I'm sure many of us are in the same boat with our F6 being a choice out of names like McDonough, Rohan, Impey and JKH. With all of these boys looking like they are good for 50 or less each week does some restructuring need to take place? The backline is looking more solid by the minute with Laidler and Langdon scoring well and looking good, Georgiou to be upgraded soon along with McDonald and probably Langford to debut this week. Should a premium be cut from the backline to place another premium up forward to rid ourselves from a permanently low scoring F6? I'm thinking of trading Bartel (who I'm not 100% on anyway) or possibly Suckling (if it generates enough cash) for Georgiou or Landford and upgrading JKH to Roughhead and benching Higgins for this week. Higgins would come onto the field the week after to have a rookie free forwardline. Anybody got any other solutions to F6? Am I being too negative about the forward rookies scoring potential?
I'm thinking the same thing Matty. Particularly now Laidler's JS is looking a lot better. Nearly made the move Saturday arvo but chickened out cause the team looked too unbalanced. I really think Rohan has the potential to go higher - got to the right position a lot but was a bit fumbly, and spent a bit of time 1 out at FF which is promising. That said, each day I'm leaning more towards the option you described. Seems to be more certainty with premium forwards than backs.
I have Higgins at F6 which at the moment for some crazy reason looks ok. Def rookies do look thicker on the ground however may be fool's gold. Langford may only keep his spot while Sewell is out (if named at all). Laidler's JS does look better with a good game and Johnson going down again. Langdon looks like he'll play all year in Heater's role. If I were you and had a rookie at F6, I'd definitely try to upgrade to at least a mid pricer, or a premium if possible. Roughie would be an ideal choice.
Yep, I'm more rookie heavy in defence with Laidler, McDonald, Langford, Georgiou (with Langdon in the mids). Leaving Rohan and JKH on the pine in the forwards. My F6 is the spot I'm most uncertain about too as I have Caddy. His pre-season numbers look good and I have only 3k in the bank so I'm probably stuck with him.
I have JKH on field at F6, with Impey and McDonough locked out on bench. I like your idea, and you've convinced me. I'll probably grab Caddy at F6, although I might have enough cash to get a premium. Problem arises there that I'm not really confident in many of the forward prems this year. I managed to scrape together 5 I am happy with, but the 6th could be hard to come by
Interesting idea and something I hadn't considered but now will. My only choice would be to downgrade Suckling to Langford (if he plays) and up JKH to Caddy (I think I'll just have enough). I guess the question is - would you rather Langford/Caddy or JKH/Suckling. The first of these pairings looks better to me but really it comes down to which rookie has better JS. I'm not sure of that answer but maybe the team selections will make that easier.
Very interesting thread. I tend to agree on stacking the forward line and using the rookies (Langdon, Laidler, Georgiou now upgraded). They all look to moo early and be secure cash cows. But I agree with others that the forward prems are very suspect this year. Apart from Dangerzone, I only chose forwards under 500k. I expect a few of the DPP forwards to climb into the top 10, and players like dusty are just too expensive to start with. Unfortunately Rohan and McDonough have already played, so I'd make a correctional trade before getting rid of JKH. If he cracks the Dees 22 then he is far more likely to get regular and consistent games, since he is part of a developing side. I can see McDonough being on the fringes week to week, and a constant vest threat. As per usual, the naming of the teams will help push this thread along in a more accurate direction, as we just don't know yet.
Well I have ended up trading Bartel for Langford which gives me Mitchell, Simpson, Swallow, Suckling, McDonald, Laidler, Langdon and Langford as my backline. Then JKH has become Roughead which leaves Higgins as F6 and puts Rohan and Impey on the bench, which I'm much more comfortable with. Barring disaster at the selection table I think this is how I will structure up in the end.
Hey matty, I'm assuming you had JKH on the field, but if you had him and Impey as F7, F8 then Rohan has to stay at F6 and Roughead goes to the bench and you will lose his score unless you swap him for Higgins, for the remainder of this round only. You can move them around next round.
]Hey choppers, yeah Higgins is relegated to the bench for this week as Rohan has already played and was on field. It's a shame as I think Higgins could score well, but I think it is worth it to make a structural change while I still have unlimited trades. A change in structure like this would take 2 trades after this week!
