<p style='text-align: justify;]I wonder who would have picked the Top 10 Leaderboard from last week: Watson (166), Westhoff (163), Hanley (160), Elliott (159), Bartel (157), Heppell (149), Wingard (145), McVeigh (144), Bellchambers (144) and Minson (143). I could be wrong, but I doubt anyone would have made any of these players (other than Watson) captain last week.
<p style='text-align: justify;]I have included more players than usual in this bumper edition of the Captain's Log for your consideration …

Note: Solid record against Melbourne especially over the past three years where he has averaged 130 SC points a game in his past four games. Has started the season with scores of 86 and 113.

Note: Solid and consistent record for the past few years against Melbourne with a poor 82 SC points last year. He should dominate in the ruck contest. Started the season with scores of 96 and 118.

Rd 21 2010: 103 SC points, 30 disposals

Rd 3 2005: 87 SC points, 17 disposals
Average is 96 SC points with 24 disposals.
Note: Surprisingly bad average against the Power with only six scores over 100 in 16 games. However, he scored big against them last year with scores of 143 and 141. Bounced back with 140 SC points last round after a disappointing 91 SC points in Round 1.

Watson v. Fremantle
Rd 13 2012: 120 SC points, 27 disposals
Rd 12 2011: 67 SC points, 22 disposals
Rd 2 2010: 113 SC points, 28 disposals
Rd 21 2009: 54 SC points, 6 disposals
Rd 2 2009: 116 SC points, 30 disposals
Rd 14 2008: 145 SC points, 36 disposals
Rd 19 2007: 77 SC points, 22 disposals
Rd 2 2007: 76 SC points, 19 disposals
Rd 14 2006: 53 SC points, 12 disposals
Average is 91 SC points with 22 disposals.
Note: A poor record against Fremantle. Even if you ignore the Round 21 game in 2009 where he injured his ankle, Watson's average is only 95 SC points. Has been tagged by Crowley for the previous three games, averaging an even 100 in those games. Has started the season with six Brownlow votes with scores of 121 and 166.

Dangerfield v. Port Adelaide
Rd 15 2012: 97 SC points, 22 disposals
Rd 5 2012: 141 SC points, 39 disposals
Rd 19 2011: 99 SC points, 27 disposals
Rd 4 2011: 60 SC points, 17 disposals
Rd 17 2010: 73 SC points, 17 disposals
Rd 17 2009: 54 SC points, 9 disposals
Rd 6 2009: 63 SC points, 14 disposals
Average is 84 SC points with 21 disposals.
Note: Small sample size but has shown what he is capable of with 141 in Round 5 last year. Slow start to the season with scores of 63 and 107.

Kennedy v. North Melbourne
Rd 4 2012: 99 SC points, 27 disposals
Rd 10 2011: 57 SC points, 15 disposals
Rd 15 2010: 87 SC points, 23 disposals
Rd 4 2010: 77 SC points, 16 disposals
Average is 80 SC points with 20 disposals.
Note: Small sample size. Has played the past two games playing head to head against Ziebell. Will look to build on his early season form where he has scored 147 and a disappointing 108.

My opinion: Will Ablett bounce back from his sub 100 game? Or does this signal the start of a change in role for the superstar? My view is that he will bounce back with a big performance in a game that many may tip the Suns to win.
As many of you know, every week I look at the teams playing Gold Coast and Greater Western Sydney. Perhaps I should add Melbourne to that list. Last week, in their much talked about 148 point loss to Essendon, Melbourne players only earned 1,188 SC points (36%) with two century makers. Essendon players earned 2,113 SC points (64%) with eight players scoring centuries. West Coast play Melbourne this week and Cox and Priddis would both be expected to score well.

Brisbane play Gold Coast on Saturday night. In their most recent clash (Round 17 2012), Brisbane managed to hold on and win the game by 10 points despite the Suns kicking 5 goals and 18 behinds. For the Lions, Merrett led the way with 122 and he was followed by Rockliff with 121 and Redden with 119. However, in their 11 goal win in Round 4 last year, Rockliff scored a huge 163. The next best was Hanley with 114.

St Kilda play Greater Western Sydney on Saturday afternoon at Manuka Oval. They have only played once which was Round 22 last year which the Saints won by 128 points at Etihad Stadium. Despite the thrashing, no Saints player scored big. Dal Santo top scored with 135 and he was followed by Montagna with 132. Riewoldt did not play in that game. This year, however, the Saints have been disappointing. McEvoy leads their SC averages with 115. He is followed by Clint Jones with 111 and Riewoldt with 105. They are the only players averaging more than 100. Dal Santo is averaging a very disappointing 90 SC points a game.

For me, I can't go past Ablett despite his underwhelming performance last week. The numbers above show that a player from the Collingwood and Hawthorn blockbuster will score well whilst the same cannot be said for players from the Carlton and Geelong game. I am finding it hard to pick a player from these teams so my clear second choice is Cox who should dominate the dispirited Melbourne squad. My third choice is Watson who, despite a relatively poor record against the Dockers, is in fantastic Brownlow medal form.

Following Ablett, Cox and Watson, I would round out my top five with Pendlebury and Swan.
Good luck all!
