thought it was a pretty interesting idea by CD going with the #1 in each different stat area, but there is no way you can look at it to make Maloney a better pick than Pendles. Also don't think you can play selwood on a HFF as I don't feel he is damaging enough in front of goals, despite his high inside 50 count. Still interesting to see the #1 in each area...wouldn't have picked gibson for most spoils.
I read that article in today's Hun too. I was hoping to see who had the most running bounces selected on a wing, but alas it wasn't to be. Running bounces clearly less interesting than "ground ball gets". Something is wrong here.
Yeah just a slip of the keyboard. Within minutes I'd named more than a few replacements though (Fyfe, Pav, Rioli - any or all will do)
