    This is a new award were putting together on TooSerious, one that I imagine in time will be the equal, if not better than, the Brownlow. The Fantasy Rising star award - Awarded to the players who earn us coaches the most cash in single weeks than any other.

    The nitty gritty of the award is a 5-4-3-2-1 is awarded to the top 5 salary gainers from each week, and the end of the year, the highest scorer is well, the winner!
    <!--more-->

    So, taking a look at the salary movements from last week, we come up with the following count:

    5 - Curnow
    4 - Liberatore
    3 - Savage
    2 - Tapscott
    1 - Heppell

    Making this weeks Fantasy Rising Star nominee none other than Carltons Ed Curnow.

    Curnow started his career as a junior playing footy for the Geelong Falcons. He was drafted by the Adelaide football club in the 2008 rookie draft, before being delisted after just one season.

    Ed moved back to Victoria to play for the Box Hill Hawks in 2009, however, it was 2010 where Ed Curnow really took his chances. He was absolutely exceptional in 2010 and dispite only playing 12 games due to a season ending ankle breaking, he still managed to pole enough votes the win the Box Hill best and fairest.

    As we all know, Curnow was then rookie listed by the Blues, and after a more than solid pre-season, became their nominated rookie, debuting against the Tigers in round one. He collected 24 possessions and 7 tackles on his way to a 118. His second game scored him a 112 off 26 touches, almost half of them contested.

    By now Curnow had our attention, but Richmond and the Gold Coast arent the greatest of competition, so it was round 3 against Collingwood that Curnow showed us just how good he can be. Another solid performance against the reigning premiers scoring 92 points off 23 touches at an disposal efficency of 74%.

    These three games saw Ed Curnow rise by $99,100 and collect the inaugral Fantasy Rising Star award- will he be able to continue his phenominal rise? His 99 against the Bombers suggests yes, but time will tell.
