What is TooSerious and why should I use it?
The short answer is: We predict players salary movement so that you can make the best trades possible. We also have an assortment of other goodies used by the best SuperCoaches in the land.
The long answer can be found <a href="http://tooserious.net/?p=746">here[/url]

How can you see how a future score will impact a players future price?

Clicking the calculator next to a players name will take you to the calculator page. This page enables you to enter in a players scores for the rest of the season and see what effect that has on his salary.

Where do I find a player’s average against each opposition side?

Again, on a players calculator page, you can see what they average, in their last three outings, against a particular team. You can also see how they average at a particular ground.

    Are you a nerd, Les?

The words uttered by the Ox when I got on SEN. Yep, this site is used by people from all walk of life, even the boys on SEN. The answer of course is Yes. But then again, most people here probably are as well.

What is a “real value” as opposed to any other value?

Real Value is a representation of a players value, taking missed games into account. ie 4 games scoring 100, then a missed game, will still average 100, however, his real value average will be 80. His real value is then derived from this average.

How do I upload my team(s) into TooSerious

Currently its a bit of a conveluded process. Firstly you must enter your SuperCoach or Dreamteam reference numbers into the accounts tab.

To get your SuperCoach reference number, make sure you are logged out of supercoach and then go to this page:
    http://supercoach.heraldsun.com.au/?p=topcoaches
About halfway down on the right, there is a search box labelled: Find another team (search by team name below):
Type in your *team name* and search for it.
Your team should come up in a list and you need to get a copy of the URL that it points to.
Itll look something like this- http://supercoach.heraldsun.com.au/?p=other_teams&tid=24&lid=1
you need to grab the tid (so in my case, it would be 24), and enter it into the Supercoach Ref field.

Next, you can click on the Upload Team tab, and then press Upload Team to get your team into TooSerious.

Now, when you look at the Stats tab, youll be able to filter the page to just your team using the Team filter.

    What is a Breakeven.

A breakeven (BE) is the score a player will need to score, in order for their salary to improve. So if a player scores above their BE, they will go up in price, and vice versa. The breakeven is calulated based on a players 3 week average, so having a great, or terrible performance will effect a players salary for 3 weeks.

How do you work out the appropriate time to trade out a player who is dropping in value, e.g Cyril Rioli?

The method I use is to look at a players Breakeven. Once a players breakeven has fallen beneath their average, its generally a good time to snap them up. Of course, you need to be aware of the reasons a player under performed in the first place. Was he injured? tagged? played in a different role - and what the are chances of his low scores occuring agian?

How can I ascertain these break even and bottoming out figures that are spoken about?

The simplest explaination is to click on the Stats tab, click Extended, then sort by YTD descending. This will give you a list of players who have fallen the furthest. You can then check the Breanevens. Anything that isnt Red will generally mean theyve bottomed out.

What do all the abbreviations mean in the Stats and live scoring pages?

If you hold your mouse over a column title, youll be given the gist of that column.

What does it mean when a player is red/orange etc on the Stats page?
A Player who is Red is one that is currently injured. Orange means that they *should* be coming back this round. If you hold your mouse over the injured player, you will get a description of their injury. Also, you can filter on injured players by clicking the "Injury" filter.

Is there anyway to list the whole team’s stats on one page rather than three pages?

On the accounts tab, there is an option to change the amount of rows viewed on screen. This feature only takes effect for people who have donated.

    What’s this 3300 rule I hear about?

Supercoach is scored differently to other fantasy football games out there. Basically, every game will always add up to 3300 points. The folk at Champion Data do this as it enables you to tell the difference in performance when comparing a high-possession, high scoring game (that would normally score will in fantasy football), to one that is played in wet slippery conditions with low scores.

    What’s a ticker?

We have a tab up the top called the Ticker. What this tried to represent is how difficult, or easy, a teams up and coming run of games will be. Difficulty is judged based on how many points, on average, a team has been giving up to a particular position, based on the average the league gives up, over the past 12 weeks. If a team on average gives up more points, then they will be coloured in Orange, or Red (Hot). When a team gives up less points, they will be Green, then Blue (Cold).

What does it mean when a player is highlighted on the live scoring page?

The best thing about our live scoring is the highlighting. Any player that you have on your team, will be highlighted. Additionally, any player on your watchlist will be highlighted in a different colour. In the future, youll be able to colour your own watchlist, but until then, its all the same colour.

Walesy, when are you going to fix [so and so]?

As you might have noticed, the development on this site is a bit of a one man band. We have a couple of awesome writers, and fantastic commenters who all do a great job- but the development on it falls to me. And theres only so many hours in a day. Basically what Im saying is- its get done, soon...ish.

What’s the ‘magic number’/how are prices calculated?

The magic number is the number that definites how many dollars a point is worth. At the start of the year, its easy to calculate. Simply divide a players salary by their average last year, and thats the magic number.

As the season progresses however, the magic number seems to shrink. Technically though, its doesnt shrink, what happens is that there is a total salary over the entire competition. And in the early rounds, when Rookies are adding on hundreds of thousands of dollars, the cash for that is taken off every other player whos playing the game.

The net result though, if a player gets the same average they scored last year, their salary will go down.

How do i get you to come to bed with me?

First you buy me a drink! Then you need Jos permission.

how is the predicted points scored function calculated?

The predicted points scored (or PPS), is an attempt we had to predict what a players score will be. Sadly though, we never got a chance to refine it. One day when we have the time, well get back to it.

Why in the hell can’t we have decent live SuperCoach scores?

Legend has it that there was a fight between SuperCoach and Dreamteam, and with the AFL backing DT, they managed to wrangle live scores all to themselves. Another tale says that because of the nature of the 3300, seeing live scores is pretty unhelpful since things can change a lot in the last 5 minutes.

This doesnt change the fact that we give it a crack on our live scoring. Sadly, there is a bug in it mid-quarter. But once I figure that out, Itll be great!

    Is there an offseason

No. There is a season, and a preseason. Generally there will be people around here, keeping an eye on the pre-season, and playing the summer fantasy sports.

What do you mean when you say "fresh meat"

The way salaries work, generally youll find that the best price risers/trade down targets, have only played 2 games and are just about to jump in salary. Turning on the Fresh Meat filter will limit your results to players that have played a maximum of 2 games.
