Consolidation Of List Changes

Seriously now, after all the polls, and all the discussion, and all my random silliness, we decided on the following changes to list sizes and management for the future:

• For the start of the 2017 season, all team list sizes will be increased from 26 to 28 players.
• A mini-draft after the 2017 PSD will be used to increase list sizes.
• Mandatory list reductions will be introduced, so that all coaches have a minimum number of picks in the PSD's.
• The minimum number of PSD picks will be four (4), meaning that no team can have more than 24 players on their list prior to the PSD commencing (relevant for 2018 onwards).
• Trading, delisting, and retirements from AFL clubs are all included in the pre-PSD list reduction, its only important the minimum number of picks.

Looking at the poll results, is there anyone who does not come to this same conclusion?

The 2017 post-PSD minidraft order needs to be decided - I would advocate using the same order as the PSD, simply because all of this is designed to give the lower ranked teams a "helping hand", to create evenness and competitiveness in the league. The alternates appear to be consecutive picks for each team based on PSD order (18th placed team gets picks 1 and 2, 17th placed team gets picks 3 and 4, etc), which will further boost the lower ranks teams' ability and opportunities, or a completely random draft order, which is fair for the league, but probably won't go anywhere in helping the lower ranked teams.

What is everyone's thoughts on the minidraft order?
Is there anything else that you'd like to see added / removed / changed?

Initially it was that the 2017 draft would be as we've always done, and then introduce the minidraft afterwards. This is due to the fact that people have traded draft picks thinking they've got a certain value, so it'd kinda unfair to "change" the the value of each pick.

Wait, no.... Everyone is entitled to their opinion, whether they're the most or least effected by the outcome. However, you're also not obliged to say anything (but don't feel that you have to keep your mouth shut either).

Yeah, I was thinking that too... was trying to avoid it, but we'll have one - two actually: the order, and if we should be able to trade these picks

That's a good question - clearly I need to put more thought into this....

 

Further consolidation from the questions that arose - mini-draft picks ARE NOT trade-able, and the order will be based on the PSD, with teams having ADJOINING picks.
