Dane Swan continues to power away in the 2010 Brownlow medal count, polling in a record 8 straight games. Â Has anyone ever put together 2 months of brilliant, consistent football? Â The stats dont lie: over the last 8 weeks (in which the Pies are undefeated), Swan has averaged 36 possessions, 134 DreamTeam points, 146 SuperCoach points and an amazing 8 coaches votes...Im calling it early: Swan will win this years Brownlow Medal.
Other news out of this weeks games: Fletcher and Stanton are keeping things interesting at Essendon, with Watson unlucky not to poll. Â Ablett and Selwood are looking most likely to sit third on the podium, both putting in another strong performance. Â Abletts 2 puts him at outright third on 18, with Selwood now on 17. Â Colin Sylvia has put in a very impressive month of football, polling 8 votes in the last 4 weeks, and now leads the Melbourne count. Â Michael Rischitellis 2 in this game also sees him leapfrog Brennan and Brown at Brisbane - should be some good odds here (although none of his 7 votes are guaranteed...).
Richmond is an interesting one, Shane Tuck put in his second guaranteed three for the year, and yet I still have him 3 off the pace from Deledio. Â Deledio has been ultra-consistent in a lot of Richmonds wins, without really starring, whilst Riewoldt is sure to poll as well. Â As of round 18, I see Deledio 6-11, Tuck 7-8, and Riewoldt 5-8. Â Hopefully will get some clarity over the last few rounds with which way this onell go.
Matthew Boyd is another thats had a fantastic month, polling in each of the last 4 games (9 votes), and moves to outright lead at the Doggies on 15. Â Should be decent odds on Matty, with Cooney the favourite.
Last game of the round saw Sandilands pick up the medal for best player on the ground - however I, along with Champion Data seem to disagree...58 SuperCoach points when youve got a bloke thats kicked 6....give us a break!
