At first glance at least it looks as if he has a better idea then Sheeds ever did... 3 Magpies in the midfield though is risky you'd think... http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...s-shane-crawford/story-e6frf9jf-1226011676252
CRAWFORD’S TEAM BACKS Brendon Goddard (StK) $633,700 Bryce Gibbs (Carl) $508,300 Greg Broughton (Frem) $479,800 Chris Newman (Rich) $450,900 Heath Shaw (Coll) $439,000 Jared Petrenko (Adel) $245,700 Dyson Heppell (Ess) $153,600 (bench) Paul Puopolo (Haw) $103,600 Josh Toy (GC) $110,200 Lucas Markovic (WB) $110,200 MIDFIELD Gary Ablett (GC) $631,900 Dane Swan (Coll) $617,300 Leigh Montagna (StK) $558,700 Scott Pendlebury (Coll) $537,900 Steele Sidebottom (Coll) $410,800 David Swallow (GC) $188,600 (bench) Isaac Smith (Haw) $103,600 Tendai Mzungu (Frem) $110,200 Tom Liberatore (WB) $103,600 RUCK Aaron Sandilands (Frem) $554,700 Mitch Clark (BL) $354,400 (bench) Zac Smith (GC) $117,700 Robert Campbell (Melb) $103,600 FORWARDS Lance Franklin (Haw) $522,900 Brad Green (Melb) $469,800 Lindsay Thomas (NM) $278,400 Drew Petrie (NM) $216,000 Amon Buchanan (BL) $259,900 Andrew Krakouer (Coll) $200,600 Brandon Matera (GC) $110,200 (bench) Cameron Richardson (NM) $110,200 Jack Darling (WC) $103,600 Ian Callinan (Adel) $91,700 Left in bank: $8700

Is his only appreciation of humour based on dressing up in silly clothes? A bit painful if I have to see that every week...
Too many Collingwood mids, WTF: Buchanan!! and some huge cash spent in his backline. Having said that it is far better than Sheedy's sides who were simply woeful. Petrenko is an interesting selection...
Shit forwardline. Too much money spent in the mids and not enough rookies to earn cash. Too many Woods players in the mids. Mitch Clark? Nup, no probs here. Nothing to see - move on, move on.
Too much focus on mid pricers and not enough GnR for me. And the mid pricers he's picked are pretty bogus. Spudrenko? Sheedy was better.
What's the odds that he ran through his team once, selected people he was happy with- got to the forwards with $2 mil in hand and thought stuff it, it's good enough! You do miss a lot of the round6 trouble if you go cheap up forward though!
Can't wait to see him on Postcards though. Setting the Tivo right now. Did you get that bit? He was in Canada filming for Postcards.
Like he said in the article, it's a preliminary squad, so he knows it's got more holes than a kilo of swiss cheese. I would imagine Crawf's team and advice are gonna be the template to follow for a lot of new supercoaches out there (or those who aren't too serious). so there may even be an ironic edge to gain by closely following what he's doing and doing something different.

The auto-fill feature probably came in very handy I'm sure he's just playing around from a league win perspective without bothering to factor in byes etc etc.
Some dubious selections there but his structure is pretty similar to mine and may not be accidental. I think it has merit.
Brave man Wal. I can see some merits in his selections (and some faults) but if he is going for leagues then he might just get away with 3 Pie mids. Perhaps the team is more conspicuous by its absences (e.g., Hawthorn mids)? Anyway Jason, stick him in one of your leagues and give him a good old TS thrashing.
I was actually impressed with his team! A lot of premiums, seems as though he is taking it serious. Puopolo selection makes me think he will get games early. The second you write off someone elses team with dubious picks - their 'jack riewoldt' will drop a 150 on you.

He hinted at it a couple of times in the Hun; there's no way he contributed at all to creating that team! You don't just bang Matera in there without having followed GCS at all. There'd be plenty of other rookies that would get ahead of him in a team that hadn't been researched.
