Griffen v. Greater Western Sydney
Rd 5 2012: 155 SC points, 37 disposals
Note: Managed to have a huge game last year despite being tagged by McDonald. He is in career best form at the moment coming off scores of 148, 143, 129, 176, 136, 101 and 171 (average of 143 from seven games). (Matthew Boyd also played well in this game last year with 133 SC points from 35 disposals (tagged by Greene) whilst Minson managed 17 touches and 30 hitouts on his way to 132 SC points).

Note: Five scores over 140 against Brisbane. A poor 75 in Round 7 2011 when he received a slight injury to his knee but kept on playing. He had been tagged by Raines in the past four games but still managed to average 131 SC points in those games. A disappointing 115 last week which had followed scores of 147, 153, 129 and 149 in the weeks prior (average of 139).

Notes: Slightly inconsistent record against the Hawks with a big 185 SC points back in 2009 but a low score of 71 in the same year. He was pivotal in the third quarter of the game in Round 1 this year which helped Geelong win the game. He is normally tagged by Lewis or Sewell. Tagged out of the game by Crowley last week and only scored 54 SC points from 13 touches. Prior to that he had scored 135 and 137 which had followed three scores below 100 in the weeks prior.

Note: Solid record with only three scores below 100. Most recently tagged by Carrazzo but not as effectively as the game in Round 3 2012 - where Carrazzo dominated him and picked up 29 touches of his own, limiting him to 62 SC points which was his lowest score for the season. One of the few who stood up in last week's loss against Port Adelaide with a score of 112 which had followed scores of 145 and 132 in the weeks prior (average of 130).

Disappointing last week with only 73 against Port Adelaide which had followed scores prior to the bye of 149, 148 and 131 (average of 125).

Note: Tagged by Scott Selwood in the matchup last season. He is in great form at the moment with scores of 141, 150, 97, 125 and 123 (average of 127).
My opinion: Ablett's Suns lost by 2 points to Brisbane in their matchup at Metricon Stadium earlier this year after finishing the game strongly with five goals to three in the last quarter. Brennan top scored in that game with 146 whilst Hanley scored 141. Gold Coast are currently 13th on the ladder whilst Brisbane is a game behind and is 14th. This is definitely a game that the Suns can win and, accordingly, it is hard to pick someone other than Ablett given his recent form.
Another great pick would be Griffen who is in career form and coming up against the tiring Giants. This game commences at 1:45 pm on Saturday - just before Ablett's game at 4:40 pm later that day. This will give us just enough time to put the vice captaincy on Griffen and then deciding whether we keep his score or revert back to Ablett as captain.
Following Ablett and Griffen, I think that Kennedy will use the game against Melbourne to return to form. Watson should continue his great form and will enjoy playing at home against Port Adelaide on Sunday. I would then pick Pendlebury against Carlton on Friday night - as he looks to make amends for Collingwood's loss to Port Adelaide last week.
Good luck all!
