Hello all,i'm trying to set up the draft league this year for something different, ive never played it before so not sure of the best way to set up it up. I was thinking of going for 10 teams as any less seem to few, and leaning towards a squad size of 22. Will this leave the decent players pool too low having by having that size of squad? In terms of drafting of players is there any good strategies to use as in picking top forwards first as there are so many more decent midfielders to select or is a just a case of picking the best players that are available regardless of position? Any ideas or suggestions from people who have played this draft game before would be most appreciated!

I'm sure there will be plenty of articles on here as we get closer to the season. It's something new for most of us so most fantasy websites will devote some articles to draft strategies etc.

GZ, you might like to look at the ORFFL and ORFFA threads on the site to get some ideas and strategies for player selections in your league.
Not perfect I know, but a bunch of very serious guys who set up keeper leagues last year.

First pick has to be your blue-chip mid that will be your captain. You need a superstar that you know will be most likely your top scorer. It's good having preferences but if all of one position is getting picked you'll need to act in so you don't miss out eg premium rucks.
I've gone for the 3313-5 with 12 players in the league so wearen'tscraping the barrel for talent for our last picks, plus the draft will take ages.
Does anyone know how the draft order will be chosen? Is is automated or can the commissioner chose it?

I dont think you can choose the order people are in but you can choose how the order works, * Snake Draft - the order of selections is reversed each round
    * Linear Draft - the order of selections stays the same each round
    * Banzai Draft - the order of selections reverses in round 2, stays the same in round 3, and then continues as per the Snake Draft. http://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/supe...

Hi Knuckle busters, Do you know if the draft order is randomly assigned? Or is it based on the order of teams joined the league? Cheers

I was involved in a draft earlier this week. The draft appeared to run in the same order that people joined the league, which last me last.
A lot of the participants though didn't seem to present at the draft, so they picked up players automatically based on the list of highest 2012 average to lowest.
Since I missed out on the top picks, I ended up drafting a lot of players with potential rather than current champions.
My first picks at #10 and #11 were two rucks - Cox and Maric - in an attempt to hog the good rucks and leave some teams with average rucks like Jamar and Bellchambers. Although it did mean I missed out on a top midfielder.
