Hi All, know its a bit early but I'm interested in next years player positions. With people like Swan and co resting forward instead of going to the bench, will they be listed as forward/mid? Sorry if its been bought up before, I looked at the first 5 pages and didn't see anything as such.

Quote from Fez on March 28, 2011, 20:53 yeah mate it's a bit early
I don't really think it is too early to discuss this - I honestly see this as a major issue with both SC & DT, their DPP's don't really reflect the way coaches use their players on field - and with the sub rule in play this season (and most likely retained next season) players will definitely be required to play in multiple positions from now on. The only way SC & DT will change their views on DPP's is through pressure and lobbying from us, the people who play the games. It would be great to see this discussed through the season and see if in the end we can bring about some change to the allocation of DPP's in SC & DT. That's my two bob's worth anyway!
I think that there is definately players this year that should have had MPP/DPP. And would have made team selections a bit more interesting in some positions. One that comes to mind is Ryder. Now if he was RUC/FWD there would have been a lot less Sex on the Beach. The MPP would have been valued highly on him. It's prob been more of an issue this year though due to the bye factor. So may not be as challenging next year.
Doubt Swan would be if Gazza wasn't this year. Bit early to call in round 1 but maybe half way through season would be interesting discussion when we know the roles of everyone. But having said that Yarran & Davis will probay be F/B next year.
One thing I would like to know is how long does a player retain MPP/DPP status if they don't actually play those roles??? The one i'm wondering about is Grundy being listed as a F/B even though i'm trying to recall how long it's been since i've seen him play any meaningful time up forward! How much % of playing time does someone have to play in a different position to merit a MPP/DPP listing??? I'll use a few Port players as example here - Westhoff and D Stewart each played around 10 - 15% total game time last season performing ruck duties to ease the Brogans burden, yet there is no reflection of their versatility - Lobbe retains his F/R listing even though all his game time was spent in ruck!!! And like FSB said, Ryder definitely should have F/R status because he has spent as much time up forward as he did in ruck last season!!! So where is the common sense with these MPP/DPP listings - or are they just given out randomly???
Too early still? Be some cracker teams if it happens. Swan, Judd & co up front. Be nice to see the back of NRoo!
At the start of this year I was expecting Gazza to be available as Forward too, as he kicked 44 goals or something last year. I wonder if there's a rule on SC/DT on how much % of game time they play up forward etc?
Will Leon Neon and Chris Yarran be available as DEF next year? Surely they'll do that without the nagging of us...right? Davis would be a nice pick, i reckon, remember a couple of years ago he was right up there in the midfield.....
