Currently, I have 8 donuts. My opponent in my main league has many more so I am not worried about losing. My current overall ranking is 2700 and while I am going for leagues, I would love to stay up there. So my options are as follows:

    Option 1:

    Redden > Campbell
    Horsley > Crozier
Paine > Johnson (or similar type)

This will leave me with 5 donuts and a little coin

    Option 2:

    Redden > Campbell
Treloar > Patton/Crozier (can't decide who is better for short and long term)
    Horsley > Swan

I am leaning towards option 2 as it will mean my midfield is complete as well as my rucks and forwards (Treloar and Redden bench players) but will leave me with 6 donuts and no cash left. Option 1 will mean that I still have Treloar but less donuts and can finally get rid of Paine.

Both options will leave me with 7 trades left.

    Any input would be great.....

    Thanks in advance

I like Option 2! Just makes more sense. Go with your gut my friend!

hard to say without seeign your full side but trading Paine out to another rookie seems like a waste of a trade and tradoign Treloar this week actually costs you points

who can you afford if you do Redden=> Campbell and Horlsey => PREMIUM??

Trade for the long term. Take advantage of the BEs. If that in turn happens to cover a donut, well and good.
Short term Paine for long term gain.

Full team is as follows (when no byes occurs)

DEF: Deledio, Goddard, Birchall, Shaw, Broughton, Burgoyne, S.Shaw (Darley, Paine)

MID: Ablett, Swallow, Watson, Cotchin, JPK, Swan (Gibson, Couch)

RUC: IVAN, Nic Nat (Campbell, O)

FWD: Buddy, JRoo, Martin, Beams, Dangerfield, Zorko, Taylor Walker (Patton, Smedts).

No cash left, 7 trades left and sitting 3rd and 2nd in my main leagues. Also sitting around the 3000 overall.

The guys in bold are players that I will wait and see about.

    If you do 3 trades,
each one should be to swap out a donut for a named player,
    the rule of bye rounds.
After the byes when we don't have to contend with the donuts everywhere,
then it's back to business as usual,
work that in with Terry's advice on taking advantage of BE's & you're on a winner.
Your option 1 is the better of the 2,
because Treloar is playing & outing him now doesnt spare you a donut.

Ended up going option 2 and am quite happy with it as it won me a few more matches than if I had brought in Johnson. Now, I think I only have one more upgrade to go (see team above)....is Zorko going to be a keeper for the year? Is doing better than Dusty so that's a good indicator. Thanks guys.

    Zorko's looking like a keeper for D 7 or 8,
the only reason I didn't get him is I played the cellar dweller in my main league the week he bubbled & so didn't trade.

Your team looks strong, with only 1 defender off being pretty much fully upgraded,
how many trades you have remaining would be my determining factor in how quickly you do that final upgrade.
7 trades + & I'd say go for it, 6 or less & reckon should sit tight & wait for injuries to force your hand.

    Hi Fidel,

I have the 7 trades left atm. I was thinking of holding for a couple of weeks just to see the prices moving up and down. I want to free up some cash as I have virtually none in the salary cap. Am thinking of downgrading the Big O in a couple of weeks. Carrots does look like the most likely option but am also thinking Sam Fisher or even a POD in Hanley or Adcock. I will update my team above to what it looks like now.

    Hiya Tigers,
    For Defenders,
    These are my projections,
based on adding season average so far + last 3 round average + ave versus round 23 opponent + average at the ground in round 23 & then divided by 4.
I feel that's a reasonable way to get an idea of what to expect of each defender in that final round.

After adding up the current top 30 defenders, this is how they rank =

    1 - 111 - Deledio
    2 - 111 - Grima
    3 - 103 - Shaw
    4 - 101 - Enright
    5 - 100 - Goddard
    6 - 99 - Scarlett
    7 - 98 - Scotland
8 - 97 - Johnson (score affected by last round spud job, should go better)
    9 - 97 - Adcock
    10- 97 - Burgoyne
    11- 95 - Waters
    12- 94 - Birchall
    13- 93 - Carazzo
    14- 92 - Hurn
    15- 90 - Hanley
    16- 90 - Gram
    17- 89 - Heppell
(No one else from top 30 defenders projected to score over 86)
