Does anyone think that (like the run to finals) if some clubs that are better placed than others to fully capitalise on the bye. Teams who are in a good position come the dreaded byes and have relatively easy games, followed with a bye, followed by a tough game could take this approach.

    This would hurt my team....

WC have Brizzy @ the Gabba, bye, Carlton@ home
Hawks have Brizzy @ home, bye, Carlton @ the ‘G
Tiges have GWS @ Skoda, bye, Crows @ AAMI

or a bye followed by an easy game -

Melb have a bye, then GWS
North a bye, then Suns @ metricon

Conversely, if the games seem a certain loss, teams may also give certain players a rest.

GWS have a bye, then Cats @ Simmonds
Port have a bye, then Cats @ Simmonds
Suns have a bye, then WC @ Pattison.

Ultimately the teams ladder position, and season agenda will affect their decision to go full strength or half arsed, this brings a new set of variables into play. As if there were’nt enough already.

I read this on anther forum and thought interesting enough to share and ask for your thoughts!
